It is not a handcuff. It is intentionally keeping prices low by not catering to RSNs. I am all about sports and miss seeing Dbacks and Suns regularly, but I also appreciate the fact that my YTTV bill isn't $40 higher due to having RSNs..

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

I switched to YouTube TV last summer and I haven't had many regrets. My main complaint is that when they pull channels due to contract disputes, they pull all your DVR recordings from those channels. They had a dispute with ABC and I lost all my Shark Tank DVR recordings. When that dispute was resolved, my recordings did return, but I was really annoyed by it.

I don't watch RSNs. I'm a SEC guy so I essentially get to watch any SEC game with YouTube TV and I do pay an extra $10.99 a month subscription to watch Redzone during football season. I think YouTube TV runs well and I really like that it's portable and I can watch my DVR recordings on break at work or when I'm travelling.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

Switched from DirecTV to YouTubeTV 2-3 years ago after DirecTV refused to give me any kind of a discount on my $240/month bill. Haven't regretted a second of it. With all the extra services I subscribe to (Hulu, Netflix, Disney, ESPN etc.) I think I'm at about $120/month. No way I would ever switch back.
Also don't miss the 10-15 minute reboot times my DirecTV boxes had after a power failure or if I unplugged something. I've had a ton of offers since from DirecTV to come back, but they had their chance.

Youtube tv favorites

I recently got Youtube tv. I was able to select 35 favorite channels to watch so I would not need to go thru the entire channel guide. Now I can't find how to use my favorites by just clicking on one to watch that channel. I can get to my favorites line up but if I click on one all it does is remove it from my line up it does not start the channel. Thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: Youtube tv favorites

What device are you using to watch YouTube TV? On Roku you have to go to Live and there is a symbol with three horizontal lines in decreasing length. Select that symbol and reorder it to custom.

Either the Earth has shifted off its axis or YouTubeTV has finally flipped the switch on surround sound for AppleTV.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

This is our first time using YtTV For nfl.
I have it set to record all nfl games.
I tried to watch my recording of the end of the Steeler/Bengal game and the beginng of the Chiefs/Cards game.

Both the end of the OT game and the beginning of the other are not there.
The OT game cuts off with three minutes left and the Chiefs game starts with the chiefs already up 14-0.

?

Also the Key Plays tab for the Chiefs Cards game shows the plays for the steeler game.

Check back on it now. Sometimes it gets cut off and then resets after a little bit with the full game.

Give the Chiefs game a little more time. It just ended recently. They generally do a good job, but sometimes the DVR messes up sports games, but then fixes the mistake later on.

Yeah it isn't instantaneous. Sometimes it takes an hour or so.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

Yeah that’s a weird “feature”.
On a regular dvr even the web based one Comcast uses you can go right to the beginning of a recording and start watching without waiting an hour for it to appear.

That's one of the quirks with streaming DVRs. I don't seem to have any problems with regular tv shows, but there are some glitches with sports recordings. I know people with Hulu's DVR were having trouble with the Tennessee vs. Pittsburgh game on Saturday.

But if a game goes into OT there are certain things they have to do on their side to ensure the end of the game is provided. Do a search on Reddit, engineers have explained it from what I remember.

They've been airing reruns for awhile after G4 laid off all its staff and shuttered operations.

I just noticed that they have added the time in the upper right corner when you pause or fast forward. I really like that since you don't have a cable box with a clock with streaming.

I’ve noticed that on the iPad app and iPhone when you go to the ”live” section it doesn’t allow you to move forward on the guide.

Weird. I can't move forward either on iPad. It's fine on Roku though. The "live guide" is my least favorite part of YouTube TV. I wish you could skip ahead a day or two and not only be able to scroll through one hour at a time.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

Yeh big issue to not be able to move ahead more then an hour or so at a time.
