Re: Alien: Romulus (2024, D: Alvarez, P: Scott)
Cool trailer.
I guess I agree with you even though I have a couple hundred tapes. I still watch them on a semi regular basis downstairs in my basement bar on a super old tube tv. |

I'm all for watching movies on VHS if they haven't even gotten a dvd release but this whole idea that VHS is making a comeback when it's a dated format compared to the technology of today is laughable. Nostalgia can only go so far.
And don't even get me started on the ridiculous "warmer sound" bullshit. |

Well, look at LPs and vinyl sucks. I grew up on it and I don't care what anyone says. Horrible format that sucks today as much as it sucked back then. But somehow it has become cool.

Holy shit. Must-have popcorn bucket!

Re: Alien: Romulus (2024, D: Alvarez, P: Scott)
Normally, I kind of roll my eyes at all of these collectable popcorn buckets (cheap, tacky, over-priced), but that actually looks like something I would keep on display in my home theater.
Might seriously look into getting one of those if it isn't too expensive and looks decent up close. |
Re: Alien: Romulus (2024, D: Alvarez, P: Scott)
Are these usually AMC things? All my locals are Marcus and we don’t get any of the fancy cool buckets.

Re: Alien: Romulus (2024, D: Alvarez, P: Scott)
This looks entertaining enough, but at the same time, between this and Covenant (which, not gonna lie, was actually a pretty good movie itself), it also feels like they're just falling back on the paradigm of the original movie where a space ship finds and egg and hilarity ensues.
I mean, the really cool thing about Alien --> Aliens is that it continued the story in a (mostly) logical way (if you don't scrutinize it too closely) and told its own story that didn't just remake the original movie. Just feels like, at this point we should have Earth War or Earth Invasion or something like that. Especially with the better special effects and production values that are available today. It's the same kind of rut the Terminator franchise is in, where every damned movie has to be some kind of rehash of the original one instead of covering things like the Machine War and John Connor's crusade. |
Re: Alien: Romulus (2024, D: Alvarez, P: Scott)
That's why, despite deep flaws, I enjoyed where Prometheus was headed. Though I thoroughly enjoyed Alien: Covenant and insist it still doesn't quite tie back into Alien, I was somewhat disappointed with the pivot it took away from the story of the Engineers.
That being said, I can't deny my anticipation for this new movie. |

Maybe not that high but it’s a lot of fun for sure. |
Re: Alien: Romulus (2024, D: Alvarez, P: Scott)
I need to rewatch Covenant but Alien and Aliens (SE) are by far the best two then Prometheus. I'm really excited for Romulus.

Re: Alien: Romulus (2024, D: Alvarez, P: Scott)
Alien: Covenant was my least favorite of the series, but I still liked it even though it was a disappointment.
I am trying not to get my expectations too high for Romulus like I did with Covenant |

ALIEN : REMUS sounds like a different kind of movie entirely. One I would definitely watch.

Re: Alien: Romulus (2024, D: Alvarez, P: Scott)
I'm not watching the final trailer -- they've practically given the whole movie away by now.
