Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

The variety article was updated: YouTube TV is going to cut its price by $10 so subscribers can get Peacock. https://variety.com/2021/digital/new...ls-1235074726/

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

According to Google, NBCU has asked that YouTube TV bundle Peacock, NBC’s own direct-to-consumer streaming service. That would mean that, in some cases, subscribers pay twice for the same content. In addition, subscribers would need to download and use the Peacock app separately from YouTube TV.

Google added, “NBCU is an important partner for us and as you can imagine, this is not the outcome that we want. We’re still in active conversations with NBCU and are hopeful we can get past this impasse to keep their content available on YouTube TV.”
What a stupid fucking requirement.

But I guess this is what you'd expect from a Comcast owned company taking on a Google owned one.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

I've had Peacock in the past, but only the $5/mo version (and then just used it to watch WWE). Will the $10/mo version make up for what could be lost from YouTube TV?

If not ... I may be done with YouTube TV. In the two years I've had it, price has nearly doubled. I still don't get anything more than mono audio. I love the versatility of viewing on different devices and the DVR system, but losing NBC channels is a deal-breaker.

I already have Peacock through Xfinity, does this mean Id have to pay extra for it to have it on YTTV? Pay for it twice?

You don't pay for it through YTTV. They are just telling you if you lose the channels, sign up for the app.

NBC wants it bundled but YTTV isn't playing that game.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

So no word on how "short" this extension is?

I was ready to ride it out with YouTube TV for a few weeks. I really do like how they do things compared to similar streaming services. Things I watch that I would lose were WWE. But this would give me a good excuse to bail on them, since I don't really enjoy it that much anymore. I watch MSNBC, but getting that cut out may be better for my psychological health (as a lot of it seems intended to get people angry or scared). Sunday Night Football would be tough, but it's only 1 game. And from what I've heard, I could watch the games on a mobile device through the NFL's site.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

YouTube Tv just added the following as "add ons" to its service...Screambox, Fandor, Comedy Dynamics, UP Faith & Family, and Pantaya.

I'm loving that YouTube is giving options...and most come with a free 7 day trial:

Oh wow. Sweet. We can cancel FRNDLY TV now. Wife needed that to see Hallmark. Now I don't have to worry about it!

Great news...I had just signed up for FRNDLY for the holiday flicks but I'm cancelling it.

Re: YouTube TV -- Live TV streaming service

Just set up a new Chromecast with Google TV. Had a bunch of freezes on YTTV. Apparently it is an issue right now with all devices, but not a good first impression.

Booger, looks like GameShowNetwork is almost entirely new stuff. I was hoping for more old school shows with Richard Dawson and Dick Clark and such hosting.

YouTube TV could lose ABC, ESPN, and other Disney channels on Dec. 17th. https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/yout...k/?source=home
YouTube will cut prices by $15 if the channels are dropped.

And the slow suicide of linear channels continues.

Disney has long history of getting deals done so I am not worried. Hopefully there aren't any price increases, though.
