Are fans really fascinated with Snoke and his history? I could have cared less about him.

A dark side user that pulled Ben Skywalker away from his parents? It's not like he's some Resistance mechanic with a chip on her shoulder.

I would rather see her fired, but I'll be just as happy once she's gone. Cancel Rian Johnson's Trilogy, and get rid of her story group after that.

Guess it would have helped if I cared for Kylo's character, but I didn't for him either.

Bummer, I like what she's doing. I've enjoyed every new Star Wars movie.

Well, it's kind of the writer's job to make these characters interesting instead of saying fuck it and killing the character off so you can concentrate on emo shit lord and Poe's half-baked mutiny arc.

Really? Is Snoke really more interesting than seeing Kylo Ren do the one thing Darth Vader couldn't do: kill his master and rule the galaxy?! 'Cause he did that with one whole movie to spare so we can see what happens!

Re: Future Star Wars projects discussion thread - news, rumors, etc.

Unlike most I thought the reveal that Rey's parents were just a bunch of scavengers who deserted her was the best twist in the franchise since the final act of Empire.

But Snoke being a nobody really bummed me out. I really wanted him to be Darth Plagueis and have it revealed that the dark side of the force was so strong in him that he was able to somehow cheat death. In this scenario he also wouldn't have died in The Last Jedi. Whoever thought it was narratively prudent to bring him in with no backstory only to have him killed randomly without any explanation of who he was needs to be kicked in the bean purse.

I still think Rey ends up being a Skywalker.

I have enjoyed them as well, but the Saga series has been so far below what they could have been.

There are a million theories but one I saw had her linked to be of the Qui-Gon Jin lineage... it was pretty compelling. Don't really care myself as I find most of the new characters pretty unlikable. That said, if they do develop Rey in further movies and they have her linked to a past Jedi, great... just do something creative with it.

How much more backstory did we get about Palpatine until the prequels? He’s basically a plot device to tempt Luke and die by Vader’s hand.

A brand new video from Midnight's Edge on The Rise and Fall of Star Wars under Disney.

ugh... up until 2 movies ago Disney and Kathleen Kennedy were the savior.

lets not overreact.

The Last Jedi left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths.

Solo was destined to fail because nobody asked for it, and Han Solo IS Harrison Ford.

Just move on to the next movie. Star Wars will be fine.

I liked Solo. But the box office numbers are brutal.

I don't know if a Kenobi or Boba movie would do better.

A Boba movie might get fanboys excited. I fear the Kenobi movie would just have Obi-Wan killing Maul again - fuck that.

I remember after X-Men Last Stand, Donner was talking spin-offs for several characters, but just stuck with Wolverine as Jackman was so popular.

I really think Solo just suffered due to bad timing more than anything. It should have been a no brainer to not have it out in the same month as Infinity War and Deadpool 2. Not sure why it wasn’t moved to a month with less competition. I also think it may have been too much having it out under six months after The Last Jedi came out and still think Star Wars is better off as like a yearly event movie rather than just putting out multiple films a year.

Obi-Wan with McGregor would do well I would think. He's just as associated with the character now, if not more so, than Alec Guinness is/was.

I say scrap the Fett solo movie and make a "No Good To Me Dead: A Star Wars Story" which has Fett, Dengar, IG88, et al playing both sides of the conflict.

What they should do is just make Boba Fett part of a sequel to Solo. Although now who knows if sequels will happen since the first film hasn’t performed well. I don’t think Boba Fett needs much of a backstory but I think you could give more background on how Han knows of him.

Obi-Wan/McGregor is one of the few bright spots of the prequels. Also, he differs from Solo for the fact we don't know a lot about him and could be fleshed out on screen. Han was a mysterious rogue and we didn't need a visual checklist of everything referencened in the OT. For 40 years people have filled in those gaps with their own imagination. Obi-wan is different in that regard. We met him as an old man and Lucas bumbled whatever development we could have had with the prequels. He's ripe for expanding upon and McGregor was awesome. I'm down for this project.

Boba Fett... oh, Boba Fett. Like Han, a mysterious character that works better not knowing everything. Lucas totally fucking ruined Fett by adding Jango and shoe-horning him into the prequels with the clone nonsense. Let it rest. He was a cool action figure and that's about it. The prequels ruined whatever intrigue he had. Oh, and hamming it up with the ladies at Jabba's Palace and mugging for the camera in the Special Editions. *groan.*

I'm with you TGM, give me a bounty hunters movie instead. Get Tarantino on it and make it like Reservoir Dogs.

They already did that on Rebels, and it's part of the canon.

I'm intrigued to see how Ant Man & Wasp do at the theaters. I liken that spin-off to Solo or Boba Fett... something nobody really asked for but is entertaining in its own right.

There isn't really any comparison. 1. It isn't a "spin off" and 2. It is a sequel. So I guess if you wanted to make the comparison, look at the results of the first Ant-Man. But to answer your intrigue, it is going to do well. Better than Solo at least.

From what I remember, Disney wanted to get back to the 'May' release schedule for every SW movie, as Episode 9 was slated to come out in May 2019 too. Solo was slated for May 2018, and then the only reason Episode 9 got pushed back was because of the Treverow firing and JJ forced them to move it to December, just like he did with Episode 7.

I agee with you on this and feel that if this was released in December the numbers would have been MUCH better.
