They're adding this to around 250 more theatres this weekend.
Total haul so far is $27m (almost $30m WW).

I am not a fan of the first two simply because they are overlong, the stories suck and though I don't mind gory films, I don't enjoy watching people get tortured for extended amounts of time. Just not my thing.
The Saw films are about my limit with that kind of stuff. The Terrifer films are like The Passion Of The Christ. Just explicit and gory torture for 90% of the runtime.
Hostel always get the mention for the first torture porn flick but The Passion was a year earlier and ironically gave birth to the horror torture porn flicks. At least, that is what I believe.
Anyway, I think the most impressive thing about the Terrifier series is how realistic the gore is even with the massively low budgets in comparison to so many other movies. Like Godzilla Minus One looking so damn good and then a crazy budget Marvel/DC movie's effects looking like shit.
I will eventually see this out of curiosity but will wait until it hit streaming. I like the ability to stop, fast forward, or even walk away if I feel like I need to. People suffering is hard for me to watch even if it is fictional. And the suffering in these movies are prolonged and thus, much more realistic to the horror people experience all over the world. It's just harder for me to take than a quick 3 second stabbing in a Halloween movie

Looking at Wiki. Impressive. I wasn’t aware the first had a $40k budget. Nor that he’s been toying with the character for 18 years. Follow your dreams. Ha.

It happened to mine (Saw it earlier)
I disliked the 1st movie because of it's brutality. Disliked the 2nd one mostly because of it's runtime. But, aside from a lack of closure, this turned out to be the most tolerable one for me (Yet)

Gave the first two another try and holy crap are they a slog. Just devoid of substance and the gore is cartoonish and tiresome. Add to that the stupid facial expressions of Art and I really just don’t get the appeal of this crap. I give the original credit for not looking like a $35,000 film but that’s it.

Watched the first one on Monday. I liked it a tad more than the first time I watched it. I might rewatch the second one sometime over the weekend and check out the third next week when my wife is out of town (she would never watch any of them).

Saw it yesterday at a random 1PM show and the theater was packed with college age kids. This is definitely this generations Freddy or Jason.

Nice. At this rate (and based on a couple of ‘known’ actors appearing in this installment) Leone may have Hollywood A-listers or other celebs begging him to be ripped apart in Part 4 for the cred it would give them. Which may not be a good thing.
That said, this surely must be the most profitable Jason Patric movie in a hundred years.

No plans to see the movie, but I admire its accomplishment. So much of what this movie made is pure profit. I hope this creates a trend for future movies that aren't horror based. Make a lot of movies at a low cost that can actually make money, not a $200 million IP based attraction that has to get close to $1 billion after marketing to get anywhere near even.

I'm just glad this year saw so many talked about low or reasonably budgeted films in general, even if they weren't as successful.

I tried to watch this last night but really wasn’t getting into it. I think these movies just aren’t really for me.
Beyond the gross out stuff there’s just not much else that these movies offer for my taste. Even when they attempt to have a plot it feels so paper thin and secondary.
I had about forty-five minutes left and went to pause it to take care of a few things. By the time I came back my tv had auto shut off and I didn’t care to finish.

Funny incident from Comic Con. Probably need to go directly to YouTube to see it.

So, as a person who is outspoken in their hate for this franchise, I do still watch them out of curiosity. While still terrible, this is probably the best one there is. At least this one actually felt a bit creepy and while the kills are still way too over the top, Leone backed off a bit here (not much, but enough). These films are still way too long as well but at least this one felt the shortest.
I'm guessing from this point, these films will never have a bigger budget as well.
