There's no way New Mutants is hitting Disney+ anytime soon. It's not only too dark for the Disney executives, but they are also being a little douchey lately with anything new that has LBGTQ or sexual tension, and apparently, New Mutants does. It was rumored at one point to be dumped on Hulu.

It's interesting how the streaming rights stuff works us for some of this Disney stuff. I rewatched Frozen in anticipation of watching Frozen II (for the first time) and then I clicked to see if there was any Frozen shorts on there also. So I watched Olaf's Frozen Adventure which was the only one on there and then I googled Frozen shorts and saw there was another one called Frozen Fever and the reason it wasn't on Disney + is because it's part of a Disney Shorts Collection that is on netflix which I assume will go over once the rights expire.

There are those movies that were on there at launch (or near launch) and then were removed for some reason or another.

The fourth (?) Pirates movie is based on a completely different book and has some complicated rights, so it's not on there
The Home Alone movies were removed after Xmas.

This list is old (January) but the article goes through some of why this is:

That's nuts. I am surprised it is that quick after going on VOD. Like give it a month or two to make people buy it.

I am fine with it too. I wasn't going to buy it regardless, but just from a business sense, if people only have to wait 2 weeks, maybe they do. Although, with the quarantine, maybe people are like fuck it, I need it now.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Has anyone been having issues with the picture going black but the sound running on Disney+ ? I've been watching Avenger's Earth Mightiest Heroes and some scenes suddenly become darker and sometimes the picture just goes black. I checked on other TVs and streaming devices and the same thing kept happening.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Not for me, and my son and I caught some of Mightiest Heroes this weekend.

On another note, I’m using a Roku Streaming Stick +, and used it on my 1080p TV with a small 5.1 setup with an Atmos receiver. And wouldn’t you know it, it allows the Atmos sound to come through. Thought that was pretty cool being plugged into a 1080 TV.

The Muppets series from 2015 is up and I thought the first episode was pretty funny. I am a little surprised it made the family friendly cut for Disney+.

Eh, Simpsons is on there.

It probably isn't available on kids accounts, though.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

So the Disney + app on my Roku Ultra had for some reason never been recognizing the 4K Ultra streams that Disney + had. They always were indicted as just HD. It had been that way since I first installed the app back in November.

I guess there was an update or something, because my Roku Ultra is finally recognizing the 4K Ultra streams and it's indicted on the movie playback menu icon finally. Thank God.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

I swear Disney+ used to have different viewing options to watch 4k or 1080 copies. Now it's just defaulting to 4k and irritating me. I watch 4k on Vudu and Netflix and have no problem, bit Disney has that annoying motion filter thing going on so that any fast-moving shots start looking like video game cut scenes. That filter is turned off on my tv, so it's something in their app or source material. And Disney tells me the app automatically detects my 4k tv and they can't stop it. Does anyone know if this is true? Can I stop this?

Re: Disney+ streaming service

I’ve never seen that option before. You can do it on your streaming device more than likely, but Disney+ just defaults to the best option your TV can provide.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Updated the OS and the app on our 2016 LG 4K TV. Still only get HD with HDR and not 4K. We had 4K HDR with 2.0 sound when it first launched. Then after 1 update to the app, we gained 5.1 and lost 4K.

Christmas day I chatted via support and was told since it was new service they'd have to work out the issues. They also suggested I submit feedback for he service about our dissatisfaction. I've done that multiple times. Here we are 3+ months later and still no fix.

Thanks for the articles! I was wondering why Dark Phoenix wasn't on Disney+ but now I know the reason.
