Can the movie on a professional Blu-ray disc that you buy, be in either 1080p, 1080i, or 720p resolution? Or are the discs always 1080p?

I have never seen information about this in reviews or...

Can a DVD-R disc that has burned high resolution (1920x1080) material be played on a BluRay-player and be presented onto a LCD HDTV?

Thank you. That stopped my worries about a 4:3 picture being shrinked even smaller on a 17" laptop screen.

Saving space burning down DVD-material on BluRay disc would be nice , if it works to play...
