Re: The VINYL Thread!

Was up in Boise and ended up going to The Record Exchange and I scooped up the Gone Girl score on vinyl and my GF ended up getting me the Incubus S.C.I.E.N.C.E. LP for my BD. Ironic that I was talking crap about them in another thread. SCIENCE is their best album, though. I stopped caring after that one.

Been getting into more horror soundtracks. Any recommendations that can be had for a decent amount?

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I've been on a Kinks binge as of late and recently picked up clean copies of a few early albums.

Face to Face - EU RSD release w/stereo + mono cuts of the album
Arthur - EU RSD release w/stereo + mono cuts of the album
Everybody's in Showbiz
Soap Opera - probably my favorite concept album of theirs

Been trying to track down a clean first pressing of Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround so if anyone comes across one at a decent price, let me know.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I just got a beautiful copy of Something Else By The Kinks. US tricolor Reprise. I now have nice originals of the Kinks albums from Something Else through Lola. Face to Face still eludes me and I'm not a huge fan of Muswell. I also got a German mono copy of Village Green. I don't see any of these titles very often.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

^ Nice. Those tricolor Reprise pressings are tough to find. I've come across a few original UK Pye releases of their early albums, but nothing in decent condition. Those aren't cheap either.

I have last years' RSD release of Muswell. It includes some extra material not on the original release though I'd still like to have one of the early RCA pressings. Some consider it the Kinks last great album. Personally I'm quite fond of it - start seeing some of Ray's circus performer/vaudevillian act coming through (which would continue over the next several albums).

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Probably why I'm not a fan. I'll give it another go.

The RSD version was $40. I didn't buy it on principle.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I got my wife the new Sleater-Kinney - No Cities to Love as a sort of Easter gift last week. She got me a vinyl of John Carpenter's Lost Themes.

I just ordered and am waiting on an order from Ghost Box Records of

Advisory Circle - From Out Here
Belbury Poly - Farmer's Angle

I just ordered the vinyl re-release of Broadcast and the Focus Group - Investigate Witch Trials of the Radio Age.

What is this? Will it be available everywhere on RSD? I can't for the life of me find a clean copy of this record.

Meanwhile, I tried to curtail my spending, but the other night at the record store I got:
Green Day - American Idiot
Blodwyn Pig - Ahead Rides Out

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I decided to go and visit Fu Manchu's website and they have quite a few vinyls priced to sale. They've reissued Daredevil in a limited edition color vinyl.

I also scooped up:

Re: The VINYL Thread!

So I just won my local record stores "First in Line" contest. I get 5 minutes in the store before anyone else, and can buy whatever I want. What else should I get besides U2 SOI and Foo's 10"?

I don't want to buy anything that I really don't want, but...

Johnny Cash - Koncert v Praze - 12" Colored Vinyl
Foo Fighters - Songs From The Laundry Room - 10" Vinyl
Garbage - The Chemicals - 10" Colored Vinyl
Bernard Herrmann - Psycho - 7" Colored Vinyl
Metallica - No Life Til Leather - Cassette
U2 - Songs of Innocence - 2 x 12" Vinyl
The White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan - 2 x 12" Colored Vinyl
Elvis Presley - "My Happiness" and "That's When Your Heartache Begins" 10" 78rpm(oops, I guess this is ONLY for sale at TMR)

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I just got this as an early birthday present from my girlfriend. I've been wanting this album for a while, but when I found out about this 40th anniversary version, I wanted it even more. She paid a whole lot of nickels for it, but it is WELL worth it!

Just pre-ordered the Mad Max: Fury Road score from Mondo. The silver/white variant, too.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I also just ordered the Fury Road soundtrack.

In addition, I ordered the "Silver Scream" Metalic silver and red splatter version of the Starry Eyes soundtrack from Waxwork.

http://waxworkrecords.com/products/starry-eyes

It comes with a digital download code for the soundtrack too. I wish that happened more often with these soundtracks.
