Not even all their movies. The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard just went up, and is HD only, not 4K. HBO Max was going at providing 4K for the day-and-date simultaneous streaming & theatrical releases, but that's done now, so they may not be as good providing 4K versions of movies going forward.

HBO Max will have 4K movies for original releases from New Line Cinema. 8-Bit Christmas which never was released in theaters is 4K. The Matrix Trilogy and
The Outsiders are also 4K. Any of the films that were simultanously released in theaters and HBO Max are being readded in 4K.

The only exceptions are from other studios: 20th Century’s Ron Gone Wrong is HD on HBO Max but 4K on Disney+. The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is from Lionsgate.

No, Peacock does not support or have 4K content. I know because I watched Kills on the last day and it was 1080p/DD 5.1 but had new extras added.

4K has been underwhelming to me for the most part- it's nice to have but isn't as big a leap forward as SD to HD was. I watched Ford Vs. Ferrari on HBO Max in HD and it was likely the best picture quality I've ever seen via streaming- no compression artifacts whatsoever and a flawless picture overall, if you had told me that was 4K I would've believed you. If I liked the movie enough I would've bought it on 4K disc and seen if that looked any better.

I wish they had included The Animatrix. Still looked good in HD.

Yeah I mentioned Pennyworth in the show thread a few weeks ago. I also noticed Chuck today.

FYI, a bunch of the CNN documentaries are leaving at the end of the month like The 70s, The 80s, The 90s, The 2000s, the movies and more. If you haven’t seen some of these, better hurry.

Going to at least watch the 70s and part of the 80s.

My Max has been a real piece of shit the last few days. I keep getting the three dots on the bottom. I was finally able to watch Peacemaker after letting it sit for five minutes, but I’ve given up on the other stuff I tried.
it’s certainly not an internet issue. All my other apps on my Sony tv work fine.

I had the same issue with my Roku Ultra a couple days. It's mostly cleared up though.

My HBO Max app on Roku has been acting up, too, for a while now. There are issues when I pause (sometimes the screen starts flickering between the app and the Roku home screen) and then when I try to resume a paused show the screen will often just go black and the app freezes up. Then the only thing I can do is go back to the Roku home screen and start the HBO app up again.

Ok... wasn't just me. My app (through Sony TV) updated and has a slightly new interface and I had playback issues last night.

After HBO Drops Off Amazon Prime, WarnerMedia Intros HBO Max 50% Off Deal — For All New or Former Customers

WarnerMedia is trying to help offset the loss of about 5 million HBO subscribers who had signed up through Amazon in the U.S. with an aggressive discount offer on HBO Max.

As of Sept. 15, HBO subscriptions through Amazon Prime Video Channels officially shut down. But WarnerMedia is angling to get those customers back: Starting Friday, those who accessed HBO via Prime Video Channels — as well as all new and returning HBO Max subscribers in the U.S. — can sign up for the premium HBO Max ad-free monthly plan at a 50% discount.

The new limited-time promotion lets eligible customers get HBO Max for $7.49/month for six months; after that, the rate goes up to the regular $14.99/month. WarnerMedia began promoting the deal Friday on hbomax.com; customers also can sign up through Apple, Google, LG, Microsoft, Sony, Roku and Vizio.

The 50% off deal is available in the U.S. only through Sept. 26, and is squarely targeted at Amazon Prime users who have just lost access to HBO and HBO Max.

My 50% off monthly rate was due to expire at the end of next month. Well, HBO Max just sent me an email saying that they extended the 50% off rate on my account for an additional 6 months, so I guess I'll stay subscribed longer.

Same email yesterday... guess I'm also sticking around for another 6 months.

Same here. I was planning to stick around a few more months anyway, as there are a couple of TV shows that I haven't gotten around to watching yet, so this made staying a no-brainer.

That was part of one of the shoe HBO Insider polls a few months ago. Although, I told them that I wanted them to bring back HBO Boxing.

That was the case when it was scheduled for 2021 theatrical release. When it got bumped into 2022, they announced it would no longer be day-and-date. That was for 2021 WB movies only.

The Batman was moved to 2022 in Oct. 2020. The day and date HBO Max plan was announced Dec. 2020. It was never part of the announced movies.

I guess you're right about that. I swear I had heard Batman was going to be a part of that but must be mistaken.

Potentially stupid question - is there a way to turn off autoplay (I primarily watch on the HBO MAX Xbox app), either always or to 'cancel' it while watching a show?
I've been watching Flight of the Conchords and sometimes there are credits gags that get the last few seconds skipped because it goes to the next episode.

Just on some devices. Xbox or Roku is not included: https://help.hbomax.com/us/Answer/Detail/000001251

Turn off autoplay

Autoplay can be turned off on Cox devices, LG TV, VIZIO TV, XClass TV, Samsung TV, and Xfinity devices. Here's how to turn off autoplay:
  1. Open HBO Max and then choose the Settings icon (lower left).
  2. Scroll over and choose Experience. Here you can turn autoplay on or off.
Other devices: Autoplay can't be turned off. If you don't want to watch the next episode, pause or stop playback before the next episode begins. Stay tuned as we add this functionality to all devices.

Yeah, that'll be sad. I actually use HBO Max quite a bit but not sure if I want to add another ~15/month service to my stable (and that's if they don't raise the price.)
I did a quick look at Discovery Plus. At least on the front page, not a single program I have any slightest interest in ever seeing, and not really a single channel I recall ever watching. Yay?

Discovery+ is $4.99 a month right now. If they raised the price, it’d be $20 for the two services, assuming they use the current prices as reference.

The two services may just end up costing $14.99 with the Discovery content rolled into HBO Max.
