The VINYL Thread!

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I would say 75% of my record collection is stuff I purchased between 1972-1990. At least 75%, but there's no way I'm going to count it all up.
I never stopped buying vinyl, but there was a long period when buying new vinyl was very difficult.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I was too young to be into vinyl when it was first prominent. I then held off for a while when it became popular again because I assumed I would spend way too much money on it if I get into collecting it.
I was right.

I spoke with Mo and Justin at Mondo at the show this weekend (as well as nabbing a couple Halloween records and that print Jock did), and they told me the reason the Halloween records were taking a little longer to ship is because they recently moved into a new facility.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I started buying vinyl in high school -- this would have been the mid-90s. I started frequenting garage sales and soon realized many had records for sale. I figured it was a great way to build a music library on the cheap. I've kept many of the ones I bought and have been periodically picking up new/used records over the years since then when I feel like it.
There are 3 used record shops within biking distance of my house, so that helps. Picked up a couple Phil Collins albums and the soundtrack to First Blood over the weekend. All in fine condition and for < $12 all in.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Over the past week, I got:
Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited (1965 second release) - One of the greatest albums of all time
The Velvet Underground (3rd) - UK 1971 release - spotless
The Velvet Underground - Live at Max's Kansas City (original Cotillion release - spotless)
I remember seeing this in the bargain bin over and over and never buying it because of the sound quality. Finally got it.
Lou Reed - Berlin (I actually think I have this already. I have to check the archives)
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde (1966) Stereo Claudia Cardinale cover
The Grateful Dead - Aoxomoxoa - original green WB label
Tidbit: Did you know the GD logo can also be read "We Ate the Acid" ??
Bob Dylan - Another Side of... (1964 release)
------
By the way, those old thick 60's releases sound so good. They are impervious to scratches.

I ordered a pack of outer vinyl sleeves Saturday afternoon and they were delivered yesterday (Sunday) at 5pm via UPS. First time I've ever had Sunday delivery from Amazon. I reckon they've started that part of the service for PRIME members on selected items.

Did anyone else get the Evil Dead remake soundtrack from Unseen Forces? Meant to post about it a few weeks ago. They did quite a nice job on the packaging.

Yep, I got Lego Marvel last Sunday. Didn't even know it had arrived until I checked the order page.

It's USPS, actually.
And I don't mind the different labels for the Halloween movies. They're both boutique labels, and both specialize in semi-obscure genre stuff.

I received my Halloween vinyl from Mondo on Saturday - lucked out and got the orange variants.

I thought about it, but passed. I heard the packaging was stellar on this, but it's just not a record I'd give a spin more than once.

I checked my Llewen Davis order from Bullmoose and discovered it canceled. Didn't even send me a notice. That was my first order and it doesnt make me want to order from them again.
