I saw THAT in theaters?

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
I saw The Golden Child theatrically too, except I still like the movie. I even got to use one of my favorite lines from it one time as I was walking down the sidewalk, and some people were having a little outdoor party. Their party kinda blocked the sidewalk, and I guess people were walking around it. I decided to walk straight through it, and when they looked at me I took a single potato chip from a bowl. "I just want a chip. One chip, that's all."

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
I'm sure there's more, but some of the ones that come to mind:
The Quest
The Island of Dr. Moreau
Battlefield Earth
The Tuxedo
Be Cool
A Good Day to Die Hard
Who considers Invasion USA a good movie? Other than maybe DJariya?

Invasion USA. It was something for us to do when southern New Hampshire lost power. We drove until we saw lights.
The theater was shouting jokes at the screen and that was more entertaining than the movie. But the standard for action movies fell so far since then that it's now considered a good movie.

I’ve never walked out of a movie - I paid, might as well finish. The people who made it don’t know I’m leaving in a huff.
Movies like Justice League are not great, but actually terrible movies are next level.
I’ve watched:

I’ve watched:
- Sudden Impact - The Van Damme hockey movie where he kicks a penguin mascot
- Street Fighter - Another Van Damme classic
- Super Mario Brothers (an actual nightmare)
- Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (where they decided to take everything good from the first movie and not do any of it again)

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?

I did see Alexander in the theater. It was a very awkward experience. I thought it would be a period war movie, but a lot of had to do with Alexander coming to terms with his homosexuality. A lot of intimate scenes with men. There was a woman in the theater who actually walked out during one of the gay sex scenes.
It just wasn’t what I expected and it was 3 hours long. Not a movie I would have normally seen in the theater, but I did not knowing the full context. And it was fucking boring as shit too.

Along with Billy Drago getting shot in the balls.Invasion USA is a total guilty pleasure. But I was only 12 when it came out and wasn’t allowed to see R rated movies. I saw it a year later on VHS with my Mom’s supervision.

Worst movie is definitely Hardware (1990) - a ripoff of Terminator. When the movie was over, my friends were asking why the f--- I took them to see it.
Not a bad movie, but inappropriate; The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Took my wife there on our first date. It is based on the book of the same name. It takes place during the Prague spring, and is about a Czech doctor that is always cheating on his girlfriend (wife?).

Saw Mannequin with my sister as a kid as well. We saw Howard the Duck around that time as well. Somehow these were enjoyable.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Maybe not the same type of scenario as it was at the Toronto International Film Festival, but I saw Lukas Moodysson's "A Hole in my Heart" there.
Moodysson was an up-and-coming director who already directed a couple of quality films in "Show me Love" and "Lilya 4-Ever", so naturally I was looking forward to it.
It was just horrible. A boring waste of time.
I anticipated trouble when the Festival guy introduced the film and was really talking it up - making me think he was trying to convince us to like it before it started.
When Moodysson took questions after the film, one audience member asked "Do you like your audience?"

Not a bad movie by any stretch but I still wonder why I went by myself to see Kenneth Branagh's 4 HOUR long Hamlet. No way I'd be sitting that long in a theater today. I guess I'm glad i did it when I had the fortitude for something like that.

Weekend at Bernies 2 and Highlander 2 without having seen the first ones.
Joe vs. the Volcano, maybe one of the worst movies I've seen.
Plenty of so called flops or B-movies that I enjoyed somewhat regardless:
Howard the Duck
Super Mario Brothers
The Adventures of Ford Fairlane
Drop Dead Fred
Young Einstein
Jaws 3-D
Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone 3D
Battle Beyond the Stars
Krull
Buck Rogers in the 25th Century
Ice Pirates (yeah, not so good actually)
I saw Home Alone in the theater and didn't really like it if that counts for anything.

I walked out of one movie. Bille August's unendurable 1996 snoozer, Jerusalem. It was so boring that I got nervous after maybe an hour, my stomach started rumbling, and I had to get out of there. I felt better once outside.

I'm with ya there. There's usually a good reason I pick a movie to see in the theater. Except one time. I was at a casino that has a Regal attached. I found myself with a couple hours to burn and decided to check out Grown Ups 2. Big mistake. Huge.

Luckily I have not seen many bad movies in a theater, but Hoosiers is the worst. I do think it is appropriate to this thread as I think it is utter garbage. The Phantom Menace would come in 2nd. Of the over 1,000 films I have seen in the theater in my lifetime, no other films come close to those 2 experiences.

It's funny how few people understand this concept.
I moderate on a message board for horror films, and a discussion came up about the terrible state of the genre in regards to pointless remakes. I was suggesting we as horror fans should boycott the films, and I get the responses "Oh, I just go to see how bad they screw it up" or some version of that. And no matter how much I pleaded, they never seem to understand that the producers don't care if you like it, they care if you spend money to see it and the only way to get them to stop doing it is to NOT GO SEE THEM.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
The only movie I've walked out of, may not count, because my friend and I theater jumped to see the movie we really wanted to see.
Other than that, I don't recall walking out of a movie.
I maybe should have walked out of Trolls when I was the only middle aged man there by himself at a weekday matinee...
I've seen some 'not very good' movies in a theater, but if I go to a theater, either I've researched the movie enough (ie, seen a trailer) to think I at least won't hate it, or it's 'free' (Moviepass/A-list).
I somewhat wish I had walked out of Sisters, that was horrible, but didn't. The seats were comfy and the popcorn was good.
Maybe Action Point, that was pretty stupid and not very funny.
I even somewhat enjoyed Here Comes the Boom and Return of the Living Dead 2.
Or maybe I've blotted out the really bad ones from my memory

Watching "Hoodwinked!" and "The New World" I went to the lobby to get new popcorn and wasn't in a hurry to return to the screen, which I eventually did. Besides these occasions I never leave, I don't even go to the bathroom.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
I've never walked out of a bad movie in the theater. I've shut off rented bad movies before, sure, or stopped streaming bad movies, yes.
The only movie where I actively turned to the person next to me and said, "This is terrible. Should we leave? I kind of want to leave," is for Orange County. It just isn't good. We stayed. It didn't get better.
Although I've seen my fair share of terrible movies, most were at home, thankfully, and I avoided tons and tons of terrible movies by just not watching them, including many mentioned here.
Oh. I did see Dungeons & Dragons in the theater. My friend and I were really excited for that one. We didn't think about walking out, but we did confirm with each other while watching, "This is a bad movie, right? Okay, so it isn't just me."

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
I used to keep all my tickets for movies I saw in the theater. This goes back to the early 90s. A few years ago I was going through my box of old tickets and came across one with Celtic Pride listed on it. I had absolutely no recollection of such a movie even existing. I had to Google it to remember what it was about. So yeah, I’m the guy that watched Celtic Pride at the theater.
