I didn't mean to imply there's no reason to be concerned. I only meant that this problem was not as bad as other situations where full credit card numbers were visible to others.

I just logged in and refreshed multiple times. It seems to be working correctly now.

I'm not going to stop ordering from the website. For me, it's one of the cheapest ways to order my DVD's. The closest store (Best Buy, CC, Target, etc.) is about forty minutes away.

So, instead of battling through traffic, waiting in the store, trying to find the DVD I want, praying they have it in stock, buying it (paying usually a dollar or more than DDD's site, and paying tax on top of that), and then driving back home, I can just order it online and save about 3 to 5 dollars each time.

And as kayak99 mentioned, there are probably glitches and things going wrong like this on most websites. DDD still stands as one of the best sites for me. They've been great to me in the past, and customer service is truly (at least for me), a notch above the rest.

I'm still ordering...

This is really bad news, guys and gals. I saw this thread very early this morning and spoke with DDD as soon as they got in. I was told they were bringing the whole site (including DDCD) down and that it wouldn't be up until the problem is resolved.

I went out, and apparently, the site when down for a while. Well, needless to say, it's now 2:24 PM EST and the site is not only back up, but I'm logged in under someone else's account again.

I just called DDD and told them they need to bring the site down again immediately. Who knows what will happen, but I will be none too pleased if this problem persists. I'm sure you guys are all just as frustrated. Last time I use DDD, that's for sure.

EDIT: Ok, I've now deleted all my cookies, etc, etc and the site SEEMS to be working properly, but who knows what will happen. Needless to say, I took out all pertinent information for now and switched to Bill Me Later. Thanks again everyone for staying on top of this problem and saving us all some major headaches.

I first noticed the problem at about 11PM (eastern time) Friday. Shortly after that I began recieving emails from people who had seen my account info and wanted to warn me. I tried calling CS but of course they were already closed. I emailed them but didn't expect anything before Sat morning.

This morning I logged in (after deleting cookies) and saw someone had zeroed out all my info (Thank you whoever you were!). There were 4 items in the shopping cart which I couldn't delete. My (lengthy) wish list had been replaced by someone else's.

Things SEEM OK now. I was able to log in and log out normally. The shopping cart was empty but the wishlist is still changed. I plan to wait several days before I consider replacing my account information.

Things could have been worse. I wonder if we'll hear anything official from ddd?

Even if you change your personal information like an address. It is still available for viewing when you check your order history. So editing that information doesn't really do anything.

If you don't mind lgelfand, since you are now logging into your account, would you post your initials or something that would identify yourinfo enough that if I see your account pop up on my screen I will know it's yours? Logging in seems to have been the trigger as has been much discussed.

AndyMorrison, one of my points was that MOST sites have glitches of varying types. (note the CIA homepage has been changed by crackers, note Microsoft's software is often hacked) You either give up online completely or bear with it. I feel confident the problems can be resolved and don't think they are as serious as some do.

I am certainly not going radical here and giving up on what I think has been an excellent site to buy DVD's. To be honest I doubt you will either.

I will still order from DDD.

Al Padrino - unless you can change your information for ease of your mind, then do nothing.

Just checked out my account, everything was in order, although I deleted my CC information just to be safe.

LOL!

I was saying that last night. Once my CC info was removed, my only fear left was that people would see what poor taste in movies I had. I have to admit, that when I was first noticing the problem last night and hadn't quite figured out what was going on, I was wondering how so many awful movies ended up in my wishlist and shopping cart. The I noticed it was actually some poor schmoe from Illinois who had the peculiar taste. So I spot checked a few others out of curiosity, and my opinion of DVD collectors in general took a major hit.

I had placed an order yesterday (early morning). Then after reading all this, I checked out the page, and it was down, and now I just checked again, and my order had been cancelled.

My guess is that DDD is cancelling all orders made yesterday as a precautionary measure.

I changed my info to Bill me Later after re-ordering the two titles.

No ill will toward them. These things happen. Protect yourself, and all is good.

As another tip, I also use a check card on all websites with just enough money in the account to clear each purchase one at a time. This particular order is about $20, so I leave exactly $20 in the account for the purchase to clear. This way, even if my card is attempted to be used, it would be declined.

I went back in and put my name back in the billing and shipping areas. The email address is on aol.com although I have a second account using a gmail.com address.

FWIW, I noticed that hitting the LOG OUT button several times changed the account I was looking at. This morning after I checked my account I hit LOG OUT. It didn't log me out and when I checked Account Info I was looking at someone else's account. Deleting the DDD cookies was the only way I was able to log out. Again, things seem better now.

A lot of your personal information will still be available for viewing in your order history. So taking it off will not remove everything.

There's a huge difference between having your site hacked and arbitrarily displaying confidential data to site visitors. If someone had hacked DDD I would be more sympathetic. The fact that this is of DDD's doing and keeps occurring places it in a completely different category. Whether you choose to conduct further business there is your choice. I just don't buy into the argument that its OK for DDD to operate their site in a slipshod manner just because they've got low prices. Are you suggesting that it would be less acceptable if they had high prices and poor customer service?

So is this something to be worried about or not? Most seem to be tossing this aside

When I went to the site, it was someone elses name, so I logged out and went in under mine. I changed all my info except the email (like name, address, CC#) and changed it to Bill Me. However, I CANT log out now. Its kinda weird. And whenever I go back to the site, its still some other persons name, but when I go to my shooping cart and billing info, its the name I made up.

Shouldnt this shit have been fixed already? Whats going on?

Mine's worked fine all week. I actually placed an order for the Eerie Indiana set the other day. Everytime I log in, it's got my correct name and order history. ???

Well, it says "Hello Satan" when I go to the site.

I changed my account info to bill me later and blanked out my credit card info about 7 hours ago when I first saw this.

Yes, you should be concerned. At least your privacy and personal information were at risk. And potentially your credit card may have been exposed to anyone that wanted to use it. They may not have been able to get the numbers but it isn't clear if someone could place an order using the credit card stored in your account. So at least it is a good idea to delete it for the time being.

DDD shouldn't even have the site up if it isn't fixed. I find that being irresponsible.

Definitely not fixed.. I went there and I was Robert. None of their account info was removed. I have a feeling this is not just with Logged in accts. This is real bad.
