The two extra viewers outside of the household cost $7.99 extra per sub account.

Wait, how is that different from the other levels? I thought the add on viewers thing was for regular accounts too?

In any case, because I never shared my account I never needed that many simultaneous screens (let alone 4k screens) so I never upgraded to 4k.

The regular level is allowed +1 sub account at $8, premium/4k is allowed +2 sub accounts at $8 a piece, ad-based and the former bottom tier aren't eligible.

Suck on that, cord-cutters!
Nah, cause cable/satellite is always constantly raising prices also.

Suck on that, cable subscribers!

Spectrum has a deal where I live which I pay for WiFi and get cable TV basically for free(I pay extra for movie channels and extra boxes).

You pay for internet, you mean, which also rises in cost. But what kind of deal is that, is that a new customer only deal?

I think I pay something like 66 dollars a month(included in the rent payment) so that might be a little more than regular internet.

No new customer Only need to be a resident. .The deal is for where I live (mobile home park) and most other parks in the area have the same deal except for one.

Extra for movie channels. And extra for each box. So limited to one TV. So it will still cost way more than streaming.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

I dislike the regional taxes and fees for cable the most. Almost $25-$35 in fees last time I had it (2018).

Though it could be an illusion and maybe the streaming service just buries it in the overall cost instead of itemizing like cable.

I could have gone with the movie channels with DirecTV but prefer a more reliable signal.

I think the deal with Spectrum is two free boxes with the package with cable/WiFi.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

My spectrum tv plan is basically just streaming. No boxes, everything is off the internet through their app (so you need a compatible device like appletv but can otherwise watch channels on anything that has it). Need to be on home internet to watch some of the channels but not all. When the price goes up in a few months because the promo is up, we'll see what it rises to but bundled with internet, which I need, it's fine even if I don't use it much.

Netflix says they have over 15M subscribers worldwide on the ad supported plan. Anyone here actually downgrade to that?

Not a chance. Willing to pay plenty to never see an ad again.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

I recently joined the Netflix preview club a few months ago. I’ve seen two new movies coming in 2024. Both were a “work in progress” from a production standpoint. Afterwards you have to fill out an online survey similar to those theatrical test screenings. And of course you have to sign an NDA. You’re able to view it on your streaming device with the unique PIN code.

They sent me an invitation to join the club. I tried to join, but they wouldn't let me because I work in news and entertainment.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

Yeah I work in live sports and I’m not excluded according to their guidelines. I don’t work for a news station or major TV network and don’t deal with entertainment or entertainment news. And I don’t work for a studio. So I’m good. And really they don’t check. Just don’t be an idiot and brag on social media that you saw xxx movies before everyone.

I didn't feel right about lying. It would be cool to be able to join the club, but I can live without it.
