There was more thought put into that post than it looks like Rob Zombie put into this movie.
I suspect you'd agree that everyone who posts here about the upcoming 'The Munsters.' movie needs to just stand back, take a breath and wait for the new movie to drop before eviscerating it! I think Rob Zombie must have (excuse the expression) 'balls of steel' to take on such a risky proposition as re-imagining such a beloved classic property as 'The Munsters.'. And I can only repeat that it's about time that 'The Munsters.' was released on blu ray with fully remastered video and audio. So many other classic shows have had a blu ray release, so what on earth is taking Universal or whoever owns the home entertainment rights to the series so long?! |

I thought this could be fun, but after watching that trailer, I'm out. Yikes!

Re: The Munsters (2022, D: Rob Zombie)
I watched The Munsters reruns when I was a little kid, and I loved the show . . . because I was a little kid, so I was stupid and thought stupid stuff was funny.
My only particular thought watching the trailer was how god-awful it looks to do this in color, and not just in color, but bright garish 70s videotape color. Maybe curiosity would have led me to watch this movie someday, but I can't imagine doing that now. I'm not curious enough to eat octopus, but other people like it. That's life. |
Re: The Munsters (2022, D: Rob Zombie)
Speaking of the wretched production values, it looks like a commercial for candy bars or kids' breakfast cereal.

Re: The Munsters (2022, D: Rob Zombie)
The look of the trailer in black & white isn't hateful (to me). Of course that doesn't help the voices and acting, particularly Lily.

holy fuck does that look beyond shitty.

I wish this movie wasn’t.

The B&W is an improvement. An improvement in what, I don’t know.

Nice to see a porn parody aesthetic back in the cinema.

Re: The Munsters (2022, D: Rob Zombie)
Garbage. I'm sure good people worked hard but I can't think of anyone who is excited to see this.

Re: The Munsters (2022, D: Rob Zombie)
I see this maybe appealing to kids in the third grade and below who just want to watch something slap sticky and stupid. Not much else going for it other than the actor playing Grandpa, who is doing a good job.

Re: The Munsters (2022, D: Rob Zombie)
Zombie says this is headed to Netflix

Re: The Munsters (2022, D: Rob Zombie)
 Better for them to sell the license than to drop it on their own service.
A lot of these 1440 productions have gone straight to Netflix. |
Re: The Munsters (2022, D: Rob Zombie)
way to avoid a 75K opening weekend.

A lot of these 1440 productions have gone straight to Netflix. You'd think that Peacock would be a given but they said nah. |

In that Instagram post Rob called it The Addams Family, even the hashtag. Is he confused or are they changing the name of the movie?

Even a shitty service like Peacock knew this was awful and had to get out from under it.

Re: The Munsters (2022, D: Rob Zombie)
I think the black and white trailer hides some of the aspects of the film that look cheap. I kind of wonder if Rob Zombie wanted to do it in black and white like the original show and Universal insisted on it being in color.

Zombie's film is different from the original show in one important way: his Munsters is in color! "I knew that if I went in and demanded 'This movie's going to be in black and white or forget it!' we would not be talking about the Munsters right now, because it would have never happened. I guaran-f---ing-tee it," says the director. "But what I did do is I made the colors sort of hyper-real. I noticed when the actors were in their makeup and they were just walking around, getting lunch or whatever, they looked like cartoon characters come to life. They were just so insanely colorful. I was like, I have to light the movie in the same fashion. It really seemed at all times like a live action cartoon, which was really exciting." |
Re: The Munsters (2022, D: Rob Zombie)
Ah so he knew he would be rejected if he wanted to do it in black and white so went full blown the opposite direction with it.
