Correct. Netflix also has film/tv shows, etc., in DV HD, as well.

As far as I can tell, they've never restricted the free trial codes. New and returning customers can use them. And they almost always have a free month trial code going at any time. I think I'm going on 6 months for free now. I just cancel when my trial is over and sign up again with the current code. The current code is BETWEEN for one month free.

re: Paramount+ with Showtime - ViacomCBS streaming service

can someone tell me if this service would have commercials for a show like Survivor for the older seasons such as 30 or 41? I know the current season would have commercials but it's unclear to me what they do with reruns of network shows. We just got into that show and Netflix and Amazon keep rearranging what seasons they offer which is frustrating.

They don't just show the broadcast versions of these shows with the commercials that originally aired, if that's what you mean. You'll get commercials if you have the lower tier subscription but that's about it.

I don't even think the current season has commercials unless you're watching live, IIRC when I was watching Big Brother there were no commercials if I watched it the day after. Those advertisers pay for their commercials to air on broadcast but not on streaming.

Does anyone else use Paramount+ on a Vizio smart tv and have issues? It seems like whenever I try and use it the interface is just clunky. Like it won’t respond when I try to move around the menu right away, sometimes it’ll reboot randomly, button commands don’t always want to work (mainly for the menu). It’s the only app on my tv I have regular issues with.

Also despite having a premium subscription it seems like there are still some forced ads before shows at times.

The short 30 second promo before the start of every program is just part of it. It's an in-house promo. When they say No ads, that means actually promos for products that interrupt a program.

I figured as much but still kinda bullshit to say no ads when they are forcing an ad on you. Not a big deal but still.

Amazon Prime and HBO Max does in house promos at the start of shows too, but the really egregious thing is that Paramount Plus makes them unskippable.

Have you tried seeing if it needs an update or uninstalling / reinstalling?

I had an issue a while back with several shows not able to play. After reinstalling it still didn’t help. I tried resetting my internet connection and that worked. Of course this was on a TCL running Roku.

On Vizio’s TVs (I have one) Smartcast none of the apps actually run on the TV anyways, they’re all HTML5 based running off a server somewhere. If you’re having a problem with the local app I suggest just casting it from your phone/iPad or using some other streaming device, anything really.

Hate the Vizio’s Smartcast app setup, never use them. Mostly use my Shield for streaming.

Maybe this is my problem as I have a Vizio Smartcast as well. Although I don’t have issues with other apps I use regularly (Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, HBO Max, Disney+, YouTube).

Paramount+ is the only app that I have problems with. Once the shows start they play fine, but just the app itself and the menu interface is slow/clunky.

Paramount+ is just a shitty app in general. The Smartcast app is just the Android version running off a server somewhere, which just slows it down even more.

As I said, if you have a Vizio you might seriously think about picking up a streaming device. Amazon frequently sells the original 4k Stick for $25.

My girlfriend and I have a Roku stick, but that’s going to be for the bedroom tv when we eventually get it mounted. Maybe I’ll just buy another one of those or a Fire Stick for my living room tv.

Using "girlfriend," "stick," "bedroom," and "mounted" - that sentence did not go where I thought it would.

Unless we consider the latest where DV and HDR and possibly Atmos do not work on the 4800 Ultra. P+ blames the Roku Fall 2021 update and states it won't resolve itself until the Roku Spring 2022 update. Roku blames P+. So it's been months that it quit working. Not even sure if we are getting true 4K since then either.

Other than that, I agree it works great for launching, scrolling, searching, and playing content on Roku.

re: Paramount+ with Showtime - ViacomCBS streaming service

I’ve had CBS All Access/Paramount+ for a bit. However, I guess first time I tried to D/L anything. Kind of pissed u have to upgrade to commercial free to D/L to watch later.

I don’t D/L a lot. Just for flying, so sitting at airport wanted to D/L something. Super annoying. Even more annoying? I clicked the box that asked if I wanted to see about upgrading. I figured I’d at least look at cost difference. Nope. Won’t let me. Says I have to go to PC to do. I don’t travel with a laptop. Only iPad/iPhone. What are we in 1979?

Yes, 1st World Problems.

re: Paramount+ with Showtime - ViacomCBS streaming service

Just came across this:

Spring is in the air, and when you're not out enjoying the nice weather Paramount Plus wants to you be checking out all of their new and existing content with a brand new "Spring Savings" deal.

Using the code "SPRINGSAVINGS" consumers can get a Paramount Plus annual plan (12 months) at a 25% discount. So for a limited time you can sign up for a full-year of Paramount Plus, normally $49.99 for the ad-supported version, for about $35.

The Paramount Plus Spring Savings deal will be available consumers until May 5, 2022.
the deal appears to work for the Premium ad-free plan as well.

Anyone else having an issue with the Paramount+ app and the Apple TV app not communicating anymore? Some of the Paramount+ shows I watch will show in the 'up next' but don't get marked as watched. Others don't show up at all. Seems to have started in the last couple of weeks. I tried turning off and back on the sharing setting for Paramount+

I just asked a similar question in the Disney+ thread, but if I grab this deal will it kick-in after my free year (which is up in Nov) of P+ through T-Mobile deal expires? This sounds like a solid price to pay for a full year in advance, but I have about 8 months left for free which saves me $40 during that time.

I guess I could just sign up for a similar deal much later in the year, maybe when they run a fall is in the air promo or something like that, lol.

Ok, I have Paramount + using an Amazon Firestick to stream. How do you know when a new episode of a show is added? Currently I am having to open up the show, scroll to Episodes, and see if a new one is added. There has to be an easier way.

Is the show on your watch list?
