For the following reasons:
1. They brought Thrawn and the Chiss into Rebels.
2. In Timothy Zahn's recent Thrawn novel, we learn that Thrawn joined the Empire because the Chiss believe some kind of threat is going to endanger the galaxy.
3. They're subtly pushing "Unknown Regions" in the new canon.

This trilogy will end with Abrams' Last Jedi sequel, and after that, it sounds like the main thrust of the franchise will move into Johnson's mysterious new movies, which look to be unconnected to the previous saga. As far as Abrams is concerned, that will be the end of the Skywalker story. "I do see it that way," he says. "But the future is in flux."
As far as Ridley is concerned, the future of Rey is pretty much set. She doesn't want to play the character after the next movie. "No," she says flatly. "For me, I didn't really know what I was signing on to. I hadn't read the script, but from what I could tell, it was really nice people involved, so I was just like, 'Awesome.' Now I think I am even luckier than I knew then, to be part of something that feels so like coming home now."
But, um, doesn't that sort of sound like a yes? "No," she says again, smiling a little. "No, no, no. I am really, really excited to do the third thing and round it out, because ultimately, what I was signing on to was three films. So in my head, it's three films. I think it will feel like the right time to round it out."

She'll be back in 10 - 15 years.

Well, money talks. I'm surprised to read they only signed her for three movies. I know this was originally planned as a sequel trilogy, but the execs had to be thinking the story would extend beyond that. I heard most of the Marvel actors committed to at least six up front... and it's not like Ridley had ANY leverage to negotiate when they offered her the role.
I'm sure she wants to avoid being pigeonholed, but Star Wars is undoubtedly the most significant thing she'll ever be associated with. While talented, I don't see her career reaching the scale of someone like Kate Winslet. More like Keira Knightley after the third Pirates movie.

I think the "Saga" should end with part IX. Three trilogies that each cover one generation of the Skywalker family.
Anything after that should focus on something else. Anthology movies. A KOTOR or TOTJ trilogy. A Boba Fett trilogy that explores the criminal underworld. The Obi-Wan solo movie. A Legacy movie that takes place one hundred years later (with Luke as a Force Ghost?).

A bit surprising they only signed the new actors for apparently three films... Skywalker connections or not...I'm expecting Episodes 10-12 to happen, not right away...perhaps starting in 2027, the 50th Anniversary.

I’m not completely surprised. Trilogies are a part of Star Wars at this point and are also pretty commonplace for franchise films in general now days. It seems like a lot of actors and actresses sign on for trilogy deals. I’m sure that she’ll want to do other films beyond Star Wars after she finishes Episode IX and with Disney owning the franchise it’s not ending anytime soon so I wouldn’t rule out a possible return in the future. Maybe she sits out the next trilogy and eventually makes her way back into the fold.

She's smart... she's posturing for a big payday... and she'll get it!

The fans continue to be fascinated with Snoke and his history. I wondered if you were privy to any insight into his past that the movies don’t address, and whether you can shed any light on that?
We wanted him to have a great deal of mystery, but we did … J.J. [Abrams] and I discussed it, and Rian [Johnson] and I did discuss backstories to him, where he came from. I’ve been asked to not shed anything, should we want to bring him back in any way whether [in a] prequel or whatever. I think there’s something cool about that. It still does remain a mystery for people. I know that some people find it incredibly frustrating, but I think it allows for further exploration and layering at a further point.
Do you anticipate a return for Snoke in some future stories?
Yeah, I would love to think that there is room for him to come back. I think anything’s possible in a Star Wars movie. I’d be all up for it. I think there’s a lot more to be had from the character for sure, but I’m not in discussions with anybody at all about it.

How many Star Wars movies are tentatively in the works right now?
I feel like they've announced more than 10 movies. I haven't done my research so correct me if I'm wrong.
They've already released 4 and currently in the pipeline:
Episode 9
Rian Johnson trilogy
Games of Thrones guys trilogy
Solo 2,3
Obi Wan
Boba Fett
Am I missing anything?

I wouldn't call most of those on you list as in the works. Some may be movies that they are proposing they want to do, but not much beyond that.

9 and Boba Fett are officially announced. That means in the works. The rest are still in the "planning" stages.
Not sure about Solo 2/3 since the box office for this one isn't doing great, but they might want to recoup their costs and give Donald Glover more time to shine. Let's see Lando's little maneuver from the Battle of Tanaab, eh?

I don't know if we need three years between Star Wars movies, but we certainly need more than 5 months. Disney needs to get Lucasfilm working on other things other than Star Wars.

As mentioned in the Solo BO thread, there are rumors going around that Kathleen Kennedy is stepping down this year:
