Creepshow, Season 2 – Premieres April 1, New Episodes Every Thursday
Based on the 1982 horror-comedy classic, the anthology Creepshow returns for a second season and is still the most fun you’ll ever have being scared! A comic book comes to life in a series of vignettes, exploring terrors ranging from murder, creatures, monsters, and delusions to the supernatural and unexplainable. You never know what will be on the next page. Executive produced by showrunner Greg Nicotero, Creepshow’s second season will feature guest stars Kevin Dillon, Iman Benson, Josh McDermitt, Keith David, Molly Ringwald, Barbara Crampton, Justin Long, and D’Arcy Carden, among others.
Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula – Premieres April 1
Four years after South Korea’s total decimation in Train to Busan, the zombie thriller that captivated audiences worldwide, acclaimed director Yeon Sang-ho brings us Peninsula, the next nail-biting chapter in his post-apocalyptic world. Jung-seok, a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.
The Power – Premieres April 8
London, 1974. As Britain prepares for electrical blackouts to sweep across the country, trainee nurse Val (Rose Williams) arrives for her first day at the crumbling East London Royal Infirmary. With most of the patients and staff evacuated to another hospital, Val is forced to work the night shift, finding herself in a dark, near-empty building. Within these walls lies a deadly secret, forcing Val to face both her own traumatic past and deepest fears in order to confront the malevolent force that’s intent on destroying everything around her.
The Banishing – Premieres April 15
From acclaimed director Chris Smith (Creep, Severance, Triangle) comes The Banishing, which tells the true story of the most haunted house in England. A young reverend and his wife and daughter move into a manor with a horrifying secret. When a vengeful spirit haunts the little girl and threatens to tear the family apart, the reverend and his wife are forced to confront their beliefs. They must turn to black magic by seeking the help of a famous Occultist…or risk losing their daughter.
The Last Drive-in with Joe Bob Briggs – Premieres April 16, New Episodes Every Friday
The hit original series returns with Briggs, the world’s foremost drive-in movie critic, presenting eclectic horror movie double features, interrupting the films to expound upon their merits, histories, and significance to genre cinema.
2021 FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards – Premieres April 18 at 8pm ET
In April 2021, Shudder partners with FANGORIA to bring the Chainsaw Awards, hosted by actor and writer David Dastmalchian, to fans across the globe. This year’s nominated films include The Invisible Man, Freaky, Relic, Color Out of Space, and Possessor as well as actors Vince Vaughn, Kathryn Newton, and Elisabeth Moss.
Boys from County Hell – Premieres April 22
Welcome to Six Mile Hill, a sleepy Irish backwater whose only claim to fame is the somewhat dubious local legend that Bram Stoker once spent a night in the local pub. It’s home to Eugene Moffat, a young man who fills most of his days drinking pints with his friends and pranking tourists who come to visit the gravesite of Abhartach, a legendary Irish vampire some believe to have inspired ‘Dracula.’ When a personal tragedy forces Eugene to go and work for his gruff, no-nonsense father, he finds himself on the site of a controversial new road development that threatens to destroy the town’s livelihood. But strange events unfold when Eugene and the crew tear down a famous cairn believed to be the final resting place of Abhartach, and they soon come under attack from a sinister force that has infected one of their workmates. As the night closes in, The Boys must fight for survival while discovering the true horror of a myth that hits much closer to home than any of them realize.
In Search of Darkness: Part II – Premieres April 26
Building on the hit 2019 superdoc that Forbes called “a scary good magnum opus,” In Search of Darkness: Part II dives deeper into the fabled practical-effects decade of iconic and eclectic ‘80s horror movies that changed the course of film history. Packed with over four hours of brand-new interviews, including such legendary horror icons as Robert Englund, Nancy Allen, Linnea Quigley, and special-effects wizard Tom Savini, Part II features 15 new faces alongside 40-plus returning members of the original In Search of Darkness cast to delve into more fan-favorite titles of ‘80s horror, year-by-year, expanding its scope to cover more international releases and spotlighting horror-career retrospectives.
Deadhouse Dark – Premieres April 29
An anthology of six interconnected horror short films, Deadhouse Dark is anchored by a woman who receives a ‘mystery box’ from the dark web, each item within it gradually unveiling a dark and troubling truth. A boxful of dark and chilling tales of terror inspired by frighteningly familiar modern trends including dark web mystery boxes, dashcam footage, and Insta-fame hungry vloggers. Deadhouse Dark is a giant mystery box of chocolates – while there is something in there to suit a variety of different tastes, in the end chocolate is still chocolate. And who doesn’t love chocolate?

Horror Movies Coming to Shudder in May
NEW SHUDDER ORIGINAL & EXCLUSIVE FILMS
Fried Barry – Premieres May 7
Fried Barry follows the story of a drug-addled degenerate who, after yet another bender, gets abducted by aliens. Barry takes a backseat as his alien visitor assumes control of his body and takes it for a joyride through Cape Town. What follows is an onslaught of drugs, sex and violence as Barry’s alien tourist enters the weird and wonderful world of humankind.
The Reckoning – Premieres May 13
After losing her husband during the Great Plague, Grace Haverstock (Charlotte Kirk, Ocean’s 8) is unjustly accused of being a witch and placed in the custody of England’s most ruthless witch-hunter, Judge Moorcroft (Sean Pertwee, Dog Soldiers). Forced to endure physical and emotional torture while steadfastly maintaining her innocence, Grace must face her own inner demons as the Devil himself starts to work his way into her mind. Directed by modern master of horror Neil Marshall.
PG: Psycho Goreman – Premieres May 20
In PG: Psycho Goreman, young siblings Mimi and Luke unwittingly resurrect an ancient alien overlord who was entombed on Earth millions of years ago after a failed attempt to destroy the universe. They nickname the evil creature Psycho Goreman (or PG for short) and use the magical amulet they discovered to force him to obey their childish whims. It isn’t long before PG’s reappearance draws the attention of intergalactic friends and foes from across the cosmos and a rogues’ gallery of alien combatants converges in small-town suburbia to battle for the fate of the galaxy. Written and directed by Steven Kostanski (The Void, The Divide, Father’s Day).
Skull: The Mask – Premieres May 27
In this splatter-filled supernatural slasher, a Pre-Columbian artifact contains the spirit of Anhangá, the executioner of the god Tahawantinsupay. Whoever wears the masked is possessed by Anhangá and compelled to commit sacrifices to resurrect his god. It’s up to a museum assistant and a policewoman to stop the slaughter before the ritual is completed. A throwback treat for fans of ‘80s slashers and gory practical effects.

Psycho Goreman is pretty fun as a weird but surprisingly violent b-movie monster throwback to the 90s.

The Reckoning is from Neil Marshall but doesn't really know what it wants to be - witch hunting craziness, devil thriller, or action-style revenge. I'm sure the BDSM crowd will like it.

Yeah, I have the 4K disc, but it's awesome and very Sam Raimi-esque. A buddy of mine saw it on Shudder and thought it was awesome, so hopefully more people peep it out!

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans
I wasn't crazy about The Boys from County Hell. The trailer looked great. But it had all the best parts from the movie. There were only a couple laugh out loud moments. Most of the comedy was a dud.
A big problem for me was the Irish accents were so thick. I couldn't understand what they were saying half the time. Eventually, I turned on the subtitles.
I give them a lot of credit for completely reworking the vampire/Dracula legend. That was interesting and made the film worth watching.

Caught Joe Bob's Class of 1984 last night. Fun flick! It was my first time seeing it. So many movies that I otherwise never would have seen thanks to Joe Bob.
I'll check out Audition soon, but I have a feeling it's not really my thing.

I'm not too crazy about watching movies with sub-titles but I did manage to watch most of it.

After hearing about its torture porn rep and certain specific scenes years ago, I've been avoiding Audition. But the completist in me now has to watch it, despite not being my thing, either. (Sure, I could do the "Just Joe Bob" commentary, but for a movie I've never seen before, it feels like a cheat.)

^ You may have to watch it twice. I hated hated hated Audition the first time that I saw it, but I watched it again the next day (when showing it to a friend to get his reaction) and really liked it.

I don't think Audition is torture porn. It's not like Hostel. It influenced Hostel, but it's not the same. I hate those movies. This one's worth watching.
I really enjoyed the Joe Bob commentary. He pointed out things I hadn't seen before. Made me appreciate the film much more.

I mentioned this in another thread over in the Movie Forum but still loathe the term Torture Porn and curse Critic David Edelstein for even mentioning it.
Most if not all films being described that way are just leaning heavily into content long done by Exploitation films, though there are clearly films released shortly after the success of Hostel & Saw that are highly influenced by them (South Korea's The Butcher from 2007 is the first one that comes to mind).
Audition was made 6-years before the term was even coined and it's crazy to start going back and labeling all films with content named above as such.
By that account films like Mark of the Devil (1970) & Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS (1975), would also be labeled that way.
I finally sat down and watched the loose-remake of The Queen of Black Magic (2019). Loved it, though I'm probably incredibly biased because of how much I love this new crop of Indonesian Horror filmmakers. Appreciate so much that Shudder (and to an extent Netflix) are giving these filmmakers (Timo Tjahjanto, Joko Anwar, Kimo Stamboel, etc.) a place to show their chops.
Love this film. Oddly enough the
