The only one I get charged tax on in NY is Prime. All the other ones are no tax which is frankly shocking for NY.

I'm watching Perry Mason (Paramount Plus) time and time again then all of a sudden Amazon Prime has me watching Perry Mason with Freevee(with their fricking ads) when I can watch it ad free with Paramount Plus.

Please Amazon Prime don't mix tv shows and movies and have everything Amazon Prime stand out at the top before the other pay channels.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

It seems like Amazon Prime has already started introducing ads. The promos(ads) at the start of a show were skip-able but lately not always. Especially annoying to me is that the football ones with some jerk mugging are never skip-able. Even more annoying is that subscription rate are going up to pay for this crap.

There's a number of "ad-free" tiers on streamers that still show commercials for their programming. Paramount + does it, and Apple TV does it as well.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

$3 prime credit for watching Lazyboy ad
It comes up on the Screen saver.
Or, on home screen - Highlight the Home icon and it was 2 rows down. Move left or right and back to Home icon to refresh ad until you see it.
Reward expires on Tue, Jan 30, 2024, 11:59 PM PT.

$4 prime credit Christmas Vacation / M&M's ad
On screen saver - look for Christmas Vacation. Play the M&M's ad.
Reward expires on Tue, Jan 30, 2024, 11:59 PM PT.

Both are added to account linked to Fire stick, and I got the emails right away. And looks like they are added to my acct already.

I don't know any other way to get to them. I don't think they are on the Amazon Video app.

Reported by others on another site, Firestick and Fire TV are the only way known to get those.

I just plugged in my 4K Firestick that I only use for travel and let the screensaver activate and the M&M ad came up. Got the free $4

Used it to rent Shin Godzilla.

To be clear, these are Prime Video credits.

There are apparently also a Ford Mustang Mach-E $5 Prime Video Credit, Marriott Bonvoy $5 Prime Video Credit, Firestone Tires $5 Prime Video Credit, Coca-Cola $5 Prime Video credit.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

Last night I got a Coke Ad where you scan the QR code and then send a $5 code to a friend and then you’ll get one yourself.

Haven’t found the Lazy Boy ad yet.

Was this not discussed in this thread yet? I learned about it in September:
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023...rting-in-2024/

I guess the specific date, January 29, 2024, is new, since the earlier news was just "early 2024".

It looks like the ad-free ad-on will just be a monthly thing. I can't find any info you can pay for it annually for a discount, like with the main Prime subscription.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

Streaming resembles cable more and more each day. I just can't wait until competing services begin offering bundles together, lol.

That's effectively what mergers and buyouts do. HBO and Discovery merge and create a bundle I don't want, because I would never voluntarily pay for a Discovery Channel subscription.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

How about a service that’s just Prime Video (with or without prime shipping, I don’t care) and none of the other junk?

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

I pay yearly and it’s a business expense for me. And I do watch Freevee shows like Leverage and Bosch Legacy and the commercials don’t bother me. They are at most 60 to 70 seconds.
