Not really. I thought it’d be one variant at a time, but there’s two there. How economical.

Do you hear yourself right now?

Watching the game is not that important since it is 3 hrs + and she probably is not watching every second of it and there are TVs backstage and in the dressing room.

NBC and the NFL would want her to do the halftime show and more entertaning than panning the cameras to her sitting in the sky box.

She should do it because NBC probably wants her to? And she could still watch most of it on a monitor if she wanted? Are you aware that she is an independent person with her own free will?

She could do one any time she wanted to, if she wanted to. Don't you think it would mean more to her to maybe do the first in her hometown od Nashville, Tennessee? Or possibly in a new stadium in Kansas City, if Kansas builds them one? Don't those two locations, or Los Angeles for that matter, make a lot more sense than San Francisco for her?

Maybe she said she's baking sourdough bread because...she's baking sourdough bread. That would explain why Jason Kelce said his kids are enjoying the sourdough bread she sends them.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

The one and only reason for Taylor Swift to perform for 20 minutes at a Super Bowl is because she wants to do it. But it is still a lot of work and preparation for a one time appearance. She's bigger than the Super Bowl and has no need for the promotional opportunity. Think about how much attention she receives just showing up to watch the game.

Why would she want to do it? IDK, I'm not in her head Would she do it because the NFL is part of Travis' life? That's the only reason I can imagine.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I asked the question and CNN answered it.
Taylor Swift’s new album comes on cassette. Who is buying those?

Influence of the ‘super fans’

Leading the trend are so-called “super fans,” whoaccount for 18% of music listeners in the United States, according to a recent report from Luminate. “Super fans” engage with their favorite artist in at least five different ways, including streaming, attending a concert, and physically purchasing their music (like cassettes or CDs). Also, they spend $39 per month on those purchases, 105% more than the average fan.

These hyper-engaged fans are mostly Gen Z, with the top-selling cassette sales in 2025 coming from top 40 artists, like Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Charli XCX, Luminate’s data revealed. Gen Z is also the biggest demographic of US music listeners to buy cassettes, with 9% purchasing one in the past year.

Kori Fuerst, the owner of Retrospekt, an online store that revives retro technology, said that a “vast majority” of buyers for cassettes are millennials, Gen Z and Gen Y — all of whom “are looking for more opportunities to put their phone down and interact with music in a way that doesn’t require streaming.”

“With a cassette tape, it’s not easy to skip around between songs,”she told CNN. “You have to listen to the album all the way through, stopping to flip the tape halfway through. These tangible experiences are a nice reprieve from the perfect curation of a streamed playlist.”
I had a couple of tape decks that did allow track skipping.

Maybe because some of the biggest musicians of all time did it like Prince, Michael Jackson, Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, and U2 and I assume she would want to be part of that tradition and history.

She might. But not while her boyfriend is playing and could potentially be in the game. Doesn't it make more sense to wait until he retires?
You keep posting here without coming up with any reason why she would want to do it this season besides 60 is a round number.

Except for Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson, they were legacy acts who did the SB show past their prime and peak popularity.

But your reason, to join the list of great stars who did it, is all her motivation about her own place in music history. So considerations, like which SB it is or where it's held, are irrelevant.

I'm certain Taylor's place in music history is secured whether or not she ever plays the SB.

Neither were legacy acts. The Who, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Dr. Dre those are legacy acts.

Dangerous was about 15 months old when Micheal Jackson did the show. It was up for four Grammys the same year (and won one).
Joanne was topping the chart when Gaga did the show and she launched a tour off the back of the performance.
Neither were past their prime and the peak of popularity. They weren't like Rhianna was when she did her show. Both were still on the list of tops performers worldwide when they did their shows.

Since the performers don't get paid by the NFL the reasons to do the show are promotion (album, tour, hey remember me), ego or to check it off a list. Swift doesn't been to do it for the first two.

I think he was saying that Gaga and Jackson were NOT the legacy acts.

I had a double deck that did 2x dubbing. That was like science fiction back in the day!

Ah yes I see that now. Apologies to Count. Looking back on the performers in the last twenty years it seems 60/40 is relevant vs older performers.

More to the point - most of the 2020 acts (The Weeknd, Rhianna, Kendrick, Shakira) are not legacy acts. Though the old-school rap performance in LA with Dre, Snoop, Mary J and Eminem was pretty special as well.

Even as big as all those artists are, the platform of the Super Bowl is still huge enough to serve their need for promotion. Taylor is bigger than them and that. She does not need to promote herself by doing the Super Bowl. Doing the SB is not going to make her a bigger star, or confirm her place in the pantheon of superstars.

Imagine what would happen if just for shits and giggles, she scheduled a one time only live streaming concert at the same time as the SB.

I remember John Lennon saying that if the Beatles reunited, people would be “expecting God.” If Taylor did a SB, she’d probably get picked to death, and maybe she just doesn’t want the hassle.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

One thing I am certain of, it's that Taylor is happy to be taking a break from performing. She just did 149 three-hour shows in 51 cities in 21 countries over 21 months. I think she's earned some time off.

And if the NFL could lure her to the SB by just letting her do an unrehearsed acoustic set, the NFL would gladly take it. She's an eyeball magnet.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I had a long drive yesterday, so listened to the whole New Heights podcast. One interesting thing: Taylor knew absolutely nothing about football before dating Travis. BUT, she did know the halftime acts at the SB.
