Good job!
Walking through Waterloo Records here I see so much vinyl being sold to young college aged girls from UT I guess. I always wonder what they are listening to it on. Some of them are buying 3-4 $25 records at a time! And I complained about the occasional $15 CD when I was in college. :) Of course what was I listening on? A Wal Mart bought boom box. Probably not much different, except it didn't ruin CDs. So my project is finally done for a while. Traded in my Luxman pre and got this nifty tube pre. And those are the rejiggered Hafler amps. They aint pretty on the outside! And yes that's a Jurassic Park on the TT with the new Ortofon Bronze still breaking in https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...eccc8e57024ef5 I'm fapping it. :hump: |

That's a nice birthday present and a huge upgrade. Those all in one things sound horrible.
So now I'm speaker shopping.

My Gravity score LP from Mondo showed up today. I really like the artwork. I will crack it open and spin tonight or tomorrow.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I finally got my first 1st pressing Blue Note. Near mint. 1956.
http://gokudo.co.jp/Record/BlueNote2...1500%20003.jpg I've been concentrating on vintage jazz as of late. I got a bunch of 6-eye Columbia Miles albums too. |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
^ Blue Note! Yummy!
I've been buying a few of the $20 digitally sourced reissues. They aren't bad. |

Does anyone have the Mo-Fi pressing of Bob Dylan's Desire? I'm just curious as I have listened to this album endlessly for weeks now and would really like to pick this up in the near-future.

You know what I didn't get a chance to open it. Most likely on Thursday or Friday. WHat'd you get?

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Ah hell, why not. $20? It's not like I could spend that on Mondo Batman releases this week. Harley and Joker are sold out apparently.
|
Re: The VINYL Thread!
All of the Batman releases are sold out (a few Mr. Freeze remain, but should be gone today), except Man-Bat, which has been held up in customs... will probably be offered on the web site.

They played some songs off it though. I think you'll enjoy the new record when you get it. |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
You know you're a vinyl addict when you go to Comic-Con, and still somehow end up buying records. In my case, I got this:
http://horrornovelreviews.files.word...productslp.png It's a rock opera based on H.P. Lovecraft's The Dreams in the Witch House. It's on purple tinted translucent 180g vinyl. Can't wait to give it a spin |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
Decided to pick up the MoFi Bitches Brew. Good call.

I have the MoFi In A Silent Way. Sounds amazing.

They pimped the hell out of it at the Lovecraft panel. If it sucks like you say it does, I'll know who's opinions NOT to trust next time |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
I mean, I was excited for it as well, because I'm a huge Lovecraft fan and a rock opera based on one of his best stories sounded awesome. But the music does not match the ambition.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Cake is rereleasing the RSD boxset. It's up for preorder here. I read somewhere that they were unhappy about how RSD went down, with the sets ending up on ebay for ridiculous prices.
I know I've mentioned Self here before when their first album got a rerelease on Fat Possum. They've got a new EP out. It's availabe on 10 inch clear vinyl. Limited pressing of 1000 albums. They've been getting a bit of much deserved attention this week. Their song Runaway is the itunes single of the week. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/IwAIwRrs6xs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Re: The VINYL Thread!
A friend of mine sent me the Mondo Mr Freeze variant. Worst sounding Mondo record I've heard. Thought it sounded like someone held a mic up to a TV speaker!
