$20 is already too much for Netflix, unless they make their annoying and intrusive interface completely customizable and have super high bitrates rather than trying to get away with the lowest possible.

Netflix has picked up some of the shows that P+ canceled and removed. Super Pumped S1 is up on Netflix, for example.

I'm finally getting a warning to set a home base on my Netflix account, so I'll likely drop down from 4K to the free T-Mobile tier, and let my daughter in college claim it as the home account. I have enough streaming and physical media to replace it rather than purchase a second home account.

I'm curious if the 4k subscriber numbers goes down without account sharing and now with this price increase.

That’s total bullshit as long as they don’t even make their annoying interface customizable. But I just heard they’ve had another increase in subscribers- nothing bad that they’ve done has come back to bite them in the ass.

Nor do they properly integrate it with the native UI and search. Really annoying on Apple TV.

I mean content wise they are still king (for most people, I think), and everyone else is raising their prices too, so I can understand it being "worth it" to people even with an increase. You know they aren't feeling the pinch because they STILL give no extra financial incentive to subscribe for longer than a month at a time.

I read with the massive success of Suits, they are looking to license more content again.

They've been licensing and subtitling a bunch of non-English content from Poland, Finland, Iceland, Denmark, and so forth for a while now, presumably because it's cheap. I generally like the crime series they've imported for their gritty, dark vibe.

Netflix is big on SF and Fantasy, much more so than almost any of the other streamers, which is great because they're my favorite genres, but I wish they'd continue original series that they've already sunk money into beyond year 2 instead of licensing from elsewhere. It's really annoying for everything to get prematurely canceled.

Adios Netflix. Will be the first service I only subscribe to occasionally to see event series and then cancel after. There is not a single streaming service out there (that isn't a live TV service) that is worth over $20 a month. Ridiculous.

When I was paying for Netflix out of pocket, I ditched the 4K add-on as IMO it wasn't worth it. $22.99 per month is pretty expensive. Once I switched my T-Mobile plan that included regular HD Netflix, I now don't have to worry about that expense. I just watch whatever I find interesting. And HD is perfectly fine IMO.

Already downgraded my 4K plan to HD. Going to talk to my family about canceling outright. I barely watch anything on there. They watch a few things but this shit ain’t worth it.

Several months ago we canceled Netflix and Disney+ and I don't miss either of them. If there's some exclusive content that I really want to watch in the future, I can always subscribe for a month.

Disney+ will be tough because of the kids (and Bluey) but I looked at my "future" bill and it was like double what I paid for last year, so I'm cancelling and seeing what Black Friday brings.

Netflix is similar but particularly with Korean dramas which my wife loves, so it's still worth it to us, but I've never had the 4k plan and we've never shared our account outside the house. But if push comes to shove, like I said before, they give no incentive to subbing for longer terms so I can just sub when One Piece comes back.

I do think they were probably right in betting on shutting down account sharing. They knew other services would follow (thus diminishing the outrage), and that lots of people probably took a "free" shared sub for granted. Either that or a LOT of people decided they wanted the ad plan out of nowhere.

Price increase is same as my tip for lunch today. NBD.

With all of these price increases, streaming is going to end up costing more than cable/satellite.

The Premium Plan is now $7.50 more than the standard plan. It includes 4K, 2 extra devices to be able to watched at the same time (4 total), and downloads on 4 extra devices (6 total). And I see it allows you to add say your kids who don't live with you.

I mean who really utilizes all those extra features here ? If you have a big family who streams a lot on different devices I suppose. Do you guys really have 4 people watching Netflix at the same time in your house? Probably not. 4K streaming I can definitely survive without it.

If you rarely watch or only watch Netflix occasionally, then it makes no sense to pay that much for features you won't use.

Netflix, even with the $2 increase provides exceptional value. I dig 4K content on there. I did not invest in my Atmos 4K set-up to not take advantage. What's the point then? It's like the Queen song: "I want it all and I want it now." I shall have it even if I have to pay $2 more per month.

It's actually a $3/mo increase. $19.99 to $22.99. Which for us stinks in that we only recently switched to the 4K plan jumping the $4.50/mo increase. $15.49 to $19.99. If it has been $15.49 to $22.99 a $7.50/mo increase, I doubt we'd have made the switch. And now we are enjoying the 4K Dolby Vision and Atmos content. Once the $22.99 kicks in, maybe going back to $15.49 and dropping the cost $7.50/mo will be enough incentive to give that up.

Wait, so they'll allow you to share with people who don't live with you (who you can claim are your kids)? That is probably worth it to some people who were sharing before, unless they require a birth certificate or something.
