true it may not be the final copy, but it is a leaked copy of the album in some form or fashion.

It looks like Nov. 14 may be the release date. I work for a music store and G'n'R is listed as a new release for the 14th, although there is no title and we can not order it in yet from the store level.

At this point, there's only seven Tuesdays left in 2006--I'm extremely skeptical that we'll see the album this year.
And I think it's hilarious.

Did Izzy join VR recently? He wasn't in them last time I checked.

Also, the record company certainly would like people to know the release date in advance so that they could get the stores to order the CD. It's not supposed to be a secret.
No way it's coming out in 2006. No way.

On November 13 an Internet rumour began to circulate that a mysterious shipment of an album titled "Blue Trees And Greem Grass", by an unknown band called "The Far Downs", was due for delivery to HMV stores, during that week, for a November 20 release. Speculation ran rampant that this could be Chinese Democracy, in disguise, as any Internet search for "The Far Downs" or "Blue Trees And Greem Grass" brought forth no information. This speculation has yet to be confirmed and remains rumour.

Okay, I don't know how music retail works, but don't stores have to actually order albums?
If they don't have any kind of release date for Chinese Democracy, then how does it end up in stores? At some point, don't the chain's buyers (not to mention independent stores) have to actually order them?
Or they just going to drop crates of the CD at all of the stores Tuesday morning?

Traditionally, yes they would order in advance from a list of upcoming titles.
However, with an artist as "big" as this, and a title that has "built in" sales to it - all it would take would be for the label to contact the various buyers and distributers and go "It's coming out next week. How many do you want?" This would still give them (the label) enough time to process/place orders, and get it into stores for a specific date, even if they had to rush ship it.
While true the labels would like as much time as possible to promote the album in advance as possible, given the nature and history of the album/band in question, all they'd really need was a weekend or couple of days of press releases to MTV, Radio and the like to get the word out in time for enough people to know about it.
Now, for the album in question...speaking as someone who has been a buyer for a music chain before (which must reamin nameless), and is still in contact with many lables, including the one GnR is on - I have heard of NO specific release date for this album. It's going to come out when it comes out. And, I think beacuse of the highly unpredicatble nature of one Axl Rose, the label doesn't want to say until it's a 100% sure thing.

I honestly want to hear the new music, but the way this is being handled is really getting ridiculous. $50 bucks says Axl's garage is filled with boxes of the pressed CD's just waiting til....well, what, exactly? How much time does he need that hasn't already been wasted? Is he going to re-record all the tracks everytime a new musician is brought into the touring lineup? I just don't understand.

There's never been an official release date so how can it be ever-changing?
