4/18/12: Refused/The Hives/The Bronx
I missed The Bronx, but the rest of the show was ridiculous.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
April 17 - Snow Patrol with Ed Sheeran
April 19 - Death Cab For Cutie with the Magik Magik Orchestra and Low
Both shows were really good - Death Cab was very low key but they sounded great with the Orchestra and I had front row tix, which was awesome.

Just got back from seeing Overkill, they were great as I expected them to be, but I was surprised how good the opening act before them was, God Forbid. Definitely going to look into picking up some of their stuff now.

Last concert I saw was:
The Flatliners/Heartsounds/Civil War Rust/Great Apes
Left before The Flatliners started because my friend was feeling puke-ish.

Here are a couple recordings I made from the Overkill show last night in Chicago. The audio quality is lacking since it was from a small digital camera

Weedeater with ASG, Cough, Churches Burning @ Ace of Cups in Columbus 4/20/12
I was only able to stay through ASG- which is who I went to see- and they rocked as expected. The first two bands, not so much...
Next Monday M83 in Denver!

The Hives were really great live. It was my first time seeing them and I was impressed. Really funny stage banter/audience interactions too. They've been around since 93'-94' and were (at one point) on the same record label as Refused (Burning Heart Records). Their singer, Pelle Almqvist, on-stage arrogance is definitely part of their schtick.
Refused was amazing. They played 'Everlasting' which surprised even me, because it's a really old song and they didn't play it in either of their SoCal shows.

Color me envious. I'm ashamed to say I didn't even know they had reunited. The Shape of Punk to Come is one of the all-time greatest albums ever, in my opinion.

We just saw them on Saturday here in Tulsa, OK. The Black Keys rocked as expected although it was a bit too short of a set if you ask me. However, after the first few songs of Arctic Monkeys I grew tired of their sound as almost every song either started or ended frantically as if they were trying to strum their guitars to death or bang the drums into oblivion. And they played for nearly an hour while The Black Keys set wasn't much longer than that including their encore songs.

A friend of mine just moved back to San Francisco about a week before the show and she didn't even know they were playing.

Saw Social Distortion on April 27th. They were a great live band. I have to say Mike Ness has one of the best live voices I've ever heard. Next up for me are Rush in September and Red Hot Chili Peppers in October.

We would have caught Garbage here in town as well, but they had to postpone due to one of the band members having to deal with a family issue, per their website.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Saw Michael Schenker last month at the Canyon Club in Agoura. The show was good but a few in the crowd were bonafide A-Holes! I was offered a punch in the face by two separate individuals (two unrelated incidents). I declined both offers. One guy was annoyed that I was standing up in front of him even though the persons in front of me were standing up as well. So I moved to my left and stood up in front of the person to his left (who didn't complain).

Same here, the wife and I caught this show in Austin a couple of weeks ago. I completely agree about the Arctic Monkeys, it got repetitive after the first few songs for me. I didnt like the fact that they played about an hour - and used strobe lights for so much of it. Black Keys rocked it damn good though. But I wish their set was much longer.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
As previously mentioned, I saw Refused at Terminal 5. They were spectacular. Even got Lou from Sick Of It All to do a couple tracks. It was an amazing show. And Ceremony opened. I had never heard of them prior, but they certainly made me a fan after the show.
I also saw Opeth/Mastodon/Ghost at Roseland Ballroom. Ghost was cool, amazing stage show. Music was pretty good. Opeth did not disappoint me at all, although the crowd had a different opinion. Mastodon, my 6th time seeing them, also did not disappoint. They played a killer set and got all the songs I like. Very good show.
Upcoming I have:
Death Cab For Cutie 7/19, Wellmont Theater Montclair, NJ (Never been to the venue, right down the street from my uncle's place)
Fitz And The Tantrums 9/20, Community Theater Morristown, NJ (One of my favorite venues and in my home town)
