Which sneakers did you get? I’m a NB fan but I don’t know different models from what I normally get and I’m looking for a change.

I also have to get them in Wide. NB are one of the few brands that offer Wide fits.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

Ugh. I ordered the original animated The Grinch Who Stole Christmas in UHD from Amazon, and it arrived in one of those 'ready to ship' bags with the green stripe. The shrinkwrap looked and felt off to me, and sure enough, when I opened it up, a DVD from who knows how many years ago was inside. They're sending me a replacement that'll be here in plenty of time for Christmas, but I still have to take this one to Kohl's in the next month.

It's not exactly the same situation, but I got Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 as a birthday gift last month, and it arrived with the shrinkwrap removed in one of those 'ready to ship' bags too.

How do you like them? And do they have the typical NB way too long laces?

Wasn't sure what you were talking about, so I looked up Amazon Ready to Ship bags and found this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/amazonprime...nions_of_them/

Every time I get one of these packages it has been a used item that they are selling at full price. From larger cooking bowls in larger clear “ready to ship” bags that, yes, still had food and both animal and human hair in it. To head bands that was missing two bands and had human hair to even body shapers that had makeup all over it. Even electrics that was already register to another person. And many more items. All was bought “new” and I paid full price. Most of which I returned.

And I didn't think I could hate Amazon more than I did...

I will say one category which usually gets packed in a real shipping box at Amazon - toys. Not sure why everything else is packed poorly.

Yeah, items being shipped in their actual packages and causing unintended terribleness has been happening lately...

Yeah I put an order in yesterday and both items were going to ship without Amazon packaging. Now they weren't Christmas presents but I want the extra protection so I clicked that option.

Agreed on that. I am trying to figure out how to wean us off so I can cancel. The problem is, they offer too many services that we use, and it is all for one price. I've long said that I pay for the streaming, and the rest is just bonuses.

I never thought I'd get there, too, but I've been thinking about this lately, as well.

Same here. The shipping benefit is shared with my business account so I save a ton on shipping every year. Not a Bezos fan at all but...

Same here... I mostly use Prime for "free shipping" - and the occasional "Prime Members Only" sales/discounts but I can't say it's actually worth the monthly expense. My membership expires at the end of this month and it would be a good time to experiment... give me a few months without it to see if I really notice much difference in purchasing habits (after all, $25 minimum for free shipping is often quite easy to hit). I rarely stream, never use the music streaming service (it has a stupidly bad interface - and Spotify free is better with more music available), don't store photos, no "Whole Foods" anywhere close, don't use "delivery services," basically - don't use anything but the "free shipping" and don't like that *I* can't select which delivery service to use making getting timely deliveries a crap shoot. They've been using Amazon trucks more this year - maybe they're finally going to cut the USPS loose (and if they did *that* I'd stay with Prime).

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

I also have been thinking of cutting out Prime. We buy a fair amount on Amazon, and probably would ‘over-buy’ a bit to hit $25 each time.

The free kindle book and 10-20 free PC games every month is kinda nice, but I rarely read/game.

We could easily live without the video service too.

But taken all together, I always end up renewing, so far.

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

Also for the majority of items, I get stuff usually next day (outside of times like holidays/prime days). I have one mega warehouse 20 miles away and another 2 hrs away. Some stuff I can even order as late as 7 or 8pm and have it by 4-8am next day.

I don't watch a ton of stuff on Prime and don't pay the $2.99 but luckily the ads have been only at the start and just a few.

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

The "over buy" to get to $25 "free" shipping is what tends to get me sucked back in... It never fails there'll be something "on sale" I want but it's a few $$ under $25... so I add something I might not otherwise purchase *or* would wait for a better price to purchase. It feels like it'd be kind of a wash so I just keep renewing...

I read - but never digitally (can't stand reading on a device - give me paper every time). I do *some* gaming but, to date, have yet to play any of the very many free games I've claimed.

I've never been a Prime subscriber, but I've been considering it for a long time. The free shipping minimum is $35 now, BTW.

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

Whether or not you value Prime enough to join and pay for that service depends upon a few things . If you like the streaming options (Prime, music, audio/e books ) and use it regularly it’s a no brainer.

If you buy a lot of cheaper items on a regular basis then yes, it makes more sense to pay for it instead of having to cobble together orders of $35 each time.

And just convenience, one click and done .

Since this is a physical media site, Amazon rarely has the best price and usually apes off others which is why I rarely buy from them even when they do piggy back on others. And also their fucking search algorithm or methods are awful and a chore to get through, to the point where it’s better off using google instead of the amazon search engine.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

I have a new Amazon complaint . . . I guess they are building a distribution hub near me.

That is all well and good, but where they are building it is problematic. The road it is actually on is a small (two lanes, barely) residential street that goes between a state highway and a major city thoroughfare. The residential street serves a rural trailer park and a number of private driveways. A little over 20 years ago, Walmart opened a store on this side of town, and that small road became a heavily traveled route for people to get to Walmart (and other businesses) without going through a major part of town. The road was already overused at that point, including foot traffic that it was never designed for. The road has an overpass for the highway, with no shoulders on the overpass. Residents of the trailer park routinely walk and bike this already unsafe route to get to Walmart.

Fed Ex and a garbage hauler also operate facilities on this road. Over the last few years, the Fed Ex drivers, including semis pulling double-trailers, decided to quit going the quarter mile to the major thoroughfare, and started cutting back through the residential area to get to the highway quicker. These semis can barely make the turns onto and off of this already narrow road.

The city is going to "improve" the quarter mile stretch to the major thoroughfare, but not the rest of the road. They need to pass an ordinance banning the commercial traffic from the residential stretch, as this will only get worse with Amazon traffic.

Look up "Bissell Road, Springfield, IL" and take a street view run . . .

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

All the Boxing Day deals on Amazon Canada are showing the % discount, but not the actual price. You have to click on each item to see the price. Fucking idiots.

Amazon has been going crazy with targeted coupons lately. So someone will post that they have a 30% off coupon but it's only good for people in the midwest or something. Makes tracking deals a ton harder, which I 'm sure is by design.

I guess they're not targeted enough if you're getting them.

Related: how is South Carolina "mid-Atlantic", which is the only region whose Amazon coupons seem to work for me? I think of that as more of a DC/Delaware-type thing.

I got one of those for the complete Jack Ryan 4K Complete Series. It was $60 but with the coupon and sales tax went down to the $40s.
