Borders is affiliated with Amazon but they only carry media items (DVDs, CDs, books, etc.). You have to make your purchase through Border's site, http://www.borders.com , and enter the gift card code in the box for promo/GC codes on either the payment page or the final check-out page. It will look like a regular Amazon check-out but your items will say something like "Amazon.com item sold by Borders".

I know how to make a Borders online purchase. My question is purchasing a Amazon item that Borders does not carry on Borders.com.

I don't think you can. Which item are you looking at? You can only get books/cds/movies on borders/amazon.com.

OK. I was just wondering if you could, since it was mentioned that you could use Borders return gift cards at Amazon.com. I wanted to purchase some electronics products, but see that you can not actually do that.

Actually, you CAN buy electronics items from Amazon.com using a Borders return gift card. I've done it before numerous times.

What you need to do is put at least one item in your cart from Borders.com (a book, CD or DVD). Then click on the link at the top that says "Shop Amazon.com". Then you can put whatever you want from Amazon.com into the same cart and use the Borders return card as payment for the whole order. As long as you buy at least one item from Borders.com it should work.

Also, the items you buy from Amazon.com must be sold directly by Amazon and not by 3rd party sellers (ie. Target, J&R Electronics, etc).

Thanks. I tried this before, but couldn't get it to work. It works now. I think before, I didn't notice if it was a Amazon item or Marketplace item.

Are you certain that it won't just use the Borders credit on the Borders item and charge your credit card on the Amazon item?

Did they actually carry them in stock? Just because Walmart.com sells them, it doesn't mean your local B&M will.

For store credit, I went 4-for-7 at Best Buy (they wouldn't take back BDs for Hart's War or Courage Under Fire, or Super Swing Golf 1 on Wii), but I ended up with over $125 in store credit for 3 BDs and a Cars SD DVD. I doubt I'll be able to get Wal-Mart to take either BD I have left since I didn't see them in their locked case of BDs.

Another easy round of returns to Borders today, but I got dicked at Best Buy. I was only returning 1 item worth $45 and was told that I had to get $45 worth of stuff right on the spot. I bring over the Blu-Ray versions of Live Free or Die Hard, Spider-man 3 and Superbad, which would have been perfect($65 less the $20 Blu-Ray coupon= $45). I fork over my driver's license and was told that I had exceeded my return limit! I only did one receiptless return last January and I was under the impression that you could do three in a year. I'm going to dig out the old return receipt from last January and I'll try again after it's been more than a year since the last return. I would just return this to Borders with the rest, but Borders doesn't carry this particular DVD.

Does B&M Barnes & Noble stores give store credit for DVDs/HDM without receipts? (I don't even know if they stock them, but I know I've ordered DVDs from their online website in the past.

My nearby Borders closed up shop about 18 months ago.

Just remember, you can only use one Border's Return Gift Card per order. You can't stack them like Amazon GC's.

And if you use an Amazon GC on your order along with a Border's Return Card, it will deduct whatever's on your Amazon GC first before charging your Border's Return Card.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a few more things to return to Borders .

Take all of your gift cards to a Borders B&M and ask them to put it all on 1 card. Done and done.

So I have a question about the whole driver's license thing.. I understand it's a way to track your returns. But I happen to have 2 driver's licenses from 2 different states, both current, can I use my other DL if one says that I've exceeded my return limit?

I live in California and they only allow an In-State Driver's License for the no-receipt exchange.
