Have they crippled this unless you own a Fire 4k device or something? I can still find the occasional movie that trips the HDR flag, but none of the originals anymore.
Responding to your post a few weeks late, but I checked Amazon's UHD content and if you're TV and streaming device is 4K compatible, it should default to the UHD stream. I have a 4K TV and a 4K Apple TV and Jack Ryan's stream defaulted to the UHD version.

There doesn't appear to be a dedicated UHD section on their app.

I noticed it added to the Roku about 2-3 weeks ago. It might have been on Goliath or The Americans.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

How do I get Amazon to stop sending emails every week about new episodes I bought from their streaming? Thanks.

Rumor has it that NBA League Pass might become an Amazon Prime Channel.

They’ve been doing that awhile.

I just checked through every email I’ve gotten from Amazon in the last week, each has this at the bottom. Maybe it’s worth double checking?

Spoiler:

In that case, I’d say mark it as spam so they’re automatically deleted.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

The emails should come from different addresses, like store-news@amazon, [email protected], [email protected].

Check and see what address it’s from. It’s it’s unimportant, spam it. Or if there’s some common phrasing in the subject line (“new episodes” or whatever) block that phrase.

Where the boys are (1984)

is now on Amazon Prime. I've been wanting to see this for 30+ years. I remember seeing the VHS as a kid on shelves at the video store, but it was Rated R, so that was a no go.

Now I'm watching it now on Prime. Sure it's cheesy as hell and tame by today's standards, but it's nice seeing a very young Lynn Holly Johnson and Lisa Hartman in their 80's hair and bikinis.

The only thing that makes this Rated R is a few minor boob shots. No sex or nudity.

Only drawback it's in 4:3 and SD. But, it's certainly watchable.

Yes, I really liked this one also! Regarding the fact that Amazon is streaming this in 4:3, there is a widescreen version on YouTube that interestingly runs about 4 minutes longer that the Amazon version (94 minutes vs. 90 minutes) although the YT version isn't quite as sharp and pleasing to the eye. I watched both versions almost back-to-back, and I couldn't spot any differences between the two. IMDb says 94 minutes is the correct running time. Perhaps Amazon's version is sped up or something.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

so why does one service have the HD version and the other service have only SD when they are UV/MA compatible?

I just bought Papillon (73 version of course) on AP in HD. figured it wasn't MA and wouldn't transfer since Vudu was only SD. didn't bother checking the bottom. but, it is and transferred so i own the SD copy on Vudu and HD on AP.

how come they both don't have this in HD? i mean i'm glad i have both, but Vudu interface for me is just more user friendly and don't love the AP app. so while tempted to watch in Vudu, i don't see why i would do that when better quality on AP...

It's what they're given by the studios.

but, is there a reason one gets the better over the other, especially since the price for both is the same?
