I look for no coupons in the near future...
I had the 2 at a time plan .. & just changed up 2 the 3 at a time right before they did this.. now I'm swimming in movie's that I don't have enough time to watch..

this is the 1st thing they have done that just might kill Netflix .. if they can get people to try it out..

I always kept BB online live just to check out the SE's of old movies.. cause NF never gets them now my NF is down to 1 at a time just to wait & see what shakes out..

I wonder if this is going to result in stores just stripped of new release DVDs?
***

I think this is more to do with no late fees...now a new release is not due for 9 days...

It's been over 10 years since I quit working at my local BB.. back then if you returned a NR that night by midnight you got a $1 coupon..

I think they need to do this again to get the NR's back faster....like return by noon the next day to get some type of credit...

Personally I think I'm going to go back to just dropping them in the mail, unless there is something really want to get. I dropped a couple off last Friday in the store and nothing shipped, I dropped one in the mail on Sat and that one checked in this morning (hopefully the replacement will be sent today... we'll see). Not to mention the whole point of using the online service is to not have to bother w/ stopping by the physical store and wasting time trying to find something to rent.

It definately seems that the ones I am returning to the store are not being recognized right away (or at least in the early afternoon the next day like they were when it first started). A lot of times I am not getting another one sent to me until it has actually been received by the warehouse. I don't know if my local Blockbuster is somehow slowing the system down. I still like picking up another movie right away (especially for new releases), so I will keep going for at least another month or so.

I returned 3 movies to the local store on Saturday. They haven't cleared my queue as of now so I reported each as returned and asked for the next ones to be sent.

There's hardly anything I'm interested in anymore at my small crappy local store so I probably will only use the store return once a week or so.

The two I dropped off on Friday finally were checked in today (as in taken off my list) so I can only assume somehow they weren't checked in at the store (although I used them to "pay" for a couple of other rentals). As I mentioned I think I'm mostly done w/ the in store check in thing... Hopefully it'll work out better for everyone else.

I'm the same way. If I have any online dvds at the house, I'll return them on my day off. Other than that, I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

Strangely enough, today I got two of the new ones that were marked as shipped after my reports. That implies that they shipped early on Monday, not after I reported the other ones as returned, which I did late yesterday right before posting about it here.

So it seems that they just didn't mark as returned the movies I took to the store but had already sent the next ones in my queue out. If that's so, they gave no indication that the latest ones had been shipped. They were not shown as shipped in my queue and I did not get any emails about their being shipped until after I reported the previous ones as having been returned.

for the last time!!!!
you return a BB online movie to store say {Monday}.. then & there It getts scanned IN!!!!
some time the next {Tuesday} day BB online ship's you're next movie...
the 1 you returned to the store stays in your queue untill distribution getts it from the BB store {say Friday}...
you still get you're movies faster....

come on people this has been said over & over in this post let alone the web site...
If they don't ship your next queued movie the next day report it as returned on the web site .....

For the last time!!! That's not the behavior I've been seeing. The first couple of times it worked like that, the rest of the time it has easily taken them 2 to 3 days before the next item ships, not before it is checked in (removed from the Q) but before the replacement (the one that was supposed to ship the same or next day) is shipped. Overall it's just become more of a hassle than anything else IMHO. The whole point of doing the online rental is so I don't have to stop by the store. Again though, I wish people well w/ it and hope they have better luck than me, but I doubt I'll be using this new feature very often.

I've been on the trial program and I must mention that twice so far the next available title was not shipped until the title was received back at the warehouse.

ok nemein, I guess I mis-read your post..
just an idea for you.. if you don't use the in-store coupons (now the in-store return) you might want to try Netflix...
depending on which 1 has a closer dist. warehouse.. Net might be quicker..
I get Netflix discs the next day .. where BB takes the full 3 days to get to me..

I use Redbox to get my free new releases, the library to get boxsets and older releases, and online to get things not carried or readily available at the store or library and not a new release. I use in-store rentals to get new releases when there's too many or if I don't have Redbox free rental codes that week.

Blockbuster has been taken longer to ship, 2-3 business days after I return them at the store (it was faster when I was sending by mail, most of the time it shipped next business day). I sent an email when a Tuesday return had not generated a new movie by Friday, and they gave me a free rental coupon and shipped a new movie 2 days later. I have gotten TWO wrong movies (one was right sleeve, wrong disc, another one was wrong sleeve/disc) so I had to wait for a reshipment (the replacements were not movies I wanted to see... one was Axl Rose or something to the key of F, some learn how to play guitar DVD).

I think in a few months it'll be smooth sailing. There's always bumps with new changes. On 12/4 it'll be 1 month from my first in-store return, so I'll see how many (correct) movies I got by then, including store rentals.

I still say the problem with BB Online is the lack of inventory. They simply do not carry enough titles to match the demand of their customers. As I have stated before, they may claim over "60,000 titles" but how many of those dvds are actually AVAILABLE. My queue is nothing but a list of "Coming Soon" titles so who knows when they will be available. Netflix is much faster as far as new titles are concerned.

To be fair, available depends on what titles you have in your queue. I have 122 titles in my queue, and 23 are not marked "available." That's 81% availability. And I have criterion and boxsets and new releases, I wouldn't say they are obscure by any means.

Also BB has lots of titles Netflix doesn't. It seems Netflix is getting fewer and fewer of the newer releases from companies like Media Blasters, VCI, MPI, etc. and not getting all the box sets from major studios like they use to.
Some of BB's discs actually come from the shelf of a rental store instead of a warehouse. If some BB store has an OOP hard to get title it will be in their database and get to you eventually if not damaged or stolen.

Actually I'm already doing both I haven't priced it recently but at the time it was about the same price to do 3 out on both as it was 6 out on either or. Each has their advantage (the coupons and better luck w/ new releases at BB, and better selection at Netflix) so so far it's worked out fairly well.

I"ve found BB lacking in harder to find DVDs. I just switched over to them (again), after being iwth netflix for the last year. The deal is too good to pass up, but I"ll see how many times I run into issues finding harder to find indy films, etc.

Blockbuster has seemed rather SLOW lately with the shipping times. In the past two weeks, I have failed to receive TWO movies. I had to report both lost. Now, I'm not sure if it's a USPS thing or blockbuster itself. I've been using the In-Store exchange program, so I'm getting MORE movies, but the shipped ones are coming much slower. Some are still quick, but some are just lost in transit. Also, I have been renting a lot of HD-DVD's lately, not sure if those take longer to ship for some reason....we'll see how it goes this week. I bitched and received two IN-STORE rentals....which are good on games, so I guess that's ok for now.

Looks like the weekly coupons are kaput. I didn't get one at the online site this week. Only option I have is to print the monthly coupon which I already used.

In the last 2 weeks I got 3 wrong DVDs. Emailed them about it, got a free coupon. Hope the wrong DVD shipping stops or at least slows down to 1 every 2-3 months (or at least send me stuff I'd want to watch in the first place). My weekly coupons are gone also.

My weekly coupons are gone too. I think they rewrote their FAQs. Now it says something like, "Now you don't have the hassle of printing out coupons." Gee, thanks Blockbuster.

How can they stop giving weekly coupons if it is in the middle of a paid month? Just because they add a benefit, is it legal to take one away without notice?
