I think I've only watched the first trailer and I consider that a good thing. No need to spoil anything. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

On watching the trailer, so I can enjoy it that much more in the theater.

Bruce has a speaking part in the movie - I don't think it's an obvious one though.

I didn’t have much interest in this to start but if the solid ratings hang on, I’ll check this out.

Im genuinely scared by the trailer and skipped the second. But that’s a good thing I’ll be watching Friday or Saturday.

It looks gross and intense.

Interesting.

Spoiler:
Bruce Campbell appears in an uncredited cameo role as Father Marcus Littleton, the priest whose spoken translation of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis (recorded on a vinyl record in 1923) is found by Danny,[7] with Littleton described by Lee Cronin as a character "that could very well be Ash Williams" (displaced in time).[8]

It seems he technically has two cameos in the movie.
Spoiler:
One of those was a challenge to find Bruce Campbell's cameo in the movie, but we're guessing you never expected it to be found as quickly as it was?

People went hard at it quite quickly to find that cameo. But there's another Bruce moment in the movie as well. He did some Foley work for me as well. There's a scene around an eye where there's some munching and Bruce created that sound by eating an apple furiously for me.

You could have pretended that was actually the cameo you're talking about.

I could have done, yeah, saved me $50 and said somebody was wrong.

Agreed. Saw this last night and it's a worthy entry to the Evil Dead franchise. Different setting and character dynamics but it was all very well done in the same over-the-top style as the originals.

Re: Evil Dead Rise (2023, D: Cronin, P: Raimi, Campbell)

Just got back from seeing it. it was awesome. A bloody game time and I mean that literally. It didn't have the humor that the Campbell movies and TV show had, but it was still a fun, gory and genuinely creepy movie.

And I'm glad it was just killing and killing mayhem. No cliched happy endings.

Absolutely see this if you like the series. A very worthy edition

This was a huge 'meh' for me and I went in pretty excited. Found the first hour pretty boring both pace, story and dialogue-wise, but the last half hour ramped up the fun. A 6 for me.

Re: Evil Dead Rise (2023, D: Cronin, P: Raimi, Campbell)

The family dynamic was effective throughout here; different for the franchise but well-done imo despite my initial groans about friggin’ children now being in an Evil Dead film.

I don’t know the name of that child actress that played Kassie but how is she NOT going to need therapy down the line after working on this film??

What number-grade would you give that 2013 remake?

Maybe this comment is a joke playing on how intense the finished film is, but it reminds me of Roger Ebert's negative review of Kick Ass and being concerned for the mental state of the child actor, as if he's forgotten how movies are made. Kassie spent a lot of boring hours waiting around until the director yelled "Action", and then she screamed or made a face for five seconds while some crew members sprayed blood or waved around a piece of rubber, and then she was bored again while they set up the next shot. Every movie set I've been on is a lot of mind numbing drudgery, punctuated by brief moments when the camera is rolling. She isn't experiencing this in real time like it was a play. She's more likely to need therapy for the same reasons a child actor working on a wholesome family movie would; the quality of the working environment, not the content of the picture.

This movie was decent, but not spectacular. I don't get all of the over-the-top positive reviews about it. It was fine and I enjoyed it, but it didn't enrich my life in any way. The woman who played the mom was fantastic in her role. The kids were good, as was the lead character.

I’ll wait for this to be available to stream. No way my fiancée will go with me (she already said as much when she saw the trailer ) and I probably won’t go alone. Truthfully I was kind of mixed on the trailer anyways so not overly enthused about rushing out to see it.

Would love to see this with my daughter for her first R rated theater experience but I have to know first: Do kids die in this?
