So it seems that Amazon places manufacture boxed items in polybags (my last experience) and clothing in boxes :lol:

Polybags - for clothing
Boxes - for other stuff that shouldn't be smashed

Ordered six cheap blu-ray discs and three CD box sets that were just over $100 each two days ago. When I placed the order all of them were supposed to be delivered today, I even chose the option to have them all delivered on the same day. Three of the BDs are out for delivery, the other three BDs and the three CD box sets haven't even shipped yet. I used my parents Prime account since I got rid of that worthless shit last year. I still don't see the point of paying for it if they are not going to honor release dates.

How does Amazon deliver packages? I see those Amazon vans zipping around, but I'm not sure who delivers the packages to my door -- USPS, UPS, FedEx, or Amazon itself.

If they're using their own delivery drivers to deliver everything, they might think that some remote/rural/out-of-the-way locations don't have enough volume to justify the $25 free shipping minimum. So if they're only delivering two or three packages to Turdwater, Kansas every day, they might want that extra $10/delivery to cover the delivery expenses, whereas they might have thirty or forty deliveries a day to Suburbia, Massachusettes, and they $25 minimum doesn't hurt the bottom line that much... and a lot of those folks in Suburbia are probably Prime members to boot.

Almost all of my Amazon packages come by Amazon now. Something weirdly shaped or coming from across the country might come by UPS. There are multiple Amazon delivery vehicles in my village every day.

A package left the Amazon warehouse via an "Amazon partner" (usually means Amazon themselves) but instead of going "across the street" for injection into the USPS system (who'll ultimately deliver the package - and that injection point is the distribution center for my zip code) it got sent in the completely opposite direction to a town *3 times* further away than my location! And it's been sitting there for 4 days... Don't tell *me* "logistics" work - that stuff seems to cause more expense and issues than it removes. And it's not just with Amazon stuff...

Exact same size and brand. Only difference was the color (one black; one khaki).

I live in a town that starts with "S" and the town over also starts with an "S", I guess someone in that town has the same street address as me, guess which address amazon drivers like to send our packages to?

If the Amazon driver is in a hurry they have no qualms about dropping your packages off at another Prime user in your neighborhood.

If you haven't already tried, put a note in the delivery instructions "Make sure you in [correct city]" and put the city in caps.

It looks like Amazon may be phasing out the Q&A section on their product pages. The search box still appears above the product description, and you can still search and get matching Q&A search results, but you can no longer see the list of Q&A's for browsing. The area where they used to appear is blank.

For now, you can still access the Q&A list by clicking on "See more reviews" in the Customer Reviews section, and then in the bottom-right corner, click "See all NN answered questions"

I ordered a hard drive for my NAS. It was supposed to be delivered today, and for some damn reason they gave me a One Time Password that I have to give the driver in order for them to hand over the package.
Of course, it’s been “out for delivery” for almost 12 hours, so someone has had to be at the house all day, yet it’s now after 10pm, but still says it’ll be delivered today with no estimated time. Am I supposed to answer the door at 11:59pm?

Its not like I NEEDED it today, but that’s what they offered on check out, and they’re the ones making these weird rules and giving no reasonable estimate for delivery time.

That's a new one from Amazon. They claim it's due to value of some items.


Secure Delivery with a One-Time Password

Due to the value of some items, a one-time password (OTP) is required on delivery for some orders.

An OTP adds an extra layer of security to your packages.

If an OTP is required, we will send a six-digit, numeric OTP to your registered email address after we ship the item.

You can also find the OTP by selecting Track Package beside the order in Your Orders.

Your OTP is valid until the end of the delivery day.

Read the OTP you’ve received to the driver .


Note:
  • If you're not available to receive the package, you can share the OTP with someone you choose and they can receive the package for you. We don't recommend sharing the OTP with an unknown person. If no one can receive the package, we will re-attempt the delivery on the next working day.
  • If you are not the recipient of this package, please forward the recipient this password.


Then again except for having to have the code ready... this is no different than direct signature required UPS/FedEx/USPS deliveries.

well, after 11pm, the status updated to delivery the following day (today).

This morning, first it said delivery anytime before 10pm again, and now it says out for delivery between 4pm and 8pm, with a new OTP.

I think having the unique code is a bit more secure than requiring just a signature since technically anyone could be standing outside my place waiting to sign for my stuff.

for what it’s worth, this item was over $250, but so was another item that was delivered the day before (which in ended up having to return as it was not what I thought I needed), and that had no OTP.

If they’re going to use this system, that’s fine. But don’t leave me waiting, stuck at home, for two days. There really should be a better system for this.

Agreed... I've met the drivers while I'm outside and just say my name and apt #... they hand the package right over. Thou one time I did have to sign for an Amazon delivered package because it was handed directly to me and there was no picture.

I don’t know if any of you use the Amazon Key service to deliver packages directly into your garage so they don’t get stolen, but they are making major changes to it.

Now, they will only do it once a week for free. If you want deliveries in your garage more often than that, they will charge you $1.99. WTF? Just going to mean more stolen packages, and more of amazon eating the costs to reship.

Or, wait … doesn’t amazon take pictures of your delivered package now? So that means if it gets stolen, they aren’t liable? maybe this change is because they WANT the packages stolen, so you have to buy it again?

I used the last of my amazon credit to preorder Night Of The Comet on 4K UHD. It said it would have release day delivery when I ordered it and up until the day it shipped. Now it says it will be here tomorrow, today is release day. Now that I no longer have any amazon credit left I will go back to shopping elsewhere.

This is a complaint about amazon being TOO fast...

We ordered a couple things and we just opted for the default shipping - we weren't in a hurry for them.
Not only did they arrive the very next day, which was yesterday on Labor Day - we would NOT have opted for that, as we felt bad about someone having to hustle out a delivery on Labor Day.
But also, they delivered it at 9pm, and they rang the doorbell repeatedly, waking up our sleeping baby! Ugh.
I know they did that because it was late and we may not check our porch, but we do get notifications. Still can't believe they rang the doorbell - they never do that, but the one time baby's sleeping, they do!
