"This Big Hush" by Shriekback. Song used for key sequence in Manhunter film; great accompanying video (sci-fi paintings, not film clip).
*******************************************
"Suburban Wars" by Arcade Fire. So many great songs from "The Suburbs"...and hard to separate any from this seamless album.
********************************************
"Run of the Mill" George Harrison. Again, hard to choose from so many amazing songs from "All Things Must Pass" (title cut, What Is Life, From Behind That Locked Door, etc.). And the sparse demos are also amazing to listen to; just Harrison, his guitar, and the occasional instrumental overdub.

"8 Dogs 8 Banjos" Old Crow Medicine Show. Be sure to watch the entire video for the whole performance. If either the song or the live performance...or both...don't put a smile on your face, you might as well crawl into your grave right now & start pulling dirt over you.

The chugging barnburner "World of Indifference", my favourite song of Richard X. Heyman's. Insanely, it was an outtake of his excellent 1998 album Cornerstone.

The Heyman track reminds me of Hoodoo Gurus.
Speaking of Long Ryders & cowpunk/alt-country, here are two good ones:
The Other Shoe Old 97's. This one has Waylon Jennings guesting on lead vocals backed by the 97's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unAj_9wnjrs
*********************************************
White Lies Jason & Scorchers. One of most insane live performances ever on network tv:
*********************************************
Bonus: Golden Ball & Chain by Jason/Scorchers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyoU1_weJBE Love this tune!
Whatever guitarist Warner Hodges was on at the time, it must have been the premo stuff. And love the drummer sitting in what appears to be an office chair.

Thanks for the tip on Hoodoo Gurus, creekdipper. Never heard of them, but I'll give them a listen. Unfortunately not on Spotify.

My favorite from Hoodoo Gurus--I think this was their big hit.

This is the Hoodoo Gurus song that was the most popular in my part of the country:

Well, here's one from the great Christy Moore (accompanied by Declan Sinnott). If you don't like it, there's no hope for ya!

Always think of Rolie from his Santana days ever since getting the original LP's as they came out (and sneaking in to see Woodstock movie in theater).

Probably one of my favorite Pat Travers tune. Playing the drum was Iron Maiden Nico McBrian.

I'm sure many regard his music as treacly pap, but I like Chris de Burgh's sonorous ballads. "Where Peaceful Waters Flow" is one of my favs of his.

Re: Post a song you like or love.
These guys are buddies of mine. They just put out this one album, all self-produced (home-recorded, I think) in 2008. If their timing were different or if there was any justice in the world, these guys could have been developed into a hugely successful band, IMO.
They're kind of sort of a dark Southern gothic mix of Americana/Byrds-type stuff, with maybe a bit of punk thrown in (the guitar player played in a Sex Pistols tribute band)--lots of Civil War themes. I don't know what happened to the singer, but I'm still friends with the guitar player on FB.
(creekdipper, I'm thinking this might be up your alley)

Re: Post a song you like or love.
Great Harrison tunes posted above, but one of my favorites from "All Things Must Pass" is "Let it Down", classic Spector wall of sound bombastic combined with quieter parts.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1XTYXEpeEYA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
And someone posted Nick Cave, so I'm going to add the duet he did with P.J. Harvey from "Murder Ballads". Great song and video:

Boom, Boom, Boom, Let's Go Back to My Room, a rather obscure 80s song, gets reworked by its original artist. I like it better than the original version.
