So how long does everyone think this deal is going to last? BB must be losing $$$ over this promotion big time. I'd say after a year (or less) BB will limit the number of exchanges you can do to the number of on-line rentals that you pay for (i.e. no more than 3 out at a time INCLUDING the dvds you exchange in-store.)

I think that's the most likely outcome.

BTW the one I returned on Sat is still showing up as being "out"...

I agree fully. I give this promotion about 6 months before they implement changes like that.

Signed up on Wednesday afteroon. Received all three of my online rentals Friday. Watched the first disc on Friday and took it back that night. The disc was finally acknowledged this morning and a new disc was shipped out. Took another disc back Sunday morning and another Sunday evening. Both still show as being out, but a fourth disc now shows as being shipped today to me.

Here's a clarification: The DVDs you turn in at the store will show as "out" until they get back to the processing center. The next three discs will ship, though, and count as being turned in when you hand them to the store. Theoretically you can show 6 discs "out" - the ones you turned in at the store and are being mailed back to the processing center and the three new ones on the way to you.

The guy said they ship on Saturdays (and when I pointed that I had been a member for over two years and they don't ship Saturdays), he said they added that with the TotalPass. Until I see otherwise, I will keep assuming shipping occurs M-F.

I have 5 movies in my Out queue now (I'm on the 3-plan). The three I returned Sunday and two that shipped today... one more should ship today or tomorrow.

How many movies do you have in your queue? I have 109. Most of them Available Now. I tend to shuffle so that the Available Nows are towards the top. One thing is that even if a movie shows "Available Now," it might not ship because you might be in CA and the distribution center with that movie might be in FL (for example's sake) and the system waits to see if something closer to home pops up as available.

Looks like everthing thing is working as it is supposed to now. The 2 that I returned in-store yesterday are still awaiting actual receipt by Blockbuster, but now 2 new ones are being shipped out to me. They might have just been working out some bugs the first couple days.

I have 31 in my queue with 13 stated as "Available," 1 as "Short Wait" and 4 as "Long Wait." The rest are listed as "Coming Soon".

The more movies in your queue, the faster movies ship.

Still one down (I've dropped off two at the store so far and have only 4 out) but it slowly looks like it might be working. I suspect there is still going to be a hang up on things over the weekend though.

This is simply untrue. You really think you will get movies shipped faster if you have 100 in your quere, compared to having 50?

If you have 100 movies in your queue, you have better odds of more movies
* being in stock; and
* being in stock at a distro near you.
I don't know if the difference between 50 and 100 movies is very noticeable, but the difference between say 10 and 50 should be.
I noticed that they seem to try to draw from your local distro, so maybe they just go down the queue and find the first movie available in your distro center.

Yes. As DT and I mentioned, if a movie is available but is in a distribution center far from you, BBuster might hold a shipment a day or two to see if another movie that's available (even if it's lower priority) pops up as a closer distribution center to you.

Well they finally shipped ONE dvd today. It had a "short wait" status although I have over 15 "available" titles. If BBO claims to have 35 distribution centers there should be no reason for the delay. Netflix certainly doesn't have this problem. BBO needs to seriously up their inventory if they want to compete in this on-line rental war.

Turned in three titles at the store sunday and three shipped from my queue on monday afternoon. Also got a weekly and monthly coupon to print. No queue reordering problems here. As for throttling, with both Blockbuster and Netflix I notice a slowdown with titles from companies like MPI, Media Blasters, Blue Underground, Image, etc. Major studio stuff, even older films, are usually wham-bam, thank-you-maam. Don't know what factor your location plays in turnaround/shipping. I live in Kansas City.

NO. That has nothing to do with having 100 movies in a queue. Like DT said, there is likely a difference between 10 and 50, but most likely not 50 and 100. So you making a blanket statement that the more you have in a queue, the faster a movie ships is untrue.

Turned in 3 at the store on sunday for 3. Went today and used two coupons and got my next three in the mail. That's 11 movies in one week on the 3 at a time plan. Not bad.

This has been mentioned several times... the out movie won't be shown as checked in until it is received by the distribution center. Turning a movie in at a store will NOT make it disappear from your queue.

It make take 1-3 days for a new movie to ship.

It appears returning on-line dvds in-store is no faster than sending them through the mail as far as having your next available movie sent out. Maybe the trade off is the in-store exchange. Whenever I return BBO dvds through the mail, they are always received the following day. We'll have to see if this is the trend.

I noticed that also... 2-3 days turnaround time. It does double the amount of movies though. Returned Sunday, Monday 2 shipped received yesterday, yesterday one shipped probably will be received in today's mail.
