I was going to get it but I think I'll grab the CDs instead - half the price for more content.

Still more than double the price. I have their albums on vinyl but not sure I need a rarities collection in that format.

They are pretty much my favorite band so I'll probably get both. Vinyl box comes with a t-shirt too.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Foo Fighters album came in the mail today ... I ordered from Amazon and ended up getting the "forever" cover.

Most importantly, it sounds great.

I'm not for certain but isn't the "Forever" cover just the regular retail version? I think the city covers are available from the Foo Fighters web site or maybe its just that you can only choose the cover you want by getting it from their site. Guess I'll find out later today when I get home because mine should arrive today too.

Mine just arrived. Won't have time to listen until tonight, but did open it to see that I got New York. Looks good to me.

Their site was* the only way to pick which cover you get. Otherwise you get a randomly selected city over or the cover that has the complete picture.

I ended up ordering mine through their site...I really wanted the Seattle cover.
It gets here Friday.

*I happened to check the site a week ago and they no longer had the option to pick, so it must've been a limited time thing.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Given a choice, I would have picked the Chicago cover. But, it was not worth what the Foos were charging for shipping versus free Amazon Prime shipping.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I got the Forever cover of Sonic Highways which is fine with me. Amazon really packs up their vinyl albums well. A record sized box inside of a larger box. Kind of excessive but at least its protected.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

These guys offer color variants of the John Carpenter Lost Themes LP - Two of them from what I can tell.

http://www.sacredbonesrecords.com/pr...er-lost-themes

I'd order one but don't know if they charge now or upon shipping.

I'll stick with my Amazon pre-order. Not particularily interested in $4 or $12 incremental cost for a colored variant, plus likely shipping.

Sure am loving this sample track though:

Re: The VINYL Thread!

My Foo Fighters LP arrived this afternoon. My variant cover is that of the building that looks like an infinity symbol.

EDIT - Forever

Got an email from Death Waltz and they're going to be selling a limited John Carpenter Lost Themes variant, too. It's a black and white edition. 15 GDP.

I'm pretty excited about that 'Lost Themes' album. Carpenter is one of my favorites; I've got a pretty decent selection of his soundtracks on vinyl.

I finally opened my Shaun of the Dead soundtrack today, and not only did I get the Ale-colored vinyl, but also got one of the 500 Zombie Extermination Discs.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Quick update on my In Keeping Secrets record...It looked worse than it was.
I cleaned it to the best of my ability, and it played fine. Side D, which was the worst, still had a lot of popping and hissing. I'll give it another clean later.

Anyway, my Sonic Highways got here today. I'm pretty happy I sprang for he Seattle cover.
Spoiler:

Also, there was a little surprise in the box that that helped soften the blow of the extra money I spent.

This is fucking cool. A 12" single shaped like a Bat Symbol featuring the opening and closing themes from Batman: The Animated Series.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I was able to resist buying another Batman!

Mondo even sent me all my gift cards consolidated for their new site. I have a whole $42 in credit and resisted ordering!

Now I wish I had the $42 in my pocket to go buy Once Upon A Time In The West.

It looks cool, but I've got the others. And I played Mr Freeze once.

I wish they'd bring on Aliens already.

OMG, must have! Does that really play or is it just a goof?
