Re: Disney+ streaming service
Ok I see.
I'll go through the list and see if there are any interesting one off specials that might interest me. You can forget mad scrambling to binge a show. I ain't forcing myself to watch 40 episodes of Mighty Ducks and Big Shot just because they are leaving. I wasn't really interested in them 3 years ago, so I'm not forcing myself to watch them.

This is how you get more people to become pirates.
Sorry but if I paid for a service and the shows get yanked and don't get moved to another service how else would you be able to watch these shows ???

Re: Disney+ streaming service
I had a few of these on the list, including the top 5.
Just knocked off Willow, and working on Pistol.
The only other one I might do is America the Beautiful. Maybe Hot Zone, I think I got S1 for free somewhere and still haven't watched that. Depends how much time.
If you like Jeff Goldblum, I would check his show out. Some of the segments were better than others, and a couple I already had some knowledge about.
Because of the free year from Verizon, and 3 year launch deal I still have Disney+ "paid" until November, and I already bundled so getting a credit for the Disney+ portion. I'm liking Youtube TV, and might cancel the bundle after November.
It looks like Verizon is now going to offer the bundle for $10/month.

I watched the Willow the film with my daughter last night. Going to try to plow through the series before it is pulled. Not sure I will have time for anything else on the pull list.

It will be interesting to see how long Verizon/Disney leave the grandfathered plan perks in place.

I just realized that I never finished the 2nd season of Goldblum's show. Maybe I'll try to at least finish that.
Other than that, I went through the list last night and none of the D+ content leaving really screams must watch. I never saw the Willow movie, so I'm not going to rush to watch the series. I was mildly interested in Hot Zone on Hulu, but I think I missed my opportunity when I put it on the backburner. I saw the Pilot of Y the last man, but I'm not going to watch an incomplete series since it was canceled.

I'm sure most of you have forgotten about this movie. But, Bryan Cranston is encouraging everyone to watch his movie "The One and Only Ivan" before it gets pulled forever.

My first thought about these removals was so they don’t have to pay residuals.

Re: Disney+ streaming service
Some people say...Why does it have to go? The show is bought and paid for. And ridiculous comments like...why is it taking up too much hard drive space? But, as long as the service carries it and people are able to watch it, residuals have to be paid to writers, actors, directors and such. But, from what I've heard residuals from streaming content isn't good. So that's partly why the writers are currently on strike. But, it really sucks for the creators that their work is basically being erased from existence.

Why not put these shows for sale on Vudu or Amazon? If D+ doesn't want to have them exclusive or not at all? Everyone gets paid.

The only thing being pulled that mildly interests me is the Willow series. Otherwise a bunch of stuff I probably wouldn’t watch anyways. Still sucks though and a reminder of why streaming isn’t always so great when companies can just pull things whenever they feel the need. Also in this case if it’s Disney avoiding paying residuals that’s fairly scummy.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

I agree that no one has the right to everything, but what concerns me is exclusives that aren’t available even for purchase elsewhere, and it doesn’t seem outrageous to expect them to continue to be available on that service. HBO pulls Westworld, but at least you can buy it elsewhere. Kinda sucks, but ok. On the other hand, what if stuff like CODA and tick.. tick.. Boom—which have cultural significance and Oscar wins—get yanked just to save money? I would hope that people would be able to watch them somehow.

I never got around to watching Willow or finishing Jeff Goldblum's show. I liked the Jeff Goldblum show, just never finished it. Sad that I won't get the chance for what seems like a stupid, money-grubbing reason.

It looks like "The Right Stuff" series is also leaving. I hadn't seen that mentioned previously. That's one that I would have liked to watch "one day". It's only 8 episodes. Looks like it didn't get a second season. Not sure if it tells the whole story or not. Anyone here watch it? Any good?

Yeah I don't like this at all. We've already given back the power to the corporations after fighting for consumer rights during the 70's and 80's. Now a lot of content is going to be lost media. Piracy is the only way to preserve a lot of media nowadays with digital releases. Yeah sure I get it it's still legally wrong. But if it's the only way to preserve these shows?
Also how much can residuals cost? I guess I get both sides of the argument. Sure you want to get paid for the work you did but you did already get paid to do a job. A payment you agreed to. If the job is done it's done. What other job can you get paid for work you did years ago? But on the flip side I agree that if the studios are making tons of money in reruns and rereleases sure the people responsible might get a piece of that. Why can't they just pay out residuals based on how often it's watched? These days it must be really easy to track that and to build it in the contracts. That way if no one is watching then no one gets paid. But if everyone is watching then everyone gets paid. Of course this is coming from someone that doesn't know anything about the movie business. From an outsiders POV both sides just seem pretty greedy.

Perhaps it's just semantics, but I always thought the term "stealing" is something the industry intentionally misuses to make it sound worse. Nothing gets stolen at any time. If someone steals something it's in the thief's possession, the original owner can't use it anymore, because all access is lost. This just doesn't apply to illegal movie downloads.

Re: Disney+ streaming service
Why didn't Disney allow people to buy the show or movies to own on the service? On YouTube I bought Buffy and 24 and can watch it anytime on their service without fear that it'll be removed.
