re: Paramount+ with Showtime - ViacomCBS streaming service

Paramount+ had Scream 1-5 leading up to the release of Scream VI. Then Scream VI hit the service and now they have Scream 1-3, 5-6, but no 4. We'd just gotten through 1-3 whem the change came. Pretty silly.

Different rights holder on 4 than the rest of the series. It is currently on Starz to stream.

I contacted P+ via chat earlier and all she could tell me is that they are planning, sometime in the future (no date given), to air the correct show from this past Sunday.

Does this strike anyone else as completely odd? We're both so confused.

When did you check? I just checked and the entire broadcast from Sunday is up along with last year's as well.

It literally went up an hour ago. I was chatting with the P+ rep about two hours ago.

Still so odd. Thanks DJariya, you're the man!

As posted above, Showtime, the network is shutting down this year and that will include the linear channel. They are merging with Paramount + So if you want to keep Showtime content, you'll need to keep your Paramount + with Showtime subscription.

The new merged service starts June 27th.

Where does it say that the linear channel is going away?

It’s not going away. The linear channel is being rebranded Paramount + with Showtime. The Showtime streaming app is going away.

I should have clarified that I meant the Showtime name by itself is done. That’s why I said you need the new app to stream everything including Showtime.

By the end of the year, the company plans to sunset the Showtime app and rebrand the linear premium pay-TV channel to “deliver a distinguished premium service with hit originals across linear and streaming – the first to truly integrate streaming and linear content this way.”

I know Jeff has Showtime, so if it wants to continue to have it, he needs to pay for Paramount + now.

"Paramount+ with Showtime" streaming service launches on June 27, replacing the separate Paramount+ and Showtime streaming services.

As far as I can tell, the Showtime linear channel service will be rebranded "Paramount+ with Showtime" at a later date this year, yet to be announced. In the meantime Showtime linear (and its Showtime Anytime streaming app) should continue as normal. The Hulu add-on Showtime service is technically Showtime linear, so for you, lacubs, there should be no change at this time. For anyone that has Showtime through Prime Video Channels, Apple TV Channels, or YouTube TV, that is also Showtime linear.

Add Paramount+ to the list of streamers that have removed content from its platform in exchange for a tax write-off.

The Paramount Global-backed streamer has canceled Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies after a single season, reversed its decision on a season two pickup for the animated and kids-focused Star Trek: Prodigy, axed competition series Queen of the Universe after two seasons and nixed The Game revival after two seasons. Additionally, all four shows will be removed from Paramount+ as the conglomerate joins Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery in taking tax write-offs for underperforming series. The news comes as Paramount+ will incorporate Showtime into the platform in the U.S. on Tuesday.

I kept meaning to get to the Grease show and haven't yet.

I'm sorry, Media Conglomerate, I'm sorry! I promise I'll do better! I'll watch right away! I'll recommend and recommend and work for you for free! Please don't keep taking shows away, I promise I'll prioritize my time around your content!

So ridiculous.

Streaming is now becoming like linear TV. If you aren't watching/streaming right away, it's probably going to get canceled or removed from the service.

There is just too much content right now. Too many streaming services and way too much content.

Hopefully a purge of both will happen soon but I do not like the purging of already created content.

They removed Rise of the Pink Ladies and Prodigy already, we had 4 episodes to go on Pink Ladies and were going to watch them tonight and tomorrow.

The new Paramount + with Showtime merged service starts tomorrow, so not really surprised they did it now.

Sometimes they'll show up for purchase on Vudu/iTunes/Amazon if you want to finish them, but I bet one of the free streaming sites will acquire them.

I've been binging Shameless over the last 3 months...I'm halfway through season 10. Of course, earlier today the entire series just disappeared from Paramount Plus. I didn't know they were going to pull it.

Fortunately (or rather unfortunately for me based on how the last season or so have felt) I found it on Netflix, so I can still watch the last 1.5 seasons.

This one is rather surprising because this was easily their most watched Series besides Dexter.

re: Paramount+ with Showtime - ViacomCBS streaming service

So that is interesting. I have a year paid of Paramount+ premiere or whatever the highest level is called. With this switch over, I now have access to all of the Showtime content that I didn't before. Cool I guess.

Edit: I guess I missed the email this morning. Explains I have access to the Showtime stuff until renewal..Cool.

Same. Email said the new rate will go into effect only when my year is up and it's being renewed.

It doesn't actually say that existing subscribers (on annual plans, for example) get Showtime without paying extra.
