Sad news. The Arclight theater chain and Pacific Theatres are closing for good.

I know the Arclight has a lot of fans. I've been to the Arclight in Hollywood once and it was a really nice theatre.

Fuck the pandemic and fuck anyone getting joy out of this and rooting for theatres to fail.

Yeah, just read this and it fucking sucks. I also had a comped membership with them due to a screw up a few years ago - they gave me a lifetime membership essentially. I think the last time I went to the Arclight in Hollywood was when they had the QT weekend of all his films on the big screen leading to the premiere of OUATIH. I watched Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction (in the Dome), because those were the only two QT films I had never seen at the theater. It was great.

I'm back at my favorite movie theater for the first time since the pandemic and just noticed this telltale sign of how long it has been shuttered :

^ You beat me to it...was just coming here to post that update. Guess Cineplex and whatever independent theatres are left are going to see a surge in business tonight and tomorrow.

It says they hope to re-hire them January 28th.

Don’t bank on that. Expect more closures in many places.
