This guys getting weirder than Jacko. And that's from someone who's seen them twice. The last being 2002? I know I was at 1 of just a handful of shows since the tour was canceled.

I dont think he should ever release it. I mean come on, WAY to much build up and I think the majority of people who have heard his voice over the past few years will agree that its gone. So it will be released, diehard GnR fans will love it cause their god is back, and people who are not so easily swayed will tear it to pieces. He just doesnt have one of those personalties you want to like or help, or have pity for. He looks like such a poser these days too. I dont see how he can be taken serious anymore.
I would have liked to hear Chinese Democracy about 10 years ago, but now I have no real interest in hearing his broken horrid voice, and I certaintly dont want to keep seeing his self absorbed massive ego on tv. I get the idea he still thinks hes in 1988 and is the bomb. Even with MTV having him do the final performance a few years back at the VMAs, and acting as if it was the best thing ever, it still couldnt hide the fact that he sucked. Musically fine, voice crappy.
If it comes out and they fixed his vocals, whatever, fine, cool, but if not.....

disagree on the you tube 2006 rock am ring performance, that ROCKED
I saw axl and company in the 90s with metallica (they played first)
it was 3 hours of metallica, 3 hours of waiting for axl (ass-ho)
no liquor sold (yeah) no pass outs (yeah) sitting around the arena in the halls due to boredeom, people weren't in a particularly good mood by the time showtime rolled around again.
in something of an over correctiom for the 'one In a million' accusations perhaps, when axl finally did come out he was wearing a 'Free Mike Tyson' t-shirt as he walked on to the stage. this is in indiana, where tyson had just been incarcertated for raping some chick. axl was like 'fuck-in indiana' blah blah.......
anyway, besides trying to raise the ire of every redneck in marion county, or their wives at least, guns did once again ROCK. 9 hour show total. I went and immediately bought a 6 pack at 3 am. the st louis(?) riot show followed not to long after where people tore out the seats and destroyed the stage and set etc.
but I'd say he sounds better in this nightrain than when I saw him in the 90s. more passionate for sure. a LONG way from the out of breath paunchy vma performance.
on the other hand the metallica/guns show I saw was during the end period Illusion tour with horns & girl background singers and butchering the stone's 'wild horses' and stuff so, not his prime.
I think they sound like what they are, a rocking well rehearsed apparently pretty well oiled band ready to tour their new album. I'll be going.... it'd be worth it to me just to see tommy stinson again
amidst all the great bands and music out there now, I think somehow there's still a place for what was la sunset strip rock in the late 80s. or not. certainly nobody's aping that style anymore (cough) velvet revolver. I haven't heard any of the leaked chinese democracy though so I don't know how that fits into the overall canon

I just seen Tommy Stinson last night playing with Soul Asylum. Man that guy still can rock as well as the rest of Soul Asylum. Was well worth the $20 ticket price, would have gladly paid $50. By the way the show was in Milwaukee with a crowd of maybe 400 people.

GUNS N' ROSES ANNOUNCE "CHINESE DEMOCRACY" NORTH AMERICAN TOUR AND STRATEGIC RELATIONSHIP WITH MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL ADVANCED MEDIA
Hot on the heels of their sell out shows last week in Las Vegas, San Francisco and KROQ's Inland Invasion in Los Angeles Guns N' Roses announce the first leg of their "Chinese Democracy" North American Tour.
The tour which will kick off on the 20th of October in Jacksonville, Florida finds the band in top form having spent the summer in Europe playing to 700,000 plus people over 32 shows in 18 countries, making it one of the biggest tours of the year on the continent and in the UK. Concert goers were not let down as Axl Rose and his band mates Dizzy Reed, Robin Finck, Richard Fortus, Tommy Stinson, Chris Pitman, Brain and Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal burned through classics such as "Welcome to the Jungle," "Paradise City," "Nightrain," "Mr. Brownstone," "November Rain" and "Sweet Child O' Mine" as well as highlighting soon to be favourites from the forthcoming "Chinese Democracy" album.
Just this week, the Hollywood Reporter's concert review of KROQ's Inland Invasion observed, "when headliner Guns N' Roses took the stage everything old became new again - and everything new on the bill, just couldn't hold a candle in comparison... the night belonged to Guns N' Roses!"
Axl Rose commented, "We had an amazing tour in Europe this summer and last week’s shows here in the US were great. It's been a long time getting here but we look forward to coming to your town and having a lot of fun."
Sebastian Bach who has been guesting with Guns N' Roses on "My Michelle" will open the entire tour with the Special Guest slot going to a number of great bands starting with Papa Roach for the dates through the 3rd of November. The shows have been planned to cater to a Guns N' Roses rock n' roll party atmosphere with Sebastian hitting the stage every night at 8 pm followed by the Special Guest at 9 pm and Guns N' Roses shortly after 10 pm and lots of great music in between.
Guns N' Roses are also delighted to announce that they have partnered with Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLB.COM) to provide their fans with premium ticketing opportunities and up to the minute information on the tour and the band's other activities via gunsnroses.com which will be launched as of tomorrow.
As for Guns N' Roses forthcoming "Chinese Democracy" album the only comment at this time is that there are 13 Tuesdays left between now and the end of the year.
The itinerary for the "Chinese Democracy" North American Tour is as follows. Tickets for most dates go on sale on the 30th of September with up to the minute information and pre-sales available now at gunsnroses.com.

Dvd josh - here's some of the lyrics to one in a million from GNR Lies
Police and ******s
That's right
Get out of my way
Don't need to buy none of your
Goldchains today
Immigrants and faggots
They make no sense to me
They come to our country
And think they'll do as they please
Like start some mini Iran
Or spread some fucking disease
They talk so many goddamn ways
It's all greek to me
Police and ******s
That's right
Get out of my way
Don't need to buy none of your
Goldchains today
Immigrants and faggots

Axl was writing about what the environment was like in LA when he first got there from Indiana.
I'll let Axl explain it himself:

The Rolling Stone Interview With Axl Rose
Rolling Stone, August 1989
So far the song that's inspired the most controversy in the band's short career has been "One in a Million." How did you come to write that song?
"One in a Million" was written while sitting in the apartment of my friend West Arkeen, who's like the sixth member of the band. I wrote it at his house, sitting around bored watching TV. I can't really play guitar too well, I only play the top two strings, and I would write a little piece at a time. I started writing about wanting to get out of LA , getting away for a little while. I'd been down to the downtown-L.A. Greyhound bus station. If you haven't been there, you can't say shit to me about what goes on and about my point of view. There are a large number of black men selling stolen jewelry, crack, heroin and pot, and most of the drugs are bogus. Rip-off artists selling parking spaces to parking lots that there's no charge for. Trying to misguide every kid that gets off the bus and doesn't quite know where he's at or where to go, trying to take the person for whatever they've got. That's how I hit town. The thing with "One in a Million" is, basically, we're all one in a million, we're all here on this earth. We're one fish in a sea. Let's quit fucking with each other, fucking with me.
The lyrics have incited a lot of protest, so let's go over them line by line. Let's start with one of the verses, "Police and ******s, that's right/Get outta my way/Don't need to buy none/ Of your gold chains today."
I used words like police and ******s because you're not allowed to use the word ******. Why can black people go up to each other and say, "******," but when a white guy does it all of a sudden it's a big put-down. I don't like boundaries of any kind. I don't like being told what I can and what I can't say. I used the word ****** because it's a word to describe somebody that is basically a pain in your life, a problem. The word ****** doesn't necessarily mean black. Doesn't John Lennon have a song "Woman Is the ****** of the World"? There's a rap group, N.W.A., ******s with Attitude. I mean, they're proud of that word. More power to them. Guns N' Roses ain't bad. . . . N.W.A. is baad! Mr. Bob Goldthwait said the only reason we put these lyrics on the record was because it would cause controversy and we'd sell a million albums. Fuck him! Why'd he put us in his skit? We don't just do something to get the controversy, the press.

Sounds like a lot of backpedaling...I've read like 5 other excuses he gives for using the word ******, all different.... ...and what about the immigrants and faggots part??...if ****** is a word he uses to describe a bother to him, then immigrants must be a word he uses to describe his chronic back pain and faggots must be the word he uses for a shitty batch of heroin....it's a blatant enough, and if he thinks anyone's going to buy any of those excuses, then he must be a DUMB racist tool...

Here's another Axl interview on the subject (from 20 years ago, when the controversy died):
http://heretodaygonetohell.com/artic...hp?articleid=2
What's 'One in a million' about?
'One in a million' is about...... I went back and forth from Indiana eight times my first year in Hollywood. I wrote it about being dropped off at the bus station and everything that was going on. I'd never been in a city this big and was fortunate enough to have this black dude help me find my way. He guided me to the RTD station and showed me what bus to take, because I couldn't get a straight answer out of anybody. He wasn't after my money or anything. It was more like, "Here's a new kid in town, and he looks like he might get into trouble down here. Lemme help him get on his way." People kept coming up trying to sell me joints and stuff. In downtown L.A the joints are usually bogus, or they'll sell you drugs that can kill you. It's a really ugly scene. The song's not about him, but you could kinda say he was one in a million. When I sat down after walking in circles for three hours, the cops told me to get off the streets. The cops down there have seen so much slime that they figure if you have long hair, you're probably slime also. The black guys trying to sell you jewelry and drugs is where the line 'Police and ******s, get out of my way' comes from. I've seen these huge black dudes pull Bowie knives on people for their boom boxes and shit. It's ugly.
There are some, shall we say, controversial lines in the song, aren't there?
The line about 'immigrants and faggots' you mean? I don't have anything against someone coming here from another country and trying to better themselves. What I don't dig is some 7-11 worker acting as though you don't belong here, or acting like they don't understand you while they're trying to rip you off. [Axl mimics an Iranian] "Wot? I no understand you". I'm saying "I gave you a 20, and I want my $15 change!" I threatened to blow up their gas station, and then they gave me my change. I don't need that. I don't know what to think about gays. They're in a world of their own. I'm not too happy about AIDS. When I say I'm a small-town white boy, I'm just saying I'm no better than anyone else I've described. I'm just trying to get through life, that's all.

"you're just too ignorant to accept lyrics for their contextual meaning, and not at face value"
Hahahahahahaha - sorry...i guess I'm just not imaginitive enough to draw a different meaning from those lyrics...i mean they are pretty vague and open for personal interperatation...i guess Slash didn't get it either when he said "I'll say only I wasn't for that song at all, and I refuse to play it on the shows."

and by the way...Axl's a fucking moron...He doesn't like gays because of AIDS?..that's his reason?? His dirty needles are more in danger of spreading AIDS than gays are...He hates immigrants because of the guy at the gas station??..then I hate white chicks, because some waitress pissed me off last night and gave me shitty service...They're bullshit responses to save his ass in the press so people would keep financing his drug binges and those were the best things they could come up with. I guess the PR at Geffin was a little lacking at the time....
