Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

In the past when I had AMC+, they didn't have the full Shudder library. It was maybe 50%-75%. There was definitely some missing stuff. I don't know if that's changed. But at the time, there was enough movies and shows missing that I switched back to the Shudder app.

The wording on the website says you have full access to the Shudder library so it must have changed.

That's old news. If you subscribe to AMC+ directly (not via prime or apple), you get access to the full library. You also get access to Sundance TV, IFC, and a couple of other channels, as well.

How bad is the AMC+ app compared to the Shudder one across different devices? I watch mainly through my Xbox, but it would be nice to have the option to download movies for trips. It might be worth the extra $12 a year for that and the other channels.

Edit: Well, I guess bad requires existing, which apparently AMC+ for Xbox does not.

If you love horror movies it's great.

However, if you already have a massive unwatched backlog of Shows and Movies, will you have the time for this? Just a thought. Don't subscribe to more streaming services than you have time for, no matter how cheap it is.

Are parts of Shudder still not available if you have AMC+ instead? Iirc, the live JBB stuff was pure Shudder only.

I’m going to do a free week here shortly, pretty much just for Shudder content, but might as well do AMC+ if everything is available now.

As far as I have seen, AMC+ gets all of Shudder. I have AMC+ 2 or more years and have never not gotten everything Shudder has.

After having it for a few years, I cancelled my Shudder subscription this month

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

I have only ever had it for a couple months at a time.

There are usually only a few things I want to watch then cancel and wait another 6 moths and join again.

Same, maybe mid-September through mid-November usually for me.

Last Drive-In S7 back on tonight with 1925's Phantom of the Opera (100 years, yo!) Completely unfamiliar with the guest, Spencer Charnas, but if the episode is just facts/trivia-talk along with the usual Darcy cosplay (Like old times) then I'll be a happy camper. The songs & skits were starting to be too much.

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

Does anyone here carry AMC+? I do because of all the horror content but it is worth the $100 bucks a year for me to keep it.

That being said, my sub just renewed and they never sent me any notification whatsoever that it was time. Usually, I will cancel to see if I get a discount offer from them or if there is a current credit card offer floating out there. Sometimes I will let it cancel for a month or two to save money and resub up later while catching up on other services or see if they come up with a better offer later. They gave me no chance to do that at all.

I was just curious if any has cancelled with them recently and if they gave you a better offer and if they did, what was it? I may cancel out of spite and just resub up later, but I will have to go through their customer service to do that if I want to get a refund.

It is bullshit that they didn't even send one email notification out about the resub. All the others do.

That does sound sketchy by AMC. Reminds me of a magazine place that renewed a subscription without informing me.

Yup same thing happened to me. Got no email and saw on my CC that AMC+ billed me $95 and change for another year with no notification.

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

Pretty sure that happened to me as well a couple years ago. Two days after the auto-renew I got an email from them with the following:

"Your AMC+ subscription renewed for the current annual price of $83.88 (plus tax if applicable) on December 18, 2022. Unfortunately, due to a system issue, you may not have received a renewal reminder before your anniversary. We apologize for this error. Your customer experience and satisfaction are of utmost importance to us, so we are extending your eligibility window to cancel and get a full refund for your current subscription to January 20, 2023. During this period, you may cancel your subscription and request a full refund byreplying to this email, or by calling us at 844-995-0749. "

Not sure if they still haven't fixed it, or if your issue is something else. Definitely sketchy or careless of them at best.

Good luck!

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

An update: I chatted with them and told them the situation and why I was likely going to cancel but was nice about it. They said they were having no sales but then offered me a 40% refund if I didn't ask them to cancel my renewal. Yes, please. I don't know if I just got lucky with the right customer service rep or what. And it had just renewed just a day ago.

So, I stuck around. Already got a pending credit on my card. Now that is customer service! Eat shit Peacock! Peacock could learn a thing or two from these other services.

And I asked them if they send a confirmation email out about renewals. They said they send one out q month in advance, but I checked and I never got anything, and I know I didn't get anything last year. And I may have bitched about it and got a discount on last year's renewal too. I seem to remember that now.

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

I boycotted AMC for a long time because of a bad Shudder experience -- I did cancel, multiple times, yet they kept billing me anyway.

Now, I use Privacy for ALL online transactions and subscriptions. I don't bother with cancelling, I just set the card to decline (one-time use, spend limit, or manual shut down).

My other move is I don't pay for any monthly streaming services. One time payment for a year with a deal (usually around this time of year), or I pass.

Shudder is celebrating it's 10th anniversary. A little promo reel with lots of horror talent.

I have Shudder through AMC+ It's definitely IMO the best horror service. Definitely better than Screambox.

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

Joe Bob posted on IG to be sure to tune in to the season finale of Last Drive-In this friday. He made it sound like this is going to be the final episode of the series. If it's true, what a big blow. Considering that the last 2 episodes (Don't Torture a Duckling & House/Haunted Hill) have been my most favorite episodes the show has had in years.

Joe Bob confirmed that tonight is the final regular episode of The Last Drive-In, though he did say Shudder has commissioned four specials.
