I saw THAT in theaters?

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Does it count if you liked the movie when you first saw it? I feel like "movies you liked as a kid that you dislike as an adult" is a different categoty.
That first TMNT film still has an 81% audience score on RottenTomatoes:

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Do I get credit for skipping TMNT 3 with my friends and watching CB4 instead?
They saw TMNT and I saw CB4.
I saw TMNT 3 years later and it was horrible and the first movie is probably cringe especially that Vanilla Ice scene.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Among the first movies I recall ever seeing at the theater. This particularly strange era in cinema seemed to begin with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and ended with Slapstick of Another Kind. In between, I also remember going to see:
The Incredible Shrinking Woman
Flash Gordon
Super Fuzz
Time Bandits
Yor
Space Raiders
Can't Stop The Music (Can't remember for sure if I really saw this in the theater, but I had it on viewmaster!)
Under The Rainbow
Boogens
Two of a Kind
Any Which Way You Can
The Final Countdown (I never, ever forgot that imagery of the wormhole sequences on the Drive-In screen)
They Call Me Bruce
Ator
Timerider
Modern Problems (Chevy Chase with Super Powers)
All I needed was Xanadau to round things out perfectly
I also never forgot the trailers for Strange Brew and The Return of Captain Invincible
EDIT-Just remembered there was one trailer I saw that had a statue of Alfred E. Newman appearing in it. Honestly wasn't sure if I imagined that or not. Turns out it was Up The Academy after blind-buying the DVD for $1 decades later.

(For the record, I did see three on your list in theaters back then: FLASH GORDON, SUPER FUZZ and ANY WHICH WAY YOU CAN, and enjoyed them way more than any of the Oscar bait being foisted on us at the time.)

I don't think anyone here has mentioned Godzilla (1998). I remember seeing it in theaters and the hype for it was huge. Knowing it was being made by Roland Emmerich and I liked both Independence Day and Stargate when I saw them in theaters. It just felt off for me. I laughed at the Siskel and Ebert jokes but by the end felt like it was trying to rip off Jurassic Park. I walked out of the theater wanting to like it but didn't.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
I went to see The Shawshank Redemption opening weekend, with a good-sized audience, so I was surprised to learn years later it was considered a "bomb". Gee, it looked popular when I saw it.
I checked my old movie journal and see that was a busy weekend; October 14th 1994 was when Pulp Fiction, Shawshank, and Wes Craven's New Nightmare all opened in my town. Also playing at the time was Ed Wood, Quiz Show, and Exit To Eden, the latter being the only one I didn't go to see.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
I had to watch Gandhi twice with my parents and then when my parents took a Uncle to see it.
That was one of the rare movies with a intermission though I would not put it on the bad movies list since it won several Oscars,

Speaking of, when I was a kid my parents took me with them to see A Passage to India, David Lean's last movie. I remember it having an intermission. I was too young to really understand the movie, but certain scenes and images stuck with me. I rewatched it a few years ago and really appreciated it.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Two years after seeing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991) in theaters, I thought Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (1993) would be an automatic win
When I was 9-years old, my Dad took me to see Medicine Man (1992) in theaters. Had to carry me out of the theater within the first 15-minutes because I fell asleep.

OMG I forgot all about that. I did watch that in theaters. I think I blocked that out of my memory. I did watch it for "free" though. At the time the theaters around me weren't the best and would frequently have issues. If they were bad enough I would go out and notify them about it at the time. And if they didn't fix it I would ask for a refund or voucher after the movie was over. I forgot what happened with this screening. This might have been the one movie that I saw that actually burned through the film. But I can't imagine me sitting and waiting around for them to fix it with this movie. Either way I remember being glad that I didn't have to pay for the movie.

I did the same with Gandhi as a adult
It was not that bad though not sure if I would watch it again.
I remember I was pissed It beat E.T. for all the Oscars in 1983.
