I wonder if he knew Darrell or if he was just some nut.
I was never a fan of Pantera, nor that type of music, at all. I did like their cover of Black Sabbath's "Planet Caravan", very melodic. But this is a shame and he seems to have inspired and entertained many people.

This sucks, especially when his former bandmate is an arogant prick that taunts death, I really could see this happening to Phil. So what happens to the strip club?

what a senseless tradegy. when i heard this i just thought WTF !!!!!!!!!!???????????
I grew up with pantera and went through high school/college just loving this band. He was easily one of the most talented guitarists that ive ever heard...
very sad day for metal fans, and guitar fans.

Wow. I'm sick to my stomach right now. While I never got to see Pantera live, I was always proud that they called Dallas home. This is just a terrible day.

Guys like Stevie Ray and Dimebag die and no talent fucks like C.C. DeVille live. Unfucking fair.
I'll give Dimebag this much- that was a FUCKING METAL way to go.

Pretty crazy...You go to a metal show and a rap concert breaks out. Its been sometime since I have listened to Pantera, but this is a sad day indeed. I still remember seeing Pantera and Deicide years ago after CFH was released, and my mom coming in to the venue to pick us up after seeing Hank Williams Jr. Going to dust off my old cd case and play a little One Step to bring me back.

It's shit like this that's going to bring an end to small venue shows by big artists. I remember standing four feet from Slash during the first show of "Slash's Snakepit". If I were him today, there's no way I'd do that again without prohibitively expensive security in place. Guys like Dimebag didn't HAVE to do shows like that.

That's a shame. I never really was into Pantera's music, but one of the funniest things that I've ever seen on TV was this:
Butthead: This Pantera guy seems really pissed off.
Beavis: His dad was probably like- damnit Pantera go mow the lawn.
Butthead: You treat your stepmother with a little respect, Pantera
Beavis: What, is that a tear, is daddy's little girl upset?
An aside: the Alrosa Villa has got to have some of the most annoying radio commericials ever. Anyone ever hear these, with the guy shouting the upcoming acts?

This is pretty sad news! He was one of the greatest thrash/power metal guitarists ever. I was a big fan of Pantera in the early 90's, not so much lately. Sold most of my Pantera CDs, except COWBOYS, VULGAR and a promotional WALK CD single with Godflesh/Foetus remixes. VULGAR is easily one of the best metal albums of all time.

Did this club not have security? In NYC we are patted down and/or wanded by security outside the doors. No way an audience member would get a gun in.

Personally, out of all the concerts I've ever been to in my entire life (covering pretty much every conceivable genre, except rap, I guess, in venues of all different sizes), I have never been patted down. I can't recall having been wanded, but if that did happen, it was an exceptionally rare occurrence.

Yep, that's the owner, Rick Cuetella (sp) the " rock-n-roll reverend" he's a cheeseball who tries so hard to be cool.
I've seen quite a few shows there over the years, from local bands, to KoRn on their first album, Deftones second album, such a shame it had to happen, well, period.

Cut and pasted from elsewhere....
'Check out the Jan 05' issue of Guitar World mag (Henry Garza/Los Lonely boys on the cover). The back side of the SRV poster has an old Pantera concert poster...a show in Ohio no less. The picture shows a horned man drawing a chalk line around the dead body of an angel. The caption on the poster....."Prepare to count your dead"'
