Burned DVD-R from PC to BluRay-player?

Can a DVD-R disc that has burned high resolution (1920x1080) material be played on a BluRay-player and be presented onto a LCD HDTV?

Thanks!

I've never tried this myself, but look at this post on the AVS Forum:

I've been trying out a similar trick for my HD DVD player but haven't had much luck, personally.

In other words, it is not easy! I'll have to hire a computor wiz.

Well, I didn't read the whole AVS post, but there are other software out there to author Blu-ray content, and I'm sure several of them can output to DVD media.

Putting Blu-ray content on DVD media is actually part of the Blu-ray spec. It's called BD9.

sure, why not... the Sony BD players can play AVCHD dvds (HD contents burned on dvds). All you need is AVCHD files and the program makes the AVCHD discs (all free with HD camcorders, at least in the Sony or Canon ones). And you don't have to be a computer whiz to do it...
