Re: The VINYL Thread!

The Mondo Jurassic Park soundtrack is up for sale.

I just happened to be on twitter the exact moment they started selling them, so I managed to snag one of the "Translucent Amber" variants. It looks like it sold out in about 2 minutes. I'm excited because I'm usually late to the party on these types of things and always miss the limited items.

I managed to snag one of each (one of them is still available, it seems). I'll probably give one to a friend when I decide which one to keep. :)

Missed out on Amber Jurassic Park due to a meeting at work - so bummed - ordered the other version, even though I hate the cover and really wanted the other variant.... oh well.

I too had to revisit the jack White Lazaretto instructional video to figure out how to listen to the damn thing, but I am enjoying it quite a bit.

That's very cool- but I also am not a fan of the cover. I've never heard of this site before..!

You guys are crazy. That cover is fantastic. I have the 24"x36" poster, and it's absolutely beautiful in person. :D

Honestly Mondo is a fucking joke if you ask me. We have stuff that people want but we won't tell you what time it's going on sale only that it will be this day and it's limited to this much. So if you happen to have nothing better to do with your time but watch Twitter or our site good luck otherwise too bad.

Anyways I'll probably get the regular version of the soundtrack just because it's one of my favorite Williams' scores.

I was just about to ask if people actually listened to those soundtracks. Apparently, at least some do. :)

Although I've been mostly sticking with older vinyl, I picked up Beck's Morning Phase. Great sounding record.

Just wondering what your guys thoughts are on warp? I picked up Pink Floyd's Meddle and its got some of that. Cover is nice, record is clean and plays very nice but the needle is doing a bit of a roller coaster ride. Nothing severe that is causing it to jump though. I'm fairly fussy and since I paid more for this one($24) than I have for any others I am a bit bothered by it.

Looks like Jack's new record hit #1 on Billboard with 140k sold. The interesting part is that it sold 40k vinyl and 41k on CD. Crazy! That's a new vinyl record.

While I am bothered by warps (I'm pretty OCD about my records), if it tracks fine on your turntable you really don't have anything to worry about other than looking a little wobbly as it spins.

Looking at the inventory at the store I'm currently working at, we have sold 32 copies on vinyl and 4 on CD.

I am a bit OCD too. Okay, there's no such thing as a "bit" OCD

After a couple listens, I am happy with it and it's the only copy I've come across.

I grabbed Roxy Music's Avalon that is even worse warp wise and will be traded back in.

Also picked up(and keeping ;) ) :

Selling England by the Pound - Genesis ($8)

This Year's Model - Elvis Costello ($12)

Ocean Rain - Echo & the Bunnymen ($10)

Blow by Blow - Jeff Beck ($9)

High N Dry - Def Leppard ($6)

Beauty and the Beat - The Go-Go's ($5)

Ordered.

I thought the movie itself was pretty good, but the score was incredible.

Did they charge you for the pre-order or will they actually charge you when the LP ships?

I think they charge when the order is placed.

I saw the charge pop up on my card, but I forgot to see if it was the actual charge or a temp that dropped off.

Nice list. I've bought a few. Depeche mode live in Austin bootleg. Not terrible sounding but maybe only interesting to fans that live in Austin. Also got the Revolting Cocks Beers Steers And Queers reissue on clear vinyl. And all the Led Zep reissues. First Led Zep I've ever bought in my life. Enjoying the hell. out of them.

My big projects have been upgrading (paying a skilled friend) my two Hafler amps from kits created by an original Hafler engineer. Listening to the first one now and it's a huge upgrade.

I was thinking about getting those, or at least Zep 1, since I don't have that in any form for some strange reason.

Only ones I have grabbed recently:

Radio-Activity - Kraftwerk

Frozen Alive! - Albert Collins
