Another refreshing blast from the '80s, Eddie Schwartz's lush, synth-heavy ballad "Special Girl" is one of my favourite songs.

That's a great song! I can't think of another song that sounds like that one, pretty unique IMO.

America and Meat Loaf both covered the song well in the mid-'80s, but I prefer the purity of Schwartz's original.
I like your tune as well. It has that '80s sound, despite being current.

The Searchers are great. They recorded two simply classic albums of power-pop covers, 1979's eponymous platter, and 1981's Love's Melodies. Superb musicianship and top-drawer production shine on both.
