Places order. Account locked. Gets account unlocked.
Places same order. Account locked. Gets account unlocked.
Places same order again.
Wonder what is probably going to happen?

And all this for an item that had a clearly posted limit.

No, it's not. Amazon used to be great. Now it's shit. My "Games and software library" is 6 pages (~60 codes), and all but like 4 or 5 were for Xbox, but somehow it's out of the ordinary for me to order slightly more. There's a fucking big sale going on in the Xbox One store! These assholes locked the account TWICE! I had to call 3 fucking times and place the order 3 times before it finally went through. Was the order placed from a different device? NO! Were there any failed password attempts or password resets? NO! Was it an item I bought before? YES. Absolutely no legitimate reason to suspect foul play. No proof of a fucking account breach. Would it kill them to just call and ask? I mean what the fuck.

I'm also getting pissed off the login comes up so much the past few months. What the fuck is the point of a checkbox tom "Keep me signed in" when it fucking doesn't do it anymore? I never had to type my password to view "my orders" while already logged in prior to this year. I'm sorry some people can't keep their phones and shit secure, but this is a private computer that nobody else touches. When I say "keep me logged in," I mean keep me logged the fuck in for good, NOT 20 fucking minutes. I get even more pissed off when meaningless forums that don't even have any of my financial info or anything of any importance do it to me constantly. I've been logged into this forum since I installed my current OS. That's how it fucking should be.

The limit had nothing to do with it! It was a limit of 2 cards of each dollar amount, and again, there was no legitimate reason to do that either. If walked into a store with CASH, tried to buy this $400 worth of gift cards, and they gave me a hard time, they probably would've been calling the fucking cops by the time I was done screaming at them cause I wouldn't walk away. I've never seen a B&M store actually post a limit on gift cards. Oh, that's right. They don't do that stupid shit. I had my mother get me $550 worth of Home Depot cards to order a safe one time. The grocery store here does this points thing for everything you buy, including gift cards, so she gets the points when I give her cash to do that. I was in a hurry to get the Xbox cards.

I ordered TWO $150 Best Buy gift cards at BB when they had that $15 bonus deal in November, and they didn't fuck with me in the least. That was $300. This was only $380, and Amazon failed horribly at dealing with it. IF it was over $500, I might be able to understand some extra checking, but for less than that fuck off. They don't even require a signature when they ship a $500 game console for fuck sake. Hell, I spent $240 on an HDD and USB enclosure (for my Xbox) a few hours before ordering the gift cards (from the same device, browser wasn't even fucking closed), and that shipped fine and on time. Didn't even fuck with it. I still get it Saturday with Prime.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

I've never had an issue with USPS delivering Amazon packages until today.

Back in February, a plow knocked over our mailbox during one of the snowstorms, so we've had our mail held for us, and I typically go pick up once or twice a week, or when I am expecting a package.

I had a package expected today. Thinking I could go to the post office and get it this morning, I thought it was weird when it wasn't with my mail. I made a mental note to e-mail Amazon about it.

I ran a few errands and got an e-mail around noon from Amazon, claiming that USPS attempted to deliver the package and that more information would be on the attempted delivery slip left for me. I checked everywhere and didn't see a notice anywhere.

I contacted Amazon and they told me the package was delayed in transit by the carrier and that it was "incorrectly scanned as delivery attempted". They offered me either a month of Prime OR a $5 account credit, but it's still frustrating. "Incorrectly scanned"? How does that even happen?

On top of that, two of the Prime items I purchased as part of the order are expected Monday and Tuesday, despite the fact that I placed the order on Thursday. I could have ordered them from a different site and have them by now.

Someone who loathes Amazon more than I?

I didn't think it was possible, but Viper187 is the guy. I do feel for him, as Amazon's bullshit meter has gotten way off the charts in recent years.

I certainly agree with the rant that "keep me signed in" should in fact keep a person signed in for at least 48-72 hours, NOT a fucking lousy 20 minutes. Sites are going to forcing you to sign-in multiple times, over and over again, even when you've checked "leave me signed in"

And I *hate*, hate that all sign-ins are now *two* seperate pages. Yahoo, Amazon, Google, they all love to make signing in as hard as possible. What is it so bad to have both login and password on the SAME fucking webpage like it used to be in the "good old days" (a year ago)? Some sites even require you to solve a fucking captcha now, just to sign in to their precious site. Damn.

It's nuts, and getting worse every day due to the lowlife spammers / phishers / scum of society ruining it for all the rest of us!

Amen! Ever since the split sign in page it's way annoying especially when a sign in error shows up and you have to go back and do more clicking. The captcha is another insult when trying to log in with your account.

I was reading that firefox and others are working for ways to do away with inputting your password and should be safer. I just hope whatever this new signing in technology is, that signing in will be less tedious and a much faster process. :)

The real problem is all these paranoid fucking sites that won't even allow you to opt for longer cookies when you're using a private device that nobody else could possibly access. Like my home fucking computer. Seems all they worry about now is phones/tablets, and that's also fucking over people who still use a real PC. I still remember that one Black Friday it was impossible to access the MS store through the regular URL, BUT the fucking mobile site was working fine. Insulting

Just had a weird thing happen with an Amazon order. I order a NEW electronics item, shipped from and sold by Amazon (not a third-party seller) and what I received was a very obvious open-box item. The batteries and cables in the box were loose and unbundled, the tape on the plastic that covers the manual was bunched up and dirty, and the whole thing absolutely wreaked of cigarette smoke. I'm returning it, but this is the first time I've experienced this with an item direct from Amazon. Anyone else had an experience like that?

Not nearly as bad as yours, but a few months ago I ordered a CD brand new, shipped from and sold by Amazon. When it arrived it was clearly re-shrink wrapped (no white security seal on top) but I opened it anyway. Even though the disc was in good shape it was clearly used (you could see faint swirls from it having been resurfaced), and even the booklet had very minor signs of wear. I returned it and they sent me a new one, but that one had the same issue (the artwork on the replacement copy was in pretty rough shape). I e-mailed them and they told me not to return the replacement I got and that they'd refund me and investigate the issue. It was pretty odd.

This happens to me frequently as of the past year. When running late, or bad weather, the postal carriers scan my deliveries as 'attempted delivery made, unable to access property, gated or otherwise'. Very annoying, especially when they don't post this up on the tracking until the last possible second left on the delivery time, not to mention that it looks as if it's your fault if you need to contact Amazon.

It's them being lazy. They have packages left to deliver, but their shift is over and they want to go back to the office.

Sorry that happened to you. But I've never received such an order under those conditions from Amazon. I would be pissed as hell. Good thing though Amazon always makes right on their rare fuck ups.

Yeah, I order tons from Amazon and this is my first experience like this. Thankfully, returns are really easy. I've already been refunded.

I guess the simplest answer is that Amazon's order pickers either mistakenly filed a third party's item with Amazon's or mistakenly pulled the item from a third party bin. But I'll briefly repeat something a friend told me last year. He wanted to buy some high-end headphones and was conflicted because Amazon had the best price but was reluctant to give them the sale. Why? He said that it was common for Amazon sellers to choose to co-mingle their items with those of other sellers (for a lesser processing fee, I guess), but that these headphones were commonly counterfeited and he didn't want to take the chance. Anybody heard of this? Assuming it happens, it still doesn't mean that items get mixed with Amazon's own.

From recent personal experience, I know it isn't always true. I wanted an OOP Hanna Barbera DVD set last year and ordered and returned several sets before getting what I wanted. Merchant A always sold me an original release with a bonus animation cell, but with one bad disk, and Merchant B always sold a later release, but with a slashed bar code.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

Ordered a few items last night. One of which is expected on Thursday. Last time I checked, that's a little more than two days -rolleyes- In fact, I don't think I can remember the last time an order I placed actually took two days.

EDIT: Just wasted 40 minutes in a chat with an Amazon representative. I explained the situation and was told that my item was sent via a "3-day carrier". I explained that I am paying for two-day shipping and asked why it was sent that way. These were the responses this guy gave me:

1. "[I] didn't pay for two-day shipping", to which I explained that I am a paying Prime customer and that includes two-day shipping and because of that I am, in fact, paying for it.

2. He then proceeded to speak with a 'manager', to which he said "sometimes it can be delayed because someone cancelled the order right when the carrier was leaving the facility or some other factor, that could delay the shipping process therefore making it look like if it was actually three days".... WHAT??! I didn't cancel any part of my order, first of all. Secondly, 'making it look like three days'? He literally had just told me it was sent via a 3 day carrier.

I got pissed and kindly expressed the fact that very few items actually take two business days to get to me and that it looks like they didn't have a solution to my problem, for whatever reason. At the end of the chat I got an automated page asking if my problem was solved, to which I clicked no. I sent Amazon an e-mail explaining my situation and I got a response (from the SAME guy who I chatted with!!!!) It was an automated message regarding late packages, saying that if I don't receive the package by Thursday they'd be happy to refund or replace it for me.

I then Tweeted them and was told that "two-day shipping" means two business days once the item ships. The order was placed Sunday and shipped Monday. Two business days from there is Wednesday.

It's not an item I NEED by Wednesday, it's just the principle of the whole thing.
