Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service
All my ABC DVR recordings are gone too. I’m not happy at all about that. I thought we would get to keep them until they expire after nine months…

Wow. Shocked this deal didn't get done.

That's super shitty about the DVR stuff. I'm not surprised about the lack of a deal though. This seems to be an on-going thing with Google - who likes playing hardball and throwing additional crappy channels on there instead.

Ah, I was assuming they wanted price parity with what Hulu Live is paying (since they're more or less owned in-house). YTTV overtook Hulu Live a couple months ago and figured that might play into it, but I do know YTTV loves their opt out options.

These budget live TV streaming services will continue to have problems with content rights holders. The costs to acquire content that people want is just going to keep going up.

Been a YTTV guy for a few yrs, really like the service...but with Fubo acquiring Root Sports for the same price (for now) it's a no brainer for me to make the switch next month. There's going to be a lot of jockeying for position for channels/price between streaming services... with no long term contracts I suspect the marketplace will end up deciding things.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service
Well, they kind of started out as a "budget" provider at $35 per month, but that price point was never sustainable. They've had to keep raising prices as they added more channels and channel costs went up and then dropped basically all the RSNs because of cost and now are having issues with Disney. And even if they reach a deal with Disney, but cost is going to be passed down to the customer. Now they're $65 per month. It would not surprise me if YouTube TV starts pushing $100/month in a few years. I get that most people simply don't want a $100+/month TV bill and that's why many dropped cable and satellite. But, now it doesn't seem like "cheaper" alternatives can sustain cheaper price points.
I know Philo is probably considered now the "budget" provider because they have no sports, no Disney or network TV or NBC owned channels.

If you have a custom Live Guide, you have to go back and add your Disney channels to it. That's been pretty annoying, but everything should be back except for your local ABC affiliate. Mine hasn't been added back yet.

Interesting issue:
I switched from an older Yamaha to a new Denon AVR-760H receiver and YouTubeTV went from 5.1 on the older unit back down to 2.0 audio on the new via AppleTV.

Now that all my bills are in for the month, that $15 credit was pretty nice.

Does yttv have an option for adding separate profiles in different addresses?
My wife is a Traveling nurse and my brother in a different city has yttv.
Would my brother be able to set up a separate profile for her even with her living in another part of the country?

I think you could do it as long as she doesn't try to watch the local channels live (ABC, NBC, CW, FOX, CBS). That's really the only time YouTube TV asks for you to verify your location.

I'm not positive how it will work across the country, but it's worked in different cities with different locals for me in the past.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service
I think I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but that's what my girlfriend did when we were trying to watch the Olympics last year. Her dad (in Detroit) added her (in VA) to his household. We were able to use it, but there was a notice that there was a 30 day traveling waiver or something. I don't believe she tried to access YTTV after the first day or two of the games - I then got Peacock - so I'm not sure what would've happened after that period.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service
So I'm new to YTTV, switched over from Hulu to try it out. I think the pricing is pretty comparable (I'm keeping base Hulu for the library), plus there are a few networks YTTV offers that we like that weren't on Hulu. With the Hulu DVR switch, that was one of the main differentiators which is no longer the case.
Anyway - so far, after getting used to the interface, I like it. We're currently just using my profile, I see the 'family' thing, I'm not sure if that's better or worse than the way Hulu does it, just different.
And yes, I see that I finished my two week trial just a few days before they have a 50$ off deal for the first month after the trial. Dammit.
Question - is it possible to delete single episodes of shows from the DVR?
Like if I record a daily or weekly show, like the morning news (or in my case, SNL and I Want my 80s), then I watch one episode, can I delete that episode from the DVR? I know the DVR space is unlimited, it's based on time since recording, but I don't need (nor do I want) 9 months of daily news or a weekly show. Once I watch it, odds are I'm done with it. I understand some things are on VoD as well, and I like having the option to choose which to watch, VoD or DVR, if you have both versions. But just because I add something to my 'library' doesn't mean I want to keep every single episode for 9 months. I know with 'cloud' and stuff we're so used to having everything forever (or at least 9 months), but this is one case where I want to be able to easily delete stuff.
If not, that seems like a big gap in features, and assuming Hulu doesn't do the same when they change their DVR, that could be a reason to shift back to Hulu.

No you cannot delete any content from the Cloud DVR.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service
Yeah you can't delete anything because you don't actually have it saved anywhere All you have is a link to a stream saved on their servers. You click the episode and it initiates the stream. I don't see why this is a big gap in features. Is it obnoxious sometimes when you are looking at a show? Sure. But the ability to be able to see everything available for that show is pretty invaluable.

On one hand nice, my folks love the weather channel. On the other hand, I hope another price hike isn't en route.
