Re: Redbox: Deathwatch

Saw a picture on Reddit of a Redbox machine on its side by the store trash, waiting to be hauled off. Lots of posts from people wondering how it could be used at home.

Video rental stores were...

Appearance has been changed but functionality is still shit.

Re: The Roku Thread

File a class action lawsuit for that!

It’s been probably a year since I last used my Roku. Only things it’s best at now are Vudu and Movies Anywhere.

Re: Redbox: Deathwatch

If they’re that complicated, it’s surprising they got so many installed back when they started. At $1 per rental with so many freebies they might not have taken in a lot of money either, though I...

Re: Redbox: Deathwatch

So funny how fast they’ve fallen. The studios cut them off a few years ago but they just had their people go into Walmart and buy discs there for the machines. Ones installed outside had people tying...

Re: Redbox: Deathwatch

Wonder if I could set it up in the laundry room here then? Nobody around here has started a “Free Blockbuster” box so we could use it for that, making it a bit more fun.

Re: Movie Theaters

THIS is just a “bump,” but I wouldn’t even want to see this every single time I went to a movie, it would have to be changed frequently:

Re: Movie Theaters

Showing the same trailer for months on end is torture and a great way to get people to hate your theater or stay away from it altogether. When I worked at Regal we ran this for a long time right...

Yeah, a mini-fridge would suffice for my needs.

Re: Disney Movie Insiders (RIP DMR)

I was saving my points for the studio tour but that's gone now, I still would have to set aside some time to go down if I did that. Ordered a few Blu-Rays that I don't have yet, hoping some other...

Re: Mean Girls (2024) -- musical adaptation

This may only matter to me, but there's a brief line spoken by one of the people speaking into their cell phone cameras that is in the process of being removed from the digital versions out now and...

Re: Redbox: Deathwatch

The weird thing about the Redbox free channels and several other ones is during a commercial break they will sometimes just show a screen with a countdown for a few minutes saying “We’ll be right...

Re: Redbox: Deathwatch

Didn’t know that, been meaning to watch that but probably not buy it- just about all titles I do have from that company were bought at dollar stores though. I thought “Chicken Soup for the Soul” only...

re: The Fandango at Home (Vudu) Thread - News, Bargains & Codes

Vudu was more of a high end thing before Walmart bought it. You used to need a dedicated box to use it, and they catered to people who cared about quality. The After Dark section had real porn, and...

Re: Redbox: Deathwatch

Checked out their digital rental thing a few days ago, so pathetic I may need to make a YouTube video about it if nobody else has already. Nothing at all from the past few weeks, and the noteworthy...

Re: Redbox: Deathwatch

I tried their online service once when I had a coupon, didn’t see any advantage to using it over Vudu or Apple (prices weren’t even better, and it started when their disc rentals were still about $1)...

Re: Redbox: Deathwatch

That’ll basically mean the end of rentals then. With purchase prices being so low I rarely found rentals worth the trouble of picking up then having to return them. For stuff I just wanted to see...

Re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - We're number 2, but we try harder

Just glad the threat to price DVDs for rental never happened- new release VHS tapes were priced at $100 to gouge the rental stores, and Fox had threatened to do the same with DVD. It was said that...

Re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - We're number 2, but we try harder

Was wondering if anyone was using Redbox lately. I took advantage of when they had codes for free rentals every week, but that ended years ago. Never seen anyone using a machine recently, before...

Re: Coyote vs Acme (2024)

I never thought Barbie would be hugely successful, still don’t think it’s that great.

“Scooby-Doo and Krypto Too” was completed and decided to be shelved like this, but a complete standard-def...

Re: A LOT of my HD-DVDs are defective!

Right, I’ve tossed bad discs if I find a playable replacement, but I gave up actively looking when several replacements also went bad.
