I was double-checking and formatting my "Rank 'Em" list for the year and saw that about half of my first-time viewings for 2010 were things I streamed from Netflix. I won't bother recommending obvious titles like M or The Seventh Seal, instead focusing on more obscure movies. Here are a handful of favorites, though I can't vouch for their current availability:
Blue State
Confessions of a Superhero
Helvetica
The Ramen Girl
Tenure

A ton of new stuff has been added lately, including the Larry Sanders Show (right after I bought it of course), Brothers and Sisters, and Greys Anatomy.

So excited to see Exit Through the Gift Shop since I read Ebert's review. I was spellbound.

Only through season 4 and they have their share of problems. They were put up with episodes all out of order. Season 1 is in production order not airdate order, which plays fine. The other seasons are also out of whack and I can't tell why. Season 3 starts with the Gift (which appears to be slightly sped up) not Montana And it has a few episodes (Headwriter Phil and Larry Loses a Friend) that play as episodes from season 1.

Just finish watching first time Ip Man streaming on my PS3 today. Excellent movie, Donnie Yen kick ass. I'm not happy that Netflix only show just the English dubbed version and no subtitles. During the movie it's show Mandarin text but I couldn't understand what it said cause there were no subtitles. I would have gave this a five-star rating but I'm only giving just 3-stars. Disappointed with Netflix showing only the dubbed version.

Ip Man is an easy recommendation for anyone who enjoys Chinese cinema and kung fu...great stuff.

They have added an incredible number of TV seasons all of a sudden. Every season of Larry Sanders is now up, Roseane, Cosby Show, 3rd Rock, 70's Show, and more. This streaming service just gets better every day.
I wish they would go add every season of Trailer Park Boys, but I'm not holding my breath on that one, lol.

Netflix streaming of Criterion content to cease by end of year...

We love Netflix, and they are still one of Criterion's most important partners, but Hulu demonstrated a real commitment to the Criterion brand that persuaded us they would be the better home base for our streaming efforts. It has never been easy to find Criterion movies on Netflix — "Criterion" is not even a searchable term there. Compare that with Hulu's willingness to develop a whole area of their site around us, brand the films associated with us, and develop the capability to show many of our supplements alongside our films. The energetic, independent, creative team at Hulu was willing to build their business around us in a way that just wasn't in the cards anywhere else.
We chose to make a deal with Hulu because we feel the Criterion brand will in the long run be better represented there. As we put up more films and and our supplements too – which have to be made available with the films – we felt that the treatment of the brand and flexibility within Hulu and Hulu Plus would enable us to provide a better user experience at the end of the day. We will continue to support Netflix on the package goods side and continue to work with them to provide Blu-ray and DVD copies of the films we release, but all of the films that are currently on Netflix streaming will be down by the end of the year. In case you’re curious, we’re as committed as ever to the physical goods side of our releases and will publish more DVDs and BDs this year than ever before.

Bunch of great stuff coming in April:
http://www.deadline.com/2011/02/cbs-...brary-content/
CBS Corp. and Netflix just announced a two-year, non-exclusive licensing agreement that will allow library CBS series to be streamed via Nexflix. Included in the deal are dramas Medium, Flashpoint, the original Hawaii Five-0, the different incarnations of Star Trek as well as Twin Peaks and The Twilight Zone. On the comedy side, included are Frasier, Cheers, Family Ties and The Andy Griffith Show. The shows will be available in April.

I wonder if Star Trek will be the original or the remastered. I own the original version on DVD, but I only saw a handful of the remastered episodes. I'd be interested to stream those.
Also, I wonder if the "different incarnations" is meant to allude to the spin-offs as well. I know they've had the original and the animated series available for streaming free online for some time now, and DS9, Voyager and Enterprise can be bought in digital form from iTunes. To date, The Next Generation hasn't had a digital release. Perhaps this portends one coming?
Oh, and being able to stream Cheers? Coolest thing I've heard all day!

^^^ I read the details of that deal with CBS and it doesn't include current shows like the new Hawaii Five 0, The Good Wife or CSI. It's mostly old back catalogue shows. Medium, which just got cancelled, and Flashpoint are the closest thing to a current shows on it.

The FX show The League Season 1 is now available.
Some bad news for current Showtime series, (Dexter and Weeds, for example) will not be available to watch after the summer.

WSJ is reporting that Netflix struck some five year deal for 700 movies with Miramax. Don't know any specific titles though...
