I placed an order last night and got the automated email but I haven't got any order confirmation email (with an order number) yet and besides, my latest order does not appear on the order status page. I hope everything is just fine, I sent them 2 emails since I am outside US, I cannot reach them via Phone.

I think they are experiencing some technical problems with their site and I hope everything becomes clearer.

This usually won't happen until the following day, especially if you placed an order during DDD's evening hours. I find that if I place an order for an item in stock, I won't receive official confirmation until the next day, then they'll ship it the day after that.

MODERATOR:

I think the Subject Line should be changed.

It may scare people away from DDD, which is unfair.

While it does ship media mail, they ship stuff earlier than release date, so the wait isnt too long. Free shipping necessitates a bit of a wait.

I think that the thread title, while a bit of an overstatement, simply reflects the topic starter's characterization of his own experience. And it seems to me that people would actually click on and read the thread before they decide to swear off DDD for life.

Just my thoughts.

If anyone has any follow-up thoughts on this, please let me know via e-mail.

Edit: I was convinced by e-mail, and changed the thread title.

An update on my experiences. I just received my order 1 month after I ordered it. I don't know whose fault it is now (the PO or DDD).

DDD is just all right, oh yeah.

I'm still waiting for a DVD that supposedly shippd two and a half weeks ago via media mail, but I plan to call them Friday if it doesn't arrive then, and I am confident they'll make it right. Why? because they've made right a much bigger lost order for me in the past. I use DDD fairly often, and almost never have a problem. Most of the time the wait is only a few days, even if it was media mail. Two lost orders out of a bunch of successful ones is the same track record I had with reel.com, my former favorite DVD online shop. I plan to continue using DDD for a long time to come.

I’ve had exceptional service from the folks at DDD and I’m outside the USA so am used to getting stuff later than most of you folks but most of my orders arrive in two to three weeks. I’ve had a couple of problems along the way, nothing serious, and these were dealt with extremely promptly and efficiently by their CS dept.

Great prices, great CS - I can’t rate them highly enough. Reel who?

Finally got my Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back DVD from DDD today. Ordered on 2/28, didn't ship until 3/7, arrived on 3/18. Needless to say I'll wait for the DVD to come back in stock at local B&M's or order from a more dependable online store next time. 7 days to ship (for a product that was not listed as out of stock or backordered) and 11 days to arrive is unacceptable, regardless if the shipping was free. Making matters worse, even with the free shipping, it was a little more expensive than at the local FYE including tax!

Thumbs up for DDD

I have been using DDD for the last month. I've placed about 3 orders with them, and no problems. Their price are the best around, and free shipping. For the people that are complaining about the slow shipping time, you can always elect the higher price express services, and get you shipment a lot quicker.

I have probably ordered 250 DVDs from DDD over the past year (or longer now?). I have overall been VERY pleased with their service. Screw-ups only occurred a couple of times, and they were very very quick to fix the problem. The customer service reps on the phone are always polite and very helpful. I have never had difficulty cancelling an order if I needed to or getting something replaced if I needed to.

I would love it if they had better order management (like Amazon, DVDEmpire, etc.), but I won't complain. Their service is great, and they will resolve your problem if you get in touch with them.

I will continue to purchase from them.

I received a copy of "Lessons of Darkness" from ddd missing 1 of the 2 discs. Called for a replacement and received it within a week. Excellent customer service and usually the best online price. A few problems are to be expected, but I see no pattern of the "not our problem" syndrome common to online retailers.

But then it raises the price to more than what it costs to buy the DVD at a B&M or a larger, more reliable online retailer. Like I said I ended up paying more for the DVD I ordered with the free shipping that I could have got it locally after tax. I simply thought I'd get it quicker from DDD as it was sold out at the local store. However the store had them back in stock within a week for $19.99 ($21.19 w/tax) and it took 18 days to get it from DDD for $21.59.

For those that don't mind waiting, and have had no problems with DDD, that's great. However, one bad experience, particularly when it's my first order, will keep me from shopping at that store again. I prefer to by DVD's at B&M's anyway. No wait, no worrying about shipping, and nowadays it's usually cheaper too. The days of the DVD's under $10 online with coupons and what not are long gone, so I don't waste my time shopping online very often anymore. Usually only for stuff I can't find locally.

I think the question is why does he work for one company while he appears to be affiliated with another. Who exactly owns who? If he works for both companies, and possibly others, why would they hire out the work that they are expected to do?
As an online customer, the question is raised about one company owning a number of seperate sites. If these companies agree to not share your information unless you agree, they can certainly share it amongst themselves - offered as a single example of the utter weirdness of his Email address and the questions it can bring.

In answer to who owns who, a quick check of the "about this site" or "about this company" links on both ccvideo.com and DDD clearly state that both companies are divisions of a company called Infinity Resources, Inc. So this gentleman works for Infinity, and in turn works on both websites, which really aren't individual companies in competition with each other but complimentary sites owned by one company.

Thanks for the information. Not something most people advertise, is it?

Just got charged for an order I placed on 3/16.
The order still says "Open" on the website, and the disc release date is 4/2.
I'm taking the "Call customer service" route.
They open in about ten minutes, so I'll call and see what's going on.

Who knows?
Maybe they already shipped my order, and I'll receive it early!

Just got off the phone with CS. He claims my order shipped out yesterday.
I might get my Dr. Who DVDs by this weekend, and they don't even come out until April 2nd!

Well I ordered 6 DVDs from them. 5 were shipped at the same time, and I received a box on Thursday after three weeks. (I'm overseas.) I opened it up to find... only one DVD. The invoice inside the box stated that 5 had been shipped.

I emailed them and they said they'll ship the rest of the order. I'm quite pissed but at least they didn't dispute the claim that they only shipped out one DVD. Someone at their packaging dept really needs to get their act together.

Love 'em, hate 'em

I have ordered twice from DDD thus far; since I live literally half-way around the globe (Singapore), delays are expected (as long as 4-6 weeks by USPS for DDD).

My first order came in several packages, but was all there. My second order missed out two shipments (3 DVDs in total - but was charged), but to do DDD credit, they replied to my e-mail within a day saying that they are reshipping....I will wait a few more weeks to see if they arrive.

In the meantime, must say that I love their proactive customer service (just as I detest B&N's CS - another story altogether!). Just wish shipping were faster, more reliable, and preferably coming all together....something to work on in this new year?

Have tried Amazon, Tower Records (not much comment to make), B&N and DDD from US to date and EzyDVD from Aus.

Shipping-wise, Amazon and EzyDVD come out tops (speed and reliability).

Price-wise, DDD all the way!

Needless to say, I will continue shopping with these three e-tailers.

Got my DVDs Saturday, three days before the release date.

I love DDD!
