I saw THAT in theaters?
Thread dedicated to listing either really bizarre movies or straight garbage you saw in theaters. I saw quite a few clunkers especially as a kid/early teen.
Garfield (2004) The Wild (2006) Alvin and the Chipmunks (and the 2nd one) Delgo (I bet none of you have heard of this) Igor 10,000 BC Dragonball Evolution G-Force Tooth Fairy (with Dwayne Johnson) Both Percy Jackson movies The Last Airbender Mirror Mirror After Earth Independence Day: Resurgence Justice League (2017) |
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
I am proud to say I saw both Howard The Duck and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace in almost deserted theatres. Back in my day, kids, we comic nerds were desperate for ANY adaptations no matter how bad or off model they were.
if you told 15 year old me in 1987 that one day Aquaman, Moon Knight and even bloody SHE-HULK would be getting multi million dollar adaptations, I’d have fallen out of my Vans sneakers. |

A movie so bad that by the end I was shouting at the screen and no one said anything because it didn't make the movie any worse. Other stuff like Cats and The Final Destination, I actually enjoyed in an MST3K way. |
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Lots of them for sure. I didn’t necessarily hate all of them at the time, but looking back they’re not good movies or at least ones I don’t enjoy. Some that come to mind are:
The Brothers Grimm The Campaign Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close Funny People Justice League A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) Paranoia Suicide Squad Terminator: Genisys Terminator: Dark Fate Texas Chainsaw 3D X-Men: Dark Phoenix Lots more I’m not remembering I’m sure. |
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Jaws 3D
Jaws: The Revenge Robotjox Wild Wild West The Avengers (1998) - I walked out Speed 2: Cruise Control - I walked out |
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Oh I'd like to add:
Batman V. Superman Joker (walked out) Eragon X-Files: I Want to Believe The Predator Ender's Game (and I loved the book!) Residents Evil 3 and 5 Death Race Valentine's Day (walked out) |
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Oh another I forgot- A Good Day to Die Hard. On top of it not being good I bought the Blu-ray to complete my collection. Used to be more OCD than I am now.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Johnny Be Good with Anthony Michale Hall. To this day I have no idea why my friends wanted to see it or why I went. Such a weird bad movie.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Black Knight ( I walked out)
MTV’s Real Cancun - I was an intentional third wheel. A friend of mine was going with a broad he wasn’t interested in and didn’t want it to seem like a date. |

It had Gene Simmons, Robert Englund, and one time James Bond, George Lazenby. Boy did I get suckered. That's arguably the worst movie I've ever seen. |

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
When I was ten, there were few movies I could go see on my own due to the Ontario rating system, so anything rated PG I saw by default, which is why I was in theatre for such pictures as:
- Master Of The Universe - The Wrong Guys - Second Sight (Does anyone even remember this Bronson Pinchot/John Larroquette team-up?) The one that sticks in my craw the most, is accompanying my younger sister into the theatre to see King Ralph, while my parents and older brother were in the next theatre watching Silence Of The Lambs |

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Other than a bunch of those mentioned, I saw Wing Commander in the theater
|
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
I saw The Master of Disguise in theaters. I was a huge Dana Carvey fan, what could go wrong?
A lot. A lot could go wrong. |
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Solo - No, not that one. The other one.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Invasion USA. It was something for us to do when southern New Hampshire lost power. We drove until we saw lights.
The theater was shouting jokes at the screen and that was more entertaining than the movie. But the standard for action movies fell so far since then that it's now considered a good movie. |
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Best Defense
A horrendous movie about Dudley Moore trying to sell a part to the US Army. It was so bad that they went out and filmed extra scenes of Eddie Murphy as a soldier, and inserted them into the finished film and then got suckers () to think it was an Eddie Murphy movie. |
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
When I was a child, my parents took me and my sister to see The Golden Child and Mannequin. My parents must have sat there with jaundiced eyes, but I remember being entertained. There's no accounting for the taste of children. I haven't seen either movie since.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
I’ve never walked out of a movie - I paid, might as well finish. The people who made it don’t know I’m leaving in a huff.
Movies like Justice League are not great, but actually terrible movies are next level. I’ve watched:
Those movies are truly horrific. |
