Netflix - News & Discussion

I don't see that happening. It doesn't make sense. Netflix is basically the antithesis of a Hollywood studio. Sure, Netflix makes TV and movies, but they are all about bypassing theaters for movies. Seems counterintuitive to what a Hollywood studio may want.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
I just received an email from Netflix Surveys asking me to join the Netflix Preview Club. Has anyone heard of this or been a member of it? I googled it and I don't think it's a scam, but you can never be too careful these days.
The email says:
As a member, you'll be invited behind the scenes to:
Share feedback on your viewing experience
Be the first to see and provide feedback on unreleased films and series
Influence how the Netflix experience evolves to meet the future needs and desires of our customers

It's legit. I signed up late last year (only 1 movie so far). Basically Netflix will email you an unique pin code. You can watch it on online or any of the apps. It may not be final product, but you get to watch it early. It will have the usual NDA and you will be offered to do a survey. There is a set expiration date, but you can watch it as many times as you like.

HBO's Insecure has been added to Netflix. Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Six Feet Under and Ballers are up next.

Netflix is only picking up HBO series, as such? The Nevers has seems to have disappeared from Tubi since HBO Max dumped it, and that kind of show should be in Netflix' wheelhouse since they have more sci-fi and fantasy than anybody else.

It seems familiar, now that you point it out.
Didn't Netflix used to offer this type of browsing? It's very annoying that you can't just see a list of these categories, through their interface.

Netflix has so many UI misfeatures it borders on incompetence. Neither My List nor search results appear to have options to order by, for example, forward or reverse alphabetical, year, or exit date (if any). Movies and Series are not separated when displayed.

Yeah, I saw that list of category codes (there were a LOT of them) posted online somewhere a few years ago. I saved a copy of of it, but never ended up using it much.

It's really flaky, for me. Sometimes it works, other times, it just says there are no results.

I remember a few years ago they posted the codes on a Facebook Netflix group. Thought it was interesting but not very useful, at least for me. I usually know what I want to watch. They might be better if you have no idea and want to browse what's available for a specific genre.

No more $10 ad free plan for new subscribers. But if you have it, you can stay grandfathered in.

Yeah, they don't say the details there but I figured it was manually filled out surveys, other than that I don't know how they can detect what you watched just from some device on your internet (that wouldn't scare me away from participating). As such how representative of a sample size can they really have?
It would kill me to have to track everything on Netflix my family watched manually.
