Love Etc. is #21 on Billboard's Bubbling Under chart this week... this means that this is PSB's highest charting US single since Can You Forgive Her hit #7 on Bubbling Under (technically #107, like Love Etc is #121) in 1993.

Listen to this man!

Alternative is my favorite PSB album by far, dwarfing even Please and Actually. Couldn't get into their last album though(even if it did have Marr on guitars), so I'm not sure how much faith I have in them recapturing the magic of the 80s/early 90s stuff.

Re: Pet Shop Boys - Yes 03/23 [UK]

On a slightly different PSB note, am I the only one here that thinks "It Couldn't Happen Here" is one of, if not THE greatest ballad ever written/composed? I recently discovered Angelo Balamenti was involved in the arrangement of the song and now I know why

OutRun2 the last album was Fundamental (Marr didn't work-on that album).
The one you thinking about is Release (that the one were he did most if not all the guitar work).

So, at first I thought this was a joke, but apparently PETA did in fact ask Neil and Chris if they would consider changing their name to the Rescue Shelter Boys:

That would take the fun at of going into a pet store (like Petsmart)and asking "Are Neil and Chris in today".

I love see there faces when they don't know who the Pet Shop Boys are.

Hey OutRun2 who are you asking me or Giles

It's not close to enough to the sound of Actually but there are hints of past here and there on the CD.

They are always moving forward in there sound (some says they have not) and that good thing each new CD I am always lookin forward to fresh sounds.

isn't it really difficult to compare material that's been out for a month to something that has 20 years behind it?

I personally do think it's a great album and I do notice it getting a lot of raves on boards I go to. Neil and Chris are so different today than they were in 1987 that comparing it is tough.

This album is pop perfection though IMO, All Over The World, Did You See Me Coming, Love Etc, The Way It Used To Be, Beautiful People and Vulnerable are some of the best pop songs you're going to hear in 2009. Can't wait for the vinyl release in May.

Re: Pet Shop Boys - Yes 03/23 [UK]

Can I just say that I hate that the 2-disc version isn't in a proper jewel case? Doesn't look nearly as nice on the shelf. Oh well.

"Do you see me coming?" has been pencilled in for a June 1 release in the UK. That's coming up fast!

^ I'm annoyed, I purchased the two singles for Love Etc. and the Doves single from recordstore.co.uk over two weeks now, and I still haven't got them in the mail, I was better off buying CD's from Action Records...

Re: Pet Shop Boys - Yes 03/23 [UK]

The tracklist for the UK release of "Did you see me coming?" was released on the official site today:

2-track CD
1. Did you see me coming?
2. After the event

Maxi CD
1. Did you see me coming? (PSB 12" mix)
2. The former enfant terrible
3. Up and down

12” Vinyl
1A Did you see me coming? (PSB 12” mix)
1B Did you see me coming? (Unicorn Kid mix)
2 The way it used to be (Richard X mix)

Digital Bundle 1
1. Did you see me coming?
2. Pet Shop Boys Brits medley

Digital Bundle 2
1. Did you see me coming? (Unicorn Kid mix)
2. The way it used to be (Richard X mix)

Digital Bundle 3
1. Did you see me coming? (PSB 12” mix)
2. The former enfant terrible (Bring it on mix)

It looks really good - so happy to see a 12" release this time, and a Richard X mix on top of that! "The former enfant terrible" was originally talked about way back in the 'Nightlife'-era I believe it was, so it's nice to see that finally coming out. Hopefully there will be a US digital release this time for the stuff that's not on the physical formats.

Re: Pet Shop Boys - Yes 03/23 [UK]

I'm a bit behind, but I finally managed to pick this up yesterday (the 2 disc set). So far I'm really liking it, but I still haven't had a good chance to really give it a good listen yet and probably won't until I get back to work on Tuesday.

I also just recently managed to get my hands on Bilingual with the Further Listening disc. Now I only need to track down Please and Actually (already have Introspective, Behavior and Very). I know I can get digital copies, but I'd prefer physical copy if I can find them for a decent price.

Re: Pet Shop Boys - Yes 03/23 [UK]

I thought that I had posted in this thread before, but in listing to this CD I found myself with a weird feeling .. It was like I had heard this CD before. Maybe because of the song styles - they reminded me of older PSB tracks, and that was a good thing. Overall a very nice release that I hope sells well for them.

If you can try pick-up the 2 disc version of those classic albums (they have alot great remixes and B-sides).

I should know I have them all I listen to them once in blue when I fell like PSB moment is coming on.

Re: Pet Shop Boys - Yes 03/23 [UK]

A bit of a bump...

"Did you see me coming?" comes out in the UK on Monday - a digital release in the US I believe on Tuesday or a week from Tuesday. As a treat, the boys have made an exclusive remix of b-side "Up and down" by Tom Stephan available for the cost of your e-mail address:

http://emr.emi.com/go.asp?/.parlopho....forms/bEMU001

It's quite good - there's a bit of "Opportunities" mixed in the backing track.
